NHL to Houston?

Houston makes a ton of sense because a) It's a large city most importantly but b) they support their MLS team incredibly. That should equate to support for hockey in my book.

Make no mistake, NHL is expensive, same as NBA really and that's always looked at when it comes to expansion, who will be required to give up A for B...city the size of Houston should have plenty of people relocating from the North that would love a team. Hell if Tampa, Carolina, Miami can make it work, Houston can.

I'll leave out PHX because of the unique circumstances regarding ownership and arena, but that's gonna be done in a couple years too.

Arizona doesn’t have an arena after this season. Rumor is the Rockets owner is willing to add another tenant to where they play.
LOL the deal with Tempe is all but signed and sealed.

They're waiting on the agreement with the sportsbook partner.

NHL will not move from here no matter how much people (even here) want them to, youth hockey is thriving and the market is huge

Yotes in Tempe/Scottsdale/Mesa corridor suddenly jerks revenue up threefold

They’ve been dicking around with that proposal for awhile and haven’t gotten anywhere
It's damn near done

That's why a book doesn't want to sign on in Glendale

Also understand that Circa is licensed but hasn't agreed to a partner here yet. That will be a mecca at 202/101

Ok. Well you’re there and I’m only able to read articles. I guess only time itself will reveal the mystery of the next AZ Coyotes home.

They need to change their name to Phoenix or Valley. Fuck this state couldn't give two flips about them, but put that arena there it will be an event.

Buddy has 4 season tix betting on it, the cow pasture in Glendale and hour long drives from the money in this city was doomed from day 1 but Bettman wanted everything to have his prints on it

Think a lot of people were ok if they moved but NHL refused, they wanted this location so might as well juice it up

Move em to quebec or houston already

On Dec. 3, the Arizona Department of Revenue filed a tax lien notice in Maricopa County against IceArizona Hockey LLC, the company that owns the Coyotes, for more than $1.3 million in unpaid state and city taxes. The City of Glendale, which has been locked in a lengthy dispute with the Coyotes over delinquent bills, has already notified ASM, the Gila River Arena management company, and Coyotes team president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez of the cancellation of the Coyotes’ business license.

The City of Glendale is owed approximately $250,000 in unpaid city taxes, according to a letter from City Manager Kevin Phelps to Gutierrez, and the remaining amount is owed to the state. The state tax lien notice, obtained via a public records request, asserts that the Coyotes owe taxes dating back to June 2020.

The Coyotes, according to the notice sent to ASM and to the team, will have until 5 p.m. MST on Dec. 20 to pay the outstanding arena invoices from the 2020-21 season, as well as the outstanding tax bill. If they do not settle up the remaining debt by that time, the City of Glendale has instructed ASM to deny team employees access to the arena and the offices within the arena used as administrative space. Arena vendors would also be locked out
