NHL Round One Playoffs

Sniffing out wins
HAvent had time to post much hockey but I sure look forward to the playoffs each yr. Not sure what posted record is for season but the pucks have not been great for me to say the least. Up about 13.7 U for season but way below where I had hoped to be.
lets see if we can win some coin now.
52 Tampa Bay Lightning* -120 vs Montreal Canadiens x half
52 Tampa Bay Lightning* +1 -230 vs Montreal Canadiens x half
51 Montreal Canadiens/Tampa Bay Lightning* Over 5 -110 x half
Hard for me to go agains Montreals netman Price both on the side and total but Tampa is hot and at home and that has been tuff for the Canadians to overcome this yr

x1
54 Pittsburgh Penguins* -200 vs Columbus Blue Jackets x1
54 Pittsburgh Penguins* -1 -119 vs Columbus Blue Jackets x1
53 Columbus Blue Jackets/Pittsburgh Penguins* Over 5 -140 x1
big price to pay for Pens with a goalie that can win postseason but Pittsburgh has the Bluejackets # this season

56 Anaheim Ducks* -160 vs Dallas Stars x1
55 Dallas Stars/Anaheim Ducks* Under 6 -170 x1
I think this one stays close all the way as Dallas gave the Ducks all sorts of problems in the regular season but the Ducks good offense will find a way to get more nets

Bloodhound I have followed you for awhile, I am curious you seem to be playing a lot of heavy favs. Don't you think there is extreme value in the dogs this year, as no team really sticks out. I am personally playing dogs while coming out a winner if I clip along at 35-40% versus constantly having to strive for 65-70% winners.

Thanks for taking time and stopping by the thread YoungGun. I once though about writing a book about capping sports and playing the big favorites and now that WiretoWire is retiring and will have more time we may still do it. :)
U are correct, I do play heavy favorites but ''a lot'' is relative term. And I certainly dont think one can make a blanket statement that ''there is extreme value in the dogs this year''. I do think there can be some good value in some dogs though. I do not think a capper can win consistently playing ''all'' favorite or all dogs. I capp each and every game. I have a number of things that I look for to make a decision on whether the ''perceived value'' in a dog is real. Is the # that the man puts on a game just what he thinks the public wants or are there some underlying subtleties behind his appointed # that really means something. When there’s a large enough difference between the Vegas number and how I see a particular matchup I make a play. While the fav/dog ratio differs for me in each sport,it just so happens that over 70% of the time in the NHL I favor the favorite and am lucky enough to make enough coin to buy some beer.
If U are winning playing dogs stick with it cause there is lots of coin to be made if u win consistently.
Many cappers talk about winning on dogs but by the end of the season they are nowhere to be found :) Why is that?? The problem is that teams often aren’t capable of winning at a high enough rate to create a profit, so you slowly go broke by betting on them. The trick is to be able to assess when a heavy underdog is a sound bet, and when it is not. Evidently U can do that and I certainly wish U continued success....I cant... but wish I could do a better job at what I do....as I just lost my ass on the Braves game

I wont steal your thread however I will be playing this.... I am a Minnesotan who closely follows the Wild.

PHILLY OVER 5 -115
HAWKS OVER 5.5 140 is this really 140?
Colorado OVER 5 Bryz is playing awful lately and the Wild have a young D core that will likely be exposed.
COLORADO -120 This price is generous at home. The wild are good, but this is a tough place to play in high altitude, and on a side note, not that long ago the wild as HUGE underdogs ended PAtrick Roys career at this very building in game 7. He will be out for revenge, here and will press hard.
KINGS OVER 4.5 -145 i AGREE WITH MOST THIS WILL BE A LOW SCORING SERIES, BUT THERE ISNT ANY ROOM FOR ERROR AT 4.5. Also in the playoffs teams are willing to pull their goalie down by 2 with nothing to lose, that has killed many good under plays.

Played the under in Montreal tonight. It's playoff hockey,TB needs to be solid. Yesterday's Blues game was nuts. Enjoy the games. Gl. You have such a great attitude.

Thanks for stopping by Johhny...damn lonesome around here LOL :) I do agree that TB needs to get with the program.
I am waiting to see if TB gets Palat as he is their leading scorer. Even banged up he can make a difference. If he doesnt play I may be on the Under with U. Also need to see if Lindback is going to be in the net as he hasnt looked good at all.

I will post this game just before tip
