Opening Day Discussion Thread

On the PHILLIES run line , probably blind betting the Athletics all month as a dog. That being said fading Gilbert might not be a good idea

How do totals usually go on opening day? Lot of short leashes but lots of fresh pen arms and cold weather. Would think unders but who knows.

When can we expect the out gang to assemble @2daBank ? Need a few starts from each pitcher?

Bro I don’t even know what players on what teams. I was shocked when I heard Fried pitching for yanks. I havnt watched any preseason. It been all I can do to cap and play some hoops, baseball is a lot of work for me, I hate not being ready out the gates cause I often think it tough for them to line, the problem is they undoubtedly have a edge over me this year. It might take me a week or 2 depending on what going on w Theresa.

Fried on the Yanks and they rolling out Rodon in the opener though and I think Cole might need TJ surgery. I haven’t been following much closely either.

Yea I heard bout Cole being out same time I heard bout Fried, I hate the Yankees so didn’t break my heart but I was like “damn, seems like they have had serious pitching issues lately, the add a legit 2 and ace goes diwn”. Plus they let Soto take a cab down the street to Mets!! Also heard Stanton has 2 bad elbows now. Not sure if they added anything to lineup but it was really lacking when Stanton was out before Soto came over!!

I saw Sevi was gonna be A’s opening day starter. All a sudden they pretty interesting if all their other young pitchers healthy and coming along with some the young dudes in lineup that looked pretty good last year!

I caught one the Japan games between cubs/dodgers. Cubs added Tucker I saw, that a big blow to Houston but heard it was a trade so don’t know what Houston got in return? Not sure if bellinger left or was hurt? Tucker a minor upgrade but not monster difference to lineup if they lost bellinger. They needed another bat in lineup not to just swap one out.

dodgers look pretty much unbeatable, didn’t have Betts or freeman in lineup and it was still pretty decent, no clue bout Betts but sounded like freeman wasn’t anything to worry bout. What was really scary is their pen looks freaking unhittable as they kept trotting out one fur after another w stuff that ain’t getting hit very often! Really don’t know how they don’t win 110+ without major injuries

What’s the deal with starting all of these games so late? Not one game can start at noon or 1? Silly to have them going up against the NCAA tournament. Not that they really care but just stupid.

I read its MLB's efforts to adapt to different types of viewership and habits now. I think a lot of it is for the school kids, but I'm not familiar with one kid who's into MLB anymore, despite what Manfred is saying about fan engagement for kids going up last season.

Bibee has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Royals due to acute gastroenteritis, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

I mean who knows he could be right. I used to hate watching baseball and loved NBA. I can’t stomach watching anyone besides maybe the Clippers for more than 5 minutes. MLB is an easy and entertaining watch these days.

Kinda agree here. NBA was my thing in the 90s over everything else. I haven't watched more than 10 minutes of a game since 2000.

I'm actually kinda surprised a kid in today's day and age would have the attention span for MLB, regardless of pitch clock, or their social media engagement.
