I don't buy into that rumor. It would take alot of shaving to get Pitt to win SU. Need to have a ton of people in on that one for it to work.

How greedy would you have to be to make your team lose straight up? Shaving points ATS wouldn't bother me as much at all, but he would have been willing to give up a chance at the national championship if he did this. That's the only thing that makes me not believe that this is possible.

no way in hell point shaving? who cares but to throw away ur chance at going down as one of the best dul threat qbs in college football i dont think so

Do we seriously have an entire thread devoted just because some idiot on the internet wrote 2 sentences?

I don't believe it for a second.

I personally don't believe it either. But at the same point it makes for intersting talk. I love finding small things in games/this/that that show players shaving. I.E. the Toleodo boys and Memphis in CBB..and the PG at ASU a few years back.

He'd be jeopordizing his entire career, NCAA and NFL. What pro team would take him after he'd been involved with taking a dive like this?

and do you really think he'd throw the chance to play for the Championship away?

Let me add a little more doubt to this rumor. I doubt that someone who was an active conspirator in a point shaving scheme would allow their friend to place a wager at a Las Vegas casino where every win over $10K must be reported to the IRS.

is this even possible?

I understand it as 2 bets for $5000 each, on the ML is the assumption.

Ok so thats $10,000 on the ml and the reported winnings was $4,000,000

I didn't even know there was a ML on this -28 spread but lets just assume it was +7000

If you put $10,000 on a ML for +7000 you win $7,000 x 100 = 700,000

Obviously the ML had to be a lot higher, say +40,000

If you put $10,000 on a ML for +40,000 you win 40,000 x 100 = $4,000,000

Cmon now, where the fuk are they offering Pitt ML +40,000

I thought this was a thread about him transferring to Michigan.

Imagine what damage the kid would do in the Big Ten.

is rich rodriguez planning on running the 3-3-5 defense in Michigan?

Somehow i dont think thats gonna fly in the Big10...

when he fumbled late against Cincy for the 2nd time I swear I thought he was shaving, They even showed him on the bench after it happen. him and slaton were talking then he whispered something. and he had a huge smerk seemed fishy. Im a huge pat white fan and I hope this isnt true.

ha yea that fumble where he was barely touched n the ball flew out

Yeah, this is speculation in the absolute extreme. Especially when, as ETG rightly points out, there are huge holes in the argument.

How the hell could you possibly get that big of a ML?

Not to mention that if this ever got out you'd basically ruin your pro career.

I love a good conspiracy, but it's tough to see this being even a little bit true.

i know i could be way off on this one but i have quite a bit of money and i am in college but i have no where near 10,000 to play in a game. these KIDS not only had to get a hold of 10,000 but also be willling to risk it i am a gamler but even i dont trust my friends enough to blow 10,000 on them maybe losing one of there games?

First of all,

Pat White doesn't have a NFL 'career' ahead of him. He may catch on in some specialist role but thats about it.

This is obviously a rampant rumor but I am glad someone brought up that Cincy game.

This stuff happens in college guys. And not just from small schools. Current professional althletes have done as much.

I must say that MFER killed me in many of obvious first half missed covers.
I would have never thunk it but the ole wheels are turning now.
Imagine the money the kid could bring throwing games at Michigan.

Also, is it possible that Slayton is hurt and we dont know it but White does. If he knew that he couldnt win the BCS game even if he was in it potentially the motive to cash in before disappearing into the night.

I wasnt aware he would only get Troy Smith type draft attention.
