Quality of NFL

is it just me, or is there a disproportionally high number of bad quarterbacks starting or competing for starting jobs? Bad kickers? Bad everything. Feel like this is a direction we are heading in, a path we are already treading.

Next to the overpaid primadonnas and the kneeling (or, if you're a total douchebag like mccoy) stretching during the anthem. I think we have a vastly declining product.

Thoughts?

The product has become garbage for a good 7-10 years. It is a league driven by fantasy and gambling. That is why it cracks me up when players get mad about fans/fantasy... Hello ...we pay your multimillionaire asses salaries. Suck it up buttercup.

A deficiency surely masked by the defensive penalties that cheaply favor big passing, like Ed Reed said the NFL is turning into a powder puff league

It has been a progressive free all for ages. It sucks. I wonder when the "Golden Age" of the NFL was? Obviously for me it was the 90s...exciting times...

Ya tough question on when the golden age was ...

As a sports fan .... I feel so blessed to have lived when I did .. I don't think there is any question the 80ies was the greatest decade in American sports. Hockey was awesome, NFL was awesome, CFB was awesome, NBA was awesome, College Baskets was really awesome, .... probably only baseball was worse with the great 70ies to early 80ies but then the steroid era started so hard to not knock that. Most of all ... BOXING was WAAAAAAAAAAY better. Hell, even the olympics were better.

I just feel lucky in that respect.

And there is no doubt that no sport has had a bigger decline in quality than the NFL. That product is so bad, I haven't missed it during my boycott.

Five years ago I would have said the NBA had the biggest decline of all sports, maybe Boxing ... but NBA product has improved the last two years from their valley, and a lot of the problems that plague boxing were there in the earlier decades too, though the fights seem to have a lot less action now, with the dominance of counterpunchers.

But now .. no doubt the football product, including cfb, has gotten ridiculously poor when compared to decades ago.

It's what happens when society emasculates manhood, you produce a bunch pussies.

You should be an expert on bad QB play after watching Bortles the last few seasons. I have been a Jets fan all my life so I wouldn't recognize good QB play either. Like I have said numerous times without a star QB you are sunk.

I visited my old pe teacher in middle school. Kids not allowed to peg each other in kickball anymore. They could die. Or sue. Lol

Lol as a kid i absolutely loved Chad Pennington. He was my favorite QB who wasn't Brunell.

My golden age of NFL was losing to the fucking Titans three times in 1999, 14-2 season. Bitter. But great times and fun to watch, granted I was only 8...

Yeah I liked Pennington a lot but he had a noodle arm and once he injured his shoulder in a preseason game against the Giants his career was sunk. Since Namath the Jets have gotten a good season or two from Ken O'Brien, one excellent year from Vinny Testeverde and thats it.

I am obsessed with finding a franchise QB and won't watch the Jets again until I have some belief in the QB. No more McCown and Fitzpatricks for me.

So Geno didn't do it for ya, Brewers?

Um no. I think that Sanchez had potential but was never going to realize it with Rex as coach.

The last Jets head coach with an offensive background was Rich Kotite. They hire all first time defensive coaches who all ignore the QB position. Not tanking this season and landing a QB is the last straw for me.

And I'm sure quality games like dodgeball or bombardment are right out. Kids lining up along a wall with little room to move & one kid whipping a rough over-inflated rubber ball at them. That's just a great fuckin' game right there! Learns the little shits some coordination & how to quickly react. Probably be fewer teen driving accidents if they still played that in school, think about it...

I am ready to give up on the NFL also. The constant tinkering of the rules and especially what they have done to defenses just makes the product shit.

They can go on all they want about player safety but in reality its star player safety. The NFL couldn't care less if a no-name OL or DL goes down with a concussion, only marketable players.

Also, fantasy football is killing the sport. That's why I refuse to get involved in it. Several of the rule changes in the past few seasons seem directly related to generating fantasy stats. It sounded conspiracy-theoryish when I fist heard that idea but now I'm coming to the same conclusion.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're succeeding but every time they tinker, like with the emphasis on contact beyond 5 yards for instance, the intent is to bolster offense and stats.

I see a consistent theme to all the rule tinkering and its offense offense offense.

Watching Brady trying to run to get a 1st down last night was excruciatingly painful to watch.

Pretty sure you could hear his knees creaking.

I cringe whenever I hear of a current qb break some old passing record. Im like you did but you really didnt lol

If they gave 2 fucks about player safety surely they wouldn't be playing on Thursday every week.
