I like both dogs on Sunday.
All four come off a win on Friday, so emotionally they are all in the same spot I think.
Memphis can really give Thunder trouble in the paint and Conley is better than any PG that Rockets had to offer on both ends of the floor.

As for NYK - Pacers, great series and I think that many games will be close here, so taking the dog should be money here.

Can't go against the thunder in Sunday home games. Crowd should be a lot better than the home game the other night.

Memphis going to physically wear OKC down

May not win series but OKC gonna be battered

memphis in 5 tops imo

just not a compelling series anywhere. if u think indiana/ny is compelling, i guess u could have some fun

Simmons---

Goes without saying. I pleaded Westbrook's case after his electric performance in Game 4 of the 2012 Finals, when I introduced my 10 Percent Theory, described like this: "Even the best NBA players have holes; in a best-case scenario, they're tapping into about 90 percent of their total potential, with the holes representing the other 10 percent. We can either dwell on the 90 percent or the 10 percent … and some holes are less glaring than others." With Westbrook, everyone kept dwelling on that 10 percent. He played recklessly. He took too many shots, and too many bad ones. His body language wasn't always great. He wasn't really a point guard. Meanwhile, Westbrook was one of the toughest players in basketball, a spectacular athlete, someone who played with a controlled fury that consistently elevated his team. I thought they fed off his energy and ferocity; along with Durant's offensive brilliance, that's what made those Oklahoma City teams special.
Now that he's gone, the Thunder don't have the same intensity. They don't get nearly as many easy baskets, especially in transition. It's much easier to double-team Durant and deny him the ball — if anything, Durant's 10 percent (his inability to post up and his struggles just to get the ball sometimes) has been much more noticeable since Westbrook disappeared. And over everything else, they miss Westbrook's swagger. Westbrook approached every game the same way: We're gonna kick your ass. They don't have that guy anymore. Down the stretch of Game 5 against Houston, the Thunder simply melted — they had to resort to that Hack-A-Sik crap, they were playing "hot potato" offensively, and Durant's body language was the worst it's been since P.J. Carlesimo was stupidly playing him as a shooting guard five years ago. This round made everyone stop looking at Russell Westbrook's 10 percent and start seeing his 90 percent. Small consolation for Thunder fans, but still. He's really, really good.

Essentially, I think any angles anybody has accumulated on the Thunder are 100% irrelevant right now. Westbrook has been, is, and will continue to be the guy that gives that team its edge. Without him, I could give two shits if they have covered on every Sunday since the team's inception.

OKC/Mem series is compelling from one angle. Of the 2 of them, OKC is the "Over" team & Memphis is the "Under" team. So what do we get? Memphis comes in with 5 of their 6 playoff games having gone Over, and OKC comes in 5 of their 6 playoff games having gone Under.

Lined at 186.5, that seems short to me. Esp. at this venue. Suggests Memphis domination.

I think that Thunder will struggle a lot in this series.
Garcia caused Durant trouble, so what about Prince, much better defender than Garcia?
Allen will help and in the paint Z-Bo and Gasol are waiting as well.
This is a series where Ibaka must step up.
He played very poorly against Memphis in regular season, way below his averages.
If he will continue the same way, Thunder got zero chance here.

Love the Grizz SU. Quick turnaround for both teams, Mem knows what they need to do against this team, I doubt OKC suddenly figured out how to win without Westbrook after Game 6. A bit surprised the public is not pounding Mem here and most people actually think OKC will win the game and the series but I guess that works for Grizz backers.

[h=2]GRIZZLIES AT THUNDER, 1 P.M. ET[/h] May 5, 2013 · 12:08PM
TV: ABC

  • Memphis comes into the game healthy and head coach Lionel Hollins plans no changes to his usual starting lineup. Thunder head coach Scott Brooks changes will be an increase in minutes for his big men. Starting center Kendrick Perkins will play much more than he did against the Rockets and because Memphis will go with a bigger lineup than OKC faced against Houston, Brooks said backup center Hasheem Thabeet will play some minutes and even third teamer Daniel Orton could see playing time as well.
  • Thunder point guard Reggie Jackson, filling in for the injured Russell Westbrook, has played only 38 minutes over the last two seasons against Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley. In the playoffs Jackson is averaging 14 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists. In four games as a starter in the playoffs he’s averaging 17.3 ppg. Conley is averaging exactly the same (17.3 points) in the playoffs, but Conley is also dishing an average of 8.3 assists and pulling down 3.4 rebounds per game.
  • Memphis has another stout defender to help in the matchup against Kevin Durant. Guard Tony Allen will spend time on Durant and he’ll be joined in that effort by Tayshaun Prince. Durant and Prince have been on the court together for 116 minutes this season. K.D. shot 39.3 percent during that time. In 51 minutes when Durant was on the floor but Prince was not, the Thunder All-Star shot 66.7 percent. No matter who was guarding him Durant still averaged 31 points on 50.8 percent shooting (33-for-65) against Memphis in the regular season. Durant knows this series will be much more physical than what the Thunder faced against Houston, “That’s in their DNA, it’s what they do and it’s what we do. Guys are going to go out there pushing and shoving.” Hollins agrees saying before the game, “we’re just gonna try and do what we do, go inside and do a lot of bangin.”
  • The Grizzlies won the regular season series 2-1, taking a November game in OKC 107-97 and losing a January game in Oklahoma City 106-89. Memphis won a March 20th game at FedEx Forum 90-89 in overtime. That’s the last time these two teams have played.
  • Memphis and OKC met in the 2011 Western Conference semi-finals too with the Thunder winning in seven games. The series featured a Grizzlies win in overtime and a Thunder win in triple-overtime.

