• The Sixers are retiring Allen Iverson‘s No. 3 jersey in what will likely be an emotional halftime presentation. Iverson’s No. 3 will rise to the rafters and those expected to speak are Iverson, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Sixers Managing Owner Josh Harris. Other former players expected to attend include Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Dikembe Mutombo and Theo Ratliff. Throughout the game, the Sixers will show footage of some of Iverson’s greatest moments.
• Sixers coach Brett Brown, on Iverson: “He was a larger-than-life figure and a fierce competitor. I have the utmost respect for him.”
• The Sixers signed forward Jarvis Varnado to a 10-day contract. Varnado was named a D-League All-Star for the Iowa Energy and he previously played with the Chicago Bulls this season. “I think it’s a great opportunity to get out and play and show what I can do,” Varnado said.
• Heading into this game, the Sixers have lost 12 straight overall and 11 straight at home.
• Forward Thaddeus Young is averaging 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 5.0 steals over the past three games.
• The Wizards will be without forward Nene (sprained MCL, left knee) and center Kevin Seraphin (sore right knee).

• The Pistons’ Brandon Jennings will start Saturday’s game against the Rockets after missing the second half of Wednesday’s loss in San Antonio with a sore right big toe. The 6-foot-1 point guard is mired in a dreadful shooting slump, averaging only 6.3 points on 8-for-34 (23.5 percent) shooting over his last four contests.

• Houston will play without starting forward Chandler Parsons, who has been battling a sinus infection and migraines over the last few days. Parsons said at Saturday morning’s shootaround that he expected to play, but he left the arena in street clothes approximately 90 minutes before the scheduled tipoff. Jordan Hamilton, the Rockets’ lone trade-deadline acquisition, will slide into Parsons’ spot in the starting five.

• Hamilton has made quite an impression in his first two appearances with the team since Denver shipped the 6-foot-7 forward to Houston less than two weeks ago in exchange for guard Aaron Brooks. The third-year player out of the University of Texas has compiled a total of 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting, including 6-for-11 shooting from 3-point range, eight rebounds and three steals in his short time as a Rocket.

• The Rockets (39-19) are 11-0 at home this season against Eastern Conference clubs, while the Pistons (23-35) enter Saturday’s contest on a six-game road losing streak and a seven-game skid at Toyota Center. “We’ve got to have a big rebounding game tonight,” Houston coach Kevin McHale said. “Everybody’s got to come in and fill in and get all the loose [rebounds] and tipped [rebounds].”
