Rochclone Bowl Season

Thoughts on the Bahamas Bowl:

Toledo is a run oriented team with Koback and I suspect they will have a level of success. Averaging 194 yds on the ground at 5.3 yds per carry is certainly solid for Toledo. Starting QB Dequan Finn does a nice job of taking care of the ball but MTSU's defense will cause the Toledo o-line protection some issues this afternoon. MTSU is +11 on the season in turnovers and that includes -7 TO game against Western Kentucky. MTSU is solid against the run at 129 yds per game and 3.7 yards per carry. It is true they have avoided some of the tougher running teams in C-USA but even Va Tech and Liberty still were around 225 yds per game and those teams are better rushing the ball then Toledo. I also suspect that MTSU will get to the QB as they have 24 sacks in the last 8 games and the Toledo o-line has given up 34 sacks this season at a 9.7% on dropbacks.

Prediction: MTSU 24 Toledo 23

Cure Bowl Thoughts:

Northern Illinois should be able to establish the run to some degree. Even against Michigan they ran for over 160 yards and they are committed to the run with over 35 rushing attempts in every game except for one. The best defense for NIU is to control time of possession as they are sieve against the run. However I wonder how interested CCU is in this bowl. Not a high level opponent and they have been less than dominant in 4 of the last six games.
I think Ducker can establish the run and CCU will be unable to put this team away as their defense tires from being on the field.

This game and matchup being canceled is brutal. At least we have an other Bowl game during this time but this was going to be a good 1. Imagine being a senior with 1 last nationally televised game and having it taken away. The NCAA has done an atrocious job of being prepared. They will never do this to the Final Four teams.

Wise,

Every situation is a little different IMO. It’s pretty clear that Hawaii, Miami and Boise State did not want to play in their bowl games and thus used Covid as an excuse. I don’t get the same vibe from UCLA. I do think that the NCAA has failed regarding an overarching rule on testing. Right now it appears that the school’s testing procedure is tied to the politics of the State in which the reside.

I honestly think Texas Tech is going to have a chance this evening and the same with West Virginia.
