Will it matter ????
Both of these squads are more than capable of winning the Super Bowl.
When these teams met previously the BILLS were without
MATT MILANO. Last week was the 1st time he's looked healthy since the injury in London last season. Sure he came back for the RAMS game but it was obvious his legs/fitness was nowhere close to game ready. After sitting out the meaningless games to close out the season Milano looked like himself last week vs the Broncos. We saw it first hand when he spied on Nix last week on a critical 3rd down , Bo rab quickly towards the sideline where Milano tracked him down making the tackle forcing a punt ... Throughout the game Milano was plugging gaps vs the run , also dropping back in pass coverage ( his speciality ) ..
Terrell BERNARD
At times he looks like an all pro lb vs the run and pass. With Milano back Bernard can do more of what he does best .( Make plays )
VON MILLER
Has looked like a shell of his former self most of the season. Appears VON was saving all his juice or maybe just got healthy at the right time . During the last month of the regular season Miller showed some signs that he was getting close to 100%...Sure he's not Super Bowl MVP Von , but he's coming off 6 pressures of Bo Nix. More impressive he was consistently chasing the ball all over the field, something he has not done in almost 2.5 years here ..The spin move looks quicker than it has anytime during his tenure with the BILLS . Looks extra motivated on what could be his last hurrah at another ring .
TARON JOHNSON.
He might be the key to stopping or at least slowing down the Ravens offense ( only scored 3 points ) .. During the playoff win vs Baltimore during COVID Johnson was everywhere , run blitzing , dropping in zone , Spying on Lamar , and back in nickel coverage ( known as a lock down nickel corner ) .. His 103 yard pick 6 that day was just icing on the cake, as Taron was a major factor all game ..
Taylor RAPP
Suffered a concussion on his 16th snap last time they met. Great chance he plays a good amount of snaps in the box ..
On offense
What a difference a year makes. Josh Allen is no longer forcing 8+ balls a game into double/triple coverage throwing to Diggs ...Gabe Davis only showed up every 6 or so games, mainly due to his lack of route running ( only ran 3 routes ), and poor hands .
This is the best , most diverse offense the BILLS have ever had imo ..
Starts up from with this being the best BILLS O line since the early 90's...Dawkins is playing with a major chip on his shoulder as he thought 1st team all pro was his The whole line has done a wonderful job both run and pass blocking ..They're all full of piss and vinegar as known of them got any recognition this season .
BILLS have established a bruising 12 personal with bruising menace Alec Anderson as the extra lineman who pulls , goes in motion , ultra physical on every play ..Knox , Kincaid , Hollins and Coleman make for mismatches at the line of scrimmage and down field with play action...
Just when you have the right personal on the field vs the 12 , the BILLS switch to 3,4+ wide receivers causing new matchup problems.
Shakir is 2nd in the league in yards after catch behind Chase, which is amazing most of his passes are on short routes. 82 catches for 882 yards... Led the league in catch rate last season.
Cooper has made the most of his limited targets , often used as decoy drawing the oppositions best corner and or bracket coverage.
Mack Hollins will do anything the bills ask . Deep routes , crossers, fades, hooks, outs whatever. Widely regarded as as one of the best blocking receivers at the line of scrimmage or down field after the completion. He also does an excellent job selling his routes during running plays or when Josh takes off ..
Curtis Samuel is like a secret weapon right now. Barely used until last week where he ran 12 routes he hasn't ran all season..Sure he only had 3 targets but he made the most of them ( TD , and a big first down) .
Dont be surprised if they go right back to him this week , maybe even a jet sweep or trick play ???
Decent chance he's the safety valve for Allen on a good sharp of his drop backs .
Keon Coleman has been a beast. 19.2 yards per catch on 29 receptions ...Extremely physical high jumper who appears to have gained Josh's trust within the first month of the season. Missed 4 games .
Keep your eyes peeled for a deep ball or 2 on Sunday ..
TY JOHNSON is who Josh Allen calls the best 3rd down back in the league. Major matchup problem for linebackers when split out wide or running routes out of the backfield ...Great hands, super quick ....I can't wait to pound his total yardage totals if 29 .5 or less
JAMES COOK has breakaway speed while not being afraid to run for those tough yards between the tackles.
Current weather forecast has a cold front moving in Sunday morning ... 20% chance of snow at kickoff throughout the game with temps 14-16 degrees ( real feel 7 degrees ).
