Report: Denver rejects Anthony-to-Detroit deal

Pretty much a regular
The Nuggets reportedly turned down a trade offer from Detroit that would have sent Carmelo Anthony to the Pistons.

Without naming a source, ESPN.com reported that the Pistons offered Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince for Anthony, but the Nuggets weren't interested. Denver was said to have countered with an offer of Allen Iverson or a package with Marcus Camby, but the Pistons are only interested in Anthony. Melo's representatives are to meet with the Nuggets on Monday to continue discussing potential trades, so it sounds like Melo may have played his last game for the Nuggets.

Wow, they'd be admitting completely that they blew it on Darko.

OF course, the Nuggets would be doing the same on Chauncy--who's actually from Denver.

What is detroit thinking ??

love carmelo for getting my boy boeheim a title but this guy is OVERRATED , Doesnt play defense , is a terrible passer and isnt the most ....... solid of people . Seems like a terrible fit for detroit.

im not sure who comes out of this looking like the bigger dope. dumars for offering chauncy & prince for melo or the nuggz for turning it down.

While Melo is ass so far, if he ever grows up and gets his head on straight, he can still be a superstar. Billups is on the downslide of his career and Prince will never be a star.

Melo's offensive game is so pure. He's pretty much a swiss army knife on that side of the floor. Too bad on the other end right now he shows no desire to defend.

I wouldnt want Billups at this point in his career. Id reject this too if i was Denver.

Melo IMO will never be a superstar because he only knows one side of the court. That is why he is successful in Denver, U.S. Olympic Team and All Star games (not much to no D played). You have to be good at both ends to be a superstar. I agree though, smart play by Denver to deny.

i wouldn't trade odom for melo in a million years. melo's game in the context of team basketball is complete trash.

He'll never be the star he probably wants to be, but why would you ever give up a guy who's going to get you 20+ points every single night unless you were getting more than that?

Say what you want about Melo, and I often do, but the guy will get you points every single time he's on the floor and force the other team to play him hard or watch him go for 30. That alone makes him extremely valuable.

The problem Denver has right now is that one, he hasn't developed into the superstar and leader they wanted him to be and, two, this isn't Denver's fault, but the Western Conference is f**king stacked with talented teams right now that Denver likely can't get past no matter what they do with Melo.

i understand what you guys are saying...odom is one of the most un-guardable players in the nba....but he never plays to his potential. and he usually is a complete no show on big games
