A few days late, time to start out monthly discussion threads!
I'm a bit behind on the NBA so far this season but have been playing catch-up as of late.
My 'Stons are coming around after an uneven start. They sit at 6-2 with the opening night loss to Chicago and being blown out at home by the Cavs. Mello Yellow was a bit off shooting the ball early on but is absolutely cooking the last few games. He's an all NBA guy imo. Jalen Duren is potentially taking that next step as well. Ausur is also playing excellent basketball. Watch out when Ivey gets back!
Oklahoma City finally lost tonight but are playing the part of defending champs better than most!
The Lakers have the 2nd most wins in the league. Are they shopping LeBron!?
Back to the East... The Chicago Bulls are 6-1. Wow. Six players averaging between 11-23 points. Ole boy Giddey is averaging nearly a triple double at 23-10-9. Nikola solid as always!
You have to feel for the Pacers. Potentially a champ if Hali was healthy and now 1-7 with a murky future.
The Southeast division is the definition of murky. Orlando off to an uneven start as well at 3-5. I know I was slightly lower than most on them, but I still expect a division title from this bunch...
Sticking with Orlando, you know I lament about their offense. To me, the style from last year was antiquated. Last year they averaged 105.4 on offense, 3rd worst in the league. They allowed 104.5, BEST in the league...
Now, this year, they are averaging around 115+ a game but also giving up 115+ (actual differential is .80).
Orlando Magic games have jumped 20 points this year!! But, they are still 4-5 to the over lol. The books knew ahead of time. So, where are the points coming from??
The Magic averaged 11.1 made three's last year.
That has actually dropped to 10.4 so far through 8 games.
They attempt basically the same amount of FG's a game this year (85+).
The added points are from the FT line. Orlando LEADS the NBA in attempted FTs, up EIGHT attempts from last year.
Is that a style change? Or are we seeing the games called differently? More on that next post...
Anyways, discussion all November let's find some winners! Sorry for my tangents but wanted to do some capping and chatting tonight.