@WojYahooNBA: Nets search for a new coach has started. P.J. Carlesimo won't be brought back. Jeff Van Gundy is a top target, sources say.

fuck yes

Took the Under in Oklahoma and Pacers +6.
Both small bets, because it's Game 1, but I think that Thunder have little chance in this series and if they got any chance, only via defense, because Prince and Allen should really do a good job on Durant...

First game of a series, i think its very important to read these tbt blog write ups to try to get an idea of what the coaches are thinking.... great way to get an edge on props before the numbers are adjusted after the series begins

From the two series that start on Monday, do you think there is a real chance that one of them will get to Game 6?
I really wish we could see some drama there, but I think that both teams did their by making it to Round 2 (with the injuries they had)...

TV: ABC

Carmelo Anthony has a banged up left shoulder after Kevin Garnett pulled his arm in the Celtics series, but he says he’s OK. “[The shoulder] felt pretty good today,” Anthony, who averaged 29.2 points against the Celtics, said Saturday. “The only time that I really feel it is when I get hit extremely hard and gets yanked on or something like that. But, other than that, I try not to think about it. I’m good to go, I’m ready to go.”
Steve Novak (back spasms) is out for Game 1. He also missed Game 6 against the Celtics. “I’ll know tomorrow, he seems like he’s moving around pretty well,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. Novak said no MRI is needed on his back and he would be “disappointed” if he’s not at least back for Game 3 Saturday. “Yeah, right now we think Game 3,” Novak said. He added that he would stay in the back and “get treatments” during the game.
Amar’e Stoudemire, who hasn’t played since March 7 with a right knee debridement, could also suit up for Game 3 on Saturday in Indianapolis. “If [Amar'e] feels fine after Friday then I think we will play him Saturday,” Woodson said Saturday . “If he’s right he can help us a lot. There’s no doubt.”
The Knicks will start Pablo Prigioni, Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, Anthony and Tyson Chandler.
The Pacers will start George Hill, Lance Stephenson, Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert. Anthony will start out guarding West.
Woodson said his bigs are mobile enough to rotate on West and Hibbert. “Our guys are pretty mobile with Kenyon and Tyson; Amar’e's pretty mobile, too, when he comes back,” Woodson said.
The Pacers allowed a league-low 5.4 3-pointers per game this season, while the Knicks established league records for made 3-pointers (891) and attempts (2,371).
The teams split their four games this year, with each team winning their home games.
The Knicks have won 20 of their last 24 games, including playoff games. “I think the Knicks were probably the best team in the NBA the last five, six weeks of the season,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said.
The Knicks and Pacers have played six playoff series, which each one winning three.
In 1973, both teams won championships, the Pacers in the ABA and the Knicks in the NBA.

[h=2]Bulls at Heat, 7 p.m., ET[/h] May 6, 2013 · 4:09PM
TV: TNT

  • The Bulls will be without forward Luol Deng, who did not travel with the team. Deng could join the team early as Tuesday after dealing with complications from a spinal tap for viral meningitis. Coach Tom Thibodeau said, “(Deng) is sort of the glue of our team, but that being said, he’s missed games during the season. He missed games in the last series and we had more than enough to get it done and that’s what we have to do.”
  • Marco Belinelli is expected to start in place of Deng.
  • Chicago guard Kirk Hinrich remains a game-time decision because of a bruised left calf. He missed Saturday’s series-clinching victory against the Brooklyn Nets. He is listed as doubtful.
  • Heat guard Dwyane Wade (knee) will play despite being limited most of the week during practice. Wade missed two of the Heat’s practices but completed full workouts Friday and Saturday. He participated in the morning shootaround.
  • Bulls guard Derrick Rose continues to leave open the door for a possible return during the playoffs. He spoke with reporters Monday morning, saying ”It’s still in the air. I might have a chance.”

Bulls guard Derrick Rose continues to leave open the door for a possible return during the playoffs. He spoke with reporters Monday morning, saying ”It’s still in the air. I might have a chance.”

That chance is the slim chance his teammates have of knocking Miami off. They do, Rose is back on court in a flash.

TV: TNT

  • Warriors coach Mark Jackson still had not committed to a starting lineup when he had a pregame discussion with the media. Asked if Tiago Splitter starts for San Antonio would the Warriors counter with a bigger lineup where Carl Landry would start, Jackson replied, “Could be … could be.”
  • Splitter, with the right ankle sprain that caused him to miss Game 4 of the Lakers series, is inactive. That would indicate Golden State will counter with a smaller lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Jarrett Jack, Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut.
  • Boris Diaw will start in place of Splitter for the Spurs. It will be Diaw’s first game since April 12 when he had surgery to remove a cyst from his lower back. “He hasn’t played in a long time, so we’re anxious to see how he looks tonight,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.
  • Splitter is expected to be ready for the Spurs in time for Game 2 on Wednesday.
  • David Lee, who played 1 1/2 minutes of Game 6 against Denver in more or less a role to generate a buzz in the home crowd more than x-and-o strategy, may get playing time tonight because Jackson said Lee’s physical condition from the torn right hip flexor has improved from the Denver series. “He’s going through some of the stuff [in practice],” Jackson said. “I feel comfortable [to play him] if I needed him. I’m not sure how much of a role he’ll play tonight. He’s in no position to start tonight or give me big minutes.”
  • Manu Ginobili did not play more than 20 minutes in any of the first-round games against the Lakers, but Popovich said there are no minute limitations in this series. Ginobili was returning from a strained hamstring. “I think he’s ready to play a normal game for him,” Popovich said.
