Pacers vs Knicks Series Discussion Thread

This feels like a toss-up, therefore I see the value in the dog.

Knicks have the bulldogs - they’re gonna be hungry and fierce. They want revenge.

I’d much rather have Carlisle than Thibodeau, even though neither coach excites me a ton. However, edge to Pacers.

Bench Strength. This is the difference maker for me. More important than the bench’s offensive production, I like the fact that the Pacers have the bench strength to never let their guys tire on defense.

Should be a fantastic series - like the mid 1990’s!

I was reading last year's thread and wanted to give the opener from last seasons second round series...

Knicks -6.5 and 215 in 2024 Game 1 (same venue)

I like Knicks Game 1. Knicks welcome the rematch of last season's series. I don't know how the series will go, but I think Game 1 bet on Knicks should be solid. Thibs doesn't react too well within the series, but he usually gets his team ready for the series. Will put some more thought about the series and will try to write my thoughts, but Game 1 Knicks -4.5 looks good regardless...

I went into the series planning on playing the dog in each game, because I think these teams are that close. That being said, tonight is most likely a stay-away game for me, although I think the small amount of value is on the Pacers.

This game would probably be Pacers -3 if they weren’t up 2-0. Instead, we have the Pacers at a measly -1.5? Why, though? No reason for it, other than the desperation of the Knicks, which isn’t a reason to bet them.

Nobody in the Pacers locker room is surprised they are up 2-0. Line is a little short IMO.

Agree completely, I don't think much of anyone who watches basketball is surprised the Pacers are up 2-0. They are the better team. Couple tight games but g2 would have really felt like the Knicks would have stolen it if they won, Pacers controlled that entire game. Obviously Pacers did steal g1 and sucked the life out of what I thought was the lesser team going in. That said I'll be on NYK 1h tonight due to a trend with teams down 0-2 but that's my only read on a side.

I mean I’m pretty surprised that haliburton shot actually fell to send gm1 to ot, that was about as lucky a win you can get. Not to mention Knicks were up like what 14 with 3 min to play? Knicks kinda returned the favor last night getting a W in a game they were outplayed for 3 qrtrs but we one lucky ass bounce from it being 2-1 Knicks. I’m really not sure who is better, I don’t think either has a chance in the finals tho.

Still leaning Pacers in 6 but that requires a win tonight.

Knicks road success continue tonight?

I don’t even know what props I like in this mess. Maybe I’ll steal @KJ Brunson ft prop again, that worked great last game and I assume nba would prefer this be tied at 2 or there gonna be a big gap to finals if both series go 4-1.

As a Knicks fan for nearly 50 years I would have been happier had they lost in the first round than lose in the ECF ....A first round loss would have likely gotten rid of Tibbs , he always plays the starters into the ground during the regular season , then when the playoffs come the bench is limited , and there is very little defensive cohesion. Always late rotating , which is usually a series killer in today's everyone shooting 3's NBA ...

Anyways , they could probably win any game vs anyone , and or get blown out by anyone ... 6-1 on the road is remarkable.

Would LOVE to see them win tonight !!!!

Bad feeling they'll need the refs to go full Donaghy for a NY win thou

We know NBA doesnt want indy/okc final

Do they really care ?
These greedy turds just got 7 billion per year TV/streaming contract ...

The regular season ratings were down ( with good reason ) , but apparently the playoffs ratings are up ...

IMO the NBA has never been worse ...Too many 3's , way too many commercials , horribly inconsistent officiating.

Drives me bananas watching players standing around with their shooting arms up after a shot instead of following their shots...Even at the JV level their ass would be on the bench after that lazy BS ..This low IQ play has unfortunately carried over to youth basketball, coaching my son's team has me on the brink of spontaneously combusting 🤣🤣🤣

there prob a little truth to that but they already been paid by whomever airing these finals so id say the network paying for it is less thrilled than nba. I know it most likely won’t draw the casual fan and I think okc will smash either team but I do think pacers will at least make for more interesting games, the pace they play at okc could avg 150 a game! That might draw some ppl in other than hardcore fans?

I dunno bout you but I personally love how after every shot a player feels the need to make that motion for coach to challenge! I’m glad somebody else as fed up with this new age nba product as I am!

Zarba is good for the Pacers in general but highly doubt he's the difference in the game just like all the other games in this series

Ref blame shame needs to be enacted

OG ov 2.5 steals/blocks.. he has went 6,2,4,5 this series, tough not to like this number.

Knicks changed up how they played Haliburton. He only attempted 7 shots. Not a hard adjustment for Pacers. If they play him like that again, which im sure they will, then other players must make open threes. which I think they will at home. Indy showed no emotion at all last night.

Knicks picked up the ball pressure and Indy didn't respond.

Hard to see them simply allowing Knicks to bully them all game again.

Brunson was fantastic when they needed to cool down a run.

Indy took off Game 5 vs. Cleveland but Cleveland was so epically bad shooting that they blew a 20 point lead. Indy did the same here.

I don't know... Tyrese has those kind of games sometimes. Not sure we should credit Knicks defense (solely) for that...

So facking annoying/
Painful as a life long Knicks and BILLS fans ...

Both Thibs and McDummy often challenge the most ridiculous/unimportant plays early in the game that they're clearly going to lose ...

In game 1 Thibs lost his challenge , late in the game a critical goal tend that was missed likely would have given the Knicks the win ...

Unless it a foul that would put one my key players into foul trouble there no chance I’m using challenges in the 1st half, when the last time a bucket or foul shots in the 1st half ever decided a game? Lol. Pretty much same thing in the nfl, the scoring plays are automatically reviewed anyways so what possible 1st half play he challenging that gonna really impact the outcome?

1000%

When they question Thibs and McDummy they always give some low brow answer on how a play in the first quarter can change the whole game ...Utter BS , but the local media here in Buffalo sucks McDummy's arm pit

All I can say to that is if they really believe that they must have 0 confidence in their team, especially the nba side but nfl not much different in that regard, and like I said above nfl reviews all turnovers and scoring plays anyway don’t they? I know scoring plays they do, I think turnovers also? Damn near ever Knicks game besides their wire to wire gm5 win has 20 point swings in the 2nd half so they be really hard pressed to convince me 2-3 points in the 1st qrtr makes a lick of difference in the outcome! But wtf do I know? Nobody paying me way too much to coach these teams unfortunately!

Thibs killed off who could have been in the argument for 2nd all time in D Rose with his silly rotations. He wouldn’t play these guy in the regular season but is playing them now out of desperation? Lament couldn’t get 12 minutes a game in regular season? Precious 10? Duece should have gotten more like 30-32 minutes a game.

These defensive gurus in sports who win with great offense and vice versa poss me off.

Been saying the exact same thing all season...Dude would leave the starters in 40+ minutes vs a 30+ point lead vs lowly Bobcats ...Drives me facking nuts ...

McDermott does the same thing with the BILLS defense , then everyone is supposed to be surprised when the BILLS lose to the Chiefs in the playoffs bc the back up linebackers/CB/S have NOT played since August , and they're covering Kelce , worthy , Hollywood etc ..

Making the Eastern conference final is going to doom my Knicks for years to come ...Thibs will probably get a statue outside MSG, next year he'll just do the same damn thing playing Brunson and co 42 minutes a game

And yes you're right , Thibs killed D Rose 🌹

Knicks turnovers the difference so far...

Crushing the boards...

But Pacers with a DD lead in points off turnovers.

Simple game, right!?
