Pinnacle doesn't have a line up yet when I checked earlier, but scoping out some lines on 5Dimes and it seems to me that that the Sharks will be priced around +105-+110... As long as I'm getting + money I will be on the sharks. I'm capping this game based on situation as I enjoy fading Stanley cup champs on opening night at home as it is banner celebration and so there are some distractions for the team. The Sharks didn't lose too much on the blue line (Brad Stuart + Dan Boyle) but those moves allow for the sharks to move Burns back to the blue line where he plays very well. Upfront they still have talent to score.

2008-2009 (Pittsburgh) opened up 2009-2010 with a win
2009-2010 (Chicago) opened up 2010-2011 on the road with a loss, but their first home game it was a loss as well
2010-2011 (Boston) opened up 2011-2012 at home with a loss
2011-2012 (LA Kings) opened up 2012-2013 at home with a loss
2012-2013 (Chicago) opened up 2013-2014 at home with a win
2013-2014 (La Kings) open up 2014-2015 at home with a...?

Last 6 years Stanley Cup Champions are 2-4 in their first home games

I don't think the Sharks have forgotten about last years playoffs where they choked a 3-0 series lead

Vancouver play is based on the fact that the Flames are still young and did not add anything to their roster that will impact them this year. Sure they added Hiller but he's a notch down. Also, like the fact that Miller is out to prove himself this year. People concerned about Kesler leaving, but you replace his productivity with Vrbata who has put up similar numbers and will benefit even more playing with the twins. I actually really enjoy the canucks 4th line with Matthias/Hansen/Dorsett I really think that line can contribute to this team. Can't wait to see Bo Horvat playing once he's back from injury, kid is going to be real good.

Regarding the home town leafs, i'm not a leafs fan but more of a leafs supporter as I live in the city so with that in mind you need to realize that the media here feasts on the leafs, I mean over the summer TSN had just as much going on with the leafs on their page as they did with the Blue Jays during their win streak... I think Carlyle finally has the defensive pieces to run his traditional defense that he has had in the past. The addition of Robidas and Polak allow guys like Gardiner, Reilly and Percy (when he's ready to step in) to 'let loose' and be more aggressive on the attack. It also will cut Dion's minutes down which, in a more controlled environment, will benefit him much more. What the leafs are getting away from is that enforcer type hockey, and that's not to say they aren't going to forecheck and put out hits but they are going for more speed and skill. There was NO reason for them to carry Colten Orr, Mark Fraser and Mike Brown all at the same time, it took up minutes from the more skilled players. You can see the shift in identity already with this team and it's going more towards that LA Kings, Montreal Canadians type team where you can be fast, be aggressive and use more skilled players that may be smaller than having 3 enforcers eating up minutes.

That islander opener and line movement seem pretty telling. Watched the entire bruin game last night. Big win. Jimmy Howard was hot. Even tho Chara and the boys must be whipped. It would seem like they have revenge and a bit of momentum even if this is Canadian home opener. You are seeing it real good.
