WHat are the thoughts/strategies employed when evaluating a pitxher performance when they are suspected to be on the move at the trade deadline?

I liken it to nhl contract years when a player miraculously has an overwhelmingly outstanding season in yhe final year of their contract.

Its not a situation where one is a must bet or fade...but a general logic surrounding how yhese guys have done in the past.

Alcantra pitched his best game of the year last time out as an example.

Just something i thought about and thought to throw it out for discussion.

Every pitcher is different. Some want out to pitch for a contender while others cant handle all the noise.

I can definitely see a guy within a start or two of the deadline bringing is his best stuff as an audition of sorts.

On the other hand, a guy on a really bad team could be just playing it out. I'd look to see how one like that responds directly after a trade with new life! I feel like we've seen this numerous times.
