RIP Ryne Sandberg

Obviously too young but I know he'd been dealing for a long time

RIP Ryno, likely best 2nd baseman of a generation

For any cubs fans around my age, this one hurts a lot. I think it was when he announced his second retirement, my family went to a game in July or August, i think it was. I predicted Ryno would hit one out for us. My dad said no way, wind was just howling in. He banged one off the ivy, about as close as you could come, but it scored a run. I was happy I got to see him play one last time. He was our guy - I still have plaques that hung on my bedroom walls with his baseball cards on them. I'll have to dig em out one of these days. Maybe my Ryno poster is with em.

I was at Wrigley Field the day he got his 1st hit as a Cub. If I remember correctly, I believe he played 3rd base at that time.

I believe i still have that rookie card in a set at my moms house. Great player. And from the sounds of peers, a really good human and advocate for baseball. Cancer sucks
