Ohio State vs. Oregon Discussion Thread

Can't beat the scene and will have a old fashioned matchup for it.

Good stuff.

Oregon was the better team the first time, despite the close finish.

I want to watch that one again and hopefully find a few nuggets.

Decided this is my late night viewing on Monday. I'm looking at that box and what a fascinating game. So looking forward to this one.

Based upon how the initial matchup played out and the venue (lack of weather concerns), will be taking a long look at over 53’. Yes, OSU’s defense has progressed significantly since the first meeting but no one else on their schedule was close to Ducks’ offense. Igbinosun and Burke still mistake/penalty-prone on the back end and UO can exploit that.

Oregon D was pretty bad in the big ten title game. Allar missed several easy throws and psu still scored a ton. If we get the Howard from last night, osu should have no problem scoring.

PSU kept sticking with the run and getting big chunks because Oregon was playing zone up 10-14 for the majority of the game. Score was misleading imo. Oregon overwhelms opponents on offense with their balance and tempo....it can lead to their defense being on the field a lot. Their red zone defense definitely is an issue.

Extra notes...Burch did not play last game. OSU kicker is 1 of last 4. One was a 60 yard try though. Could be the diffference in a toss up game.

How do we think each team has changed in the last 10 weeks?

I personally don't think either has changed much. OSU defense is stout. That's their identity. On offense they really attacked the Vols early with the pass but I'm not putting much stock into that game. Oregon is fast and physical and a diffferent planet than the Vols especially offense. A true coin flip game where the little things will matter, like a 4th down go for it or punt? FG's, refs, etc.

OSU secondary was burned last game by Ducks bad. I do think OSU's secondary is better now than then....but again, Oregon just a different breed of a team on offense than really anyone this year.

No doubt on the small things potentially deciding the outcome.

Remember, in the first match the Ducks missed 2 pt conversions on their first two scores.

Ohio State fumbled to set up the first Oregon TD

Oregon missed a FG near the end of the 1Q.

Oregon was SOD at the OSU 2 yard line with 3-4 left in the 3rd.

We all know how the game ended...

One other note: Real grass field (LOVE it)

Bonus: Oregon 11-17 this year on 4th down

Oregon was blah a lot of this season. Not sure their style translates well to the grass, either. They should have lost to a pathetic Wisky team. Should have lost to a one dimensional Boise squad who is going to lose by 4 touchdowns next week. And should have handled OSU easily at home but squeaked their way by.

That's quite the hot take

I don’t think Bucks can stop Oregon. Howard has to be great. I think Lanning has em ready…should be fun.

I think everyone who bet vols getting little to high on osu now. I knew if osu threw the ball they would smash vols. So doesn’t really change my opinion, I think it gonna be close, not sure either team gets stops although the 55.5 total kinda scares me cause im sure im not only one thinking over, lol. Hope I can get +3 w ducks, it be small play, I’ll prob be looking for props all over that game.

So far

Embuka ov 60.5 rec
Embuka td -125

Tez ov 76.5
Tez td ev

Gabriel ov 254.5 passing

Felt like those 2 WRs had best td value, they all could score: but least amount of juice on these 2 who both be heavily involved. I’m not sure if osu comes out passing the same as against vols or they look to run more here, more confident in Gabriel yards at the moment but hell I could be on Howard also before all said and done.

That 2.5 just hanging on, I’m still holding out hope more Ohio st money comes and I can get ducks +3, think that only way I’ll be on side here: wouldn’t be able to pass ducks getting a Fg, short of that prob pass on side.

Yeah +3 would be nice.

Ducks TT has my attention

Other than the Embuke, tez, and Gabriel props I did play some ducks tt over 26.5 I think it was last night, that def seemed like a good way to go about it. If they get held under 27 they prob got whipped anyways.

+3 -113 at pinnacle now which means other books will be heading that direction as well. But I would anticipate heavy buyback at +3 so it may not last long it it comes up.

I been waiting for it all week, lol

Just played both qbs over 1.5 tds. The juice fairly low considering both have only had 2 games all year they didn’t throw for 2+ TDS and I assume both were in worse conditions than there be at the rose bowl. I know the defenses solid and maybe they play better getting second chances but I find it super tough to think this game isn’t played around 30 at the lowest.

I know it square but I just hit the over 56, shoulda did it at 55.5 but whatever a push won’t hurt my feelings since I think this gotta be the squarest total on today’s card.

I’m sorry, but I don’t get the OSU love here. Is it all recency bias bcs they stomped a freshman QB at home in cold weather in the first round game?

Think back to how this team performed in what everyone in Columbus calls their “Super Bowl” against Michigan. That team was absolute ass.

Now the argument is that OSU almost beat Ducks on their home field if not for Howard sliding a second too late….in Mid-October!
This Ducks team is WAY different now than they were then. Jordan Burch is a difference maker and didn’t play in that game.
Dan Lanning can out Coach Ryan Day in his sleep. The lack of respect that the Ducks are getting here is laughable to me.
OSU’s o-line is down 2-3 from their first meeting Oregon has their best defensive player back. I think Ducks win the LOS all day. Tez, Holden, Ferguson, James, etc… all have plus matchups. Yep, Jeremiah Smith is a talent, but if Howard doesn’t have time to throw, mistakes will be made.

I have Ducks ML
Also played Tez over 76-1/2
Gabriel o1.5 passing TD’s
Game over 53 (played at open)
Ducks alt line -3-1/2 +170
Ducks TT ov 26
Ducks 1st H ov 13-1/2

IMO, this team will be ready

I’m with most that. I fear osu talent a little more than you but other than that I mostly agree and on lot of those plays also so hope you crush!

Weather will not be an issue today. I am on the Ducks today, so that means OSU wins by 14. For anyone going to the game, don’t trash the golf course please!
