Penn State vs. Boise State Discussion Thread

cake walk for pen st. Dunno what the number is but I’ll happily take Jeanty under rushing, after he gets shut down it look a lot like today did. Boise as the 3 seed gotta be one the biggest jokes in ncaa history, not sure who Mr peanut sucked off for this draw but he be a hero after these playoffs. He might even get to the final after 2 easy ones to ease into it! Boise st deserves to be the 3 seed about as much as iu deserved to be in.

Coaching matters.

PSU was wildly unimpressive in the 1h today offensively (at least for the first 26 mins).

I think the big part of capping this one is to judge how the Boise defense is from Week #2 of the season to now. Have they improved enough?

That's the key here.

Aller looked unimpressive for more parts of the gm today then one would think looking at that score. His footwork on throws is awful on runs on 3rd down though he got it done😆 . Not sure though if Boise is the team to make Aller beat them throwing the ball in the pocket

Yeah, he wasn't good at all.

Overall, PSU offense was very subpar.

As always, cap those trenches!

Allar has been and continues to be so overrated. Pocket presence is really bad once you get someone in his face and his decision-making is suspect. But this isn't the situation where Allar will be asked to win the game for PSU. Once that's the case, it's time to go into full fade mode on him which I never hesitate to do.

Agreed.

Let's not forget the 'Frames' factor either. He's going to cost them sooner rather than later.
He’s so lucky they won big. Because to pay a guy that kinda money and make reckless decisions like that is frightening.
Not ONE person thinks that’s a good move. Except Small Game James.

The committee just did such an awful job seeding these teams and we are left with Ohio State playing Oregon this early while Penn State gets a total gift of SMU followed by Boise.

Bought a Boise state ticket to ride last week @ 75/1.
Live running dog against Big Game James....
Gotta love it.

Still have my .1 unit to win 75 units alive, cracks me up.

That's the playoffs though -- find some value.

The committee is garbage but they were hamstrung with the auto seeds too.

We knew all year this was possible.

I'm shocked at the outage just now showing up the last week or so in the internets.

I won't bump my PSU in the offseason stuff, but I'm feeling good about it!

Who's telling you this?
Lets just say that plenty of fans of the team that drafted Hackenberg think Allar is the next Josh Allen and wanted the Jets to pick him in the next draft and are extremely disappointed that he has announced he's coming back to Penn State. Personally I think the kid sucks and wouldn't waste a pick on him in any round.

You need to run from these people dude.

Obviously you can hedge if they make the finals. 75/1 to beat Penn state and probably Notre Dame? That’s good value.

All the talking heads that were cheerleaders for these overmatched teams are now asking why the games are blowouts. Tells me they either don't watch games, or they don't really believe what they are saying.

Yeah, can't complain.

We laid out 5 or 6 bets at 3am last January 9th or whatever after the championship game.

Tennessee
Ole Miss
Boise

Were among to those.

Wild to think now that BSU was +75000. Nuts!

Hence the 10 bucks lol.

Neither team has ever lost the Fiesta Bowl but Boise track record is only from 07. PSU always plays well in Tostitos games- doubt this is different.

Drew Allar isn't a big game QB. I know Boise's QB hasn't played in many but Allar has lost just about every big game he's been in. Playoffs last week was SMU throwing to the wrong team over and over.

It was early- but Boise was very impressive at Oregon earlier in the year. PSU D better- but not sure they have the O to blow this Boise squad out
Didn't Boise also give up 50 points to Troy the first week. That's why trying to compare games early in the year can be useless. I guess you could make the point that Troy's offense is better than PSU's.

That's exactly what several Penn State fans I know here in Buffalo say ..." He might be the next Josh Allen " 🤣 🤣 🤣..

I think he'll be lucky to be the next Kyle Allen

Very possible.

I always say to cap trenches first and foremost.

PSU isn't a top 4 team but very well could be in that final 4 just due to matchups.
Based on PFF data Boise outmatched in trenches. I lean PSU mostly because of the Boise QB, he is just not good and usually when we see closer games like this is a talented young qb or senior vet type. He is neither

11 is quite alot tho. Big opening for a back door.

Wait wait wait (and I'm joking)...

We're using PFF now? ;)

PSU QB is an enigma.

Up, down and all around.

He can be all world and he can be a very average QB.

That game last week simply wasn't impressive for PSU.

I don't know if I've ever seen Allar be all world. He's an average QB, not sure there's a "can be" in there. He's an accident waiting to happen when people get near him in the pocket. And all too often it seems like his passes are one hoppers.

Mentioned above that he'll be prime fade material in the semis. I don't think PSU will need him to play a big part in the game tomorrow night.

PSU is a team that feeds off games like these. This is dream scenario. PSU comfortable, as the clearly better team knowing they can dominate if they play their best and won’t be threatened too much as Boise just doesn’t have that skill level and depth. Franklin covers these kinds of games guys, this is right on his wheelhouse. He wins these games and tries to cover them to puff chest out. Next week you may want to fade, this is not that week imo. 34-17 Fighting Franklins. Nick Singleton goes HAM Franklin pounds chest that he’s now beaten two top 10 teams. As Limp Bizkit sang, just think about it!

Yup. This is a game that's tailor made for Peanut.

I'm still on the Jeanty prop at 129 yards. I think he gets 35 carries, regardless of how the game is going, needing 132 yards to break Sanders' record.

He not gonna get it I don’t think. I love his under. Boise oline isn’t even that great he just ran over crap mountain west defenses. I don’t think he gets 120 honestly. Maybe I’m wrong but I been pretty strong when to play his over and unders, think them opening him in low 120s days a lot.

Mr Peanut could never get in the playoff because he couldn't beat Mich and Ohio St. No Michigan on schedule, lost to Ohio St at home. Didn't have to play Oregon until title game. Lost. And is rewarded by getting SMU and Boise to get to the semifinal. What a great system.

My gut tells me this game is setting up to be just like the Michigan game. The line can’t be high enough - people keep betting the fave.

Not suggesting Penn State isn’t good, but they certainly aren’t great. And they aren’t 12+ points better than Boise, in my opinion.

Thats why they play the game, though!
