Worse Opening day starter....Collmenter or Kendrick?
 
Yanks' line seems high. Sure, Tanaka is their ace but the Yanks aren’t necessarily the better team here and Tanaka wasn’t sharp his L2 outings of spring allowing 9 runs and 11 hits in 9 innings. Hutchison was very sharp this spring with a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings allowing just 12 hits and 5 walks in 18 innings. Reyes, Martin, Bautista, Encarnacion and Donaldson are an imposing 5 in the lineup. Elsbury, Gardner, Beltran, Teixiera, McCann and ARod were a combined 64 for 292 (.227) this spring with 6 HRs. Donaldson and Batista alone were 33 for 102 (.324) this spring with a combined 12 HRs.

Tanaka changing his pitching style and losing velocity because of it, he's still adjusting as long as the jays hitters are patient they will get their chance.

The A's haven't won on opening day since Apr 05, 2004 (0-10 SU on opening day L10). Half of those ten losses were because of Felix Hernandez. The Mariners are 7-0 SU on opening day in the games Felix has started, winning those seven games by margins of 4,5,2,4,2,2,7. Felix has allowed 10 runs on 28 hits with 13 walks in 53.1 innings pitched on opening day (1.69 ERA, 0.7688 WHIP).

The Angels visit the Mariners today. The Mariners went 5-0 SU in Felix's starts versus the Angels last season. They're 4-1 SU in Felix's home starts versus the Angels since 2013, with the only SU loss coming in a 2-0 shutout on Aug 23, 2013.

Gallardo is in a bad spot - making the first start for his new team on opening day. It's a spot that has produced a 15-27 SU record since the 2005 season started, including the pitchers in that spot this season who are already 1-4 SU since yesterday. A's already up 2-0 in the second.
