Pretty much a regular
First off, I am a Philly fan. I have seen wacky things with these two, and nothing, absolutely nothing surprises me when they play. But I will try to figure it out anyhow:cheers:
In football, I always like to start with the lines. I judge the lines based on run efficiency, run defense, sacks, and sacks allowed. The winners in each:
Run efficiency: Eagles
Sacks allowed: Giants
Sacks: Eagles
Run Defense: Giants
Let's not forget though that the Giants D-line stats were accumulated with Strahan in the lineup, and he of course is out tomorrow.
The Giants were 2-5-1ATS against teams with a winning record this season. The Chiefs were in a similar spot yesterday and we all know how that worked out for them.
The Eagles were 2-2 in the same situation.
The G-Men gave up 30ppg to Philly in their two meetings, and the Philly offense has actually IMPROVED since losing McNabb if you didn't notice. Jeff Garcia was made for this kind of O, and it shows. The Giants have the 4th worst pass D in the NFL and I think an accurate arm like Garcia will be able to exploit that. I think we will see lots of 5-10 passes, long drives down the field, and lots of points again for Philly.
Philly's not so secret weapon...
Westbrook is going to go off in this game. In the 1st 8 games of the season, Westy had 135 touches from scrimmage. Since, he has had 182 in the past 8 weeks, about an extra 6 touches/game, and that is COUNTING the 1 touch he had vs. Atlanta. Here is the point. Whether it was because Reid is a bonehead and didn't utilize him early, or because he was making a conciencious effort to save West for the stretch run, the guy is fresh and healthy. He is in better shape than anyone else on the field. He hasn't gone through the same grind as everyone else, and he along with many of the starting Birds essentially got a week off last week.
Meanwhile, the G-men slugged in out with a bottom-dweller, and are a physical mess. I am not even sure they want to be here, save 1 guy who doesn't quite seem ready to retire.
Then there is the mental factor. The Giants are up to their usual BS, talking trash as an 8-8 team:down: Plenty of BB material, in fact, Brandon Jacobs has a quote hanging in the Novacare complex right now, thanks man! Mannings in the playoffs, yikes. Peyton looked like trash, Eli should follow suit. The Eagles should be able to key in on the run, and I am sure Jim Johnson will have some lovely blitz packages ready for that wimp at Q. Homefield in the playoffs, it only gets better. We have 1 team ready to challange for the trophy, another that seemed ready to go home 2 weeks ago. I will lay a TD with the better, motivated home team that has rested starters and a QB and RB with chips on their shoulders and something to prove ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Then if you tell me it is against a fragile QB and a team of malcontents, well, I will do it three times on Sundays.
