I actually like the Lucic deal, he's pas it

but moving Dougie for that is insane

since they seem to be going full rebuild might as well move Rask, Chara, and Bergeron now too

Bergie not going anywhere -- will be a lifer.... the other 2.. possibly...

poor Lindros not getting to HHOF....

Such a random process, kind of like the old boys club is just not putting him in to show their power

Kapanen is a good player, there has to be more on this return though

Harrington isnt a big prospect and the 1st is going to be bottom 10

Sid and/or Geno are pumped though, best winger either of them will have ever played with in the NHL

I thought Nashville would offer more, either way have to factor in too that this makes them worse, closer to a top 5 pick next year which is the goal

they dont want to be winning games until 2 years down the line

haha Ferraro

"if Kapanen was going to deflect a shot in at the world juniors he would have needed a 46 foot stick"

they are saying his problem is he sticks to the outside, think Babcock will help him

Who's the best C Kessel's ever played with? Marc Savard? Mikhail Grabovski? Man, if Kessel doesn't put up 40+ next season...

Legendary New York Islanders coach Al Arbour has died at the age of 82.

An official cause of death was not given though Arbour had been battling dementia for quite some time. The Islanders confirmed Arbour’s passing on their website.
Arbour coached the Islanders to four Stanley Cup championships from 1980-83. He was known for his ability to motivate, as well as his large glasses, which helped give him the nickname “Radar.”
“Al will always be remembered as one of, if not, the greatest coaches ever to stand behind a bench in the history of the National Hockey League,” Islanders President and General Manager Garth Snow said. “The New York Islanders franchise has four Stanley Cups to its name, thanks in large part to Al’s incredible efforts. From his innovative coaching methods, to his humble way of life away from the game, Al is one of the reasons the New York Islanders are a historic franchise. On behalf of the entire organization, we send our deepest condolences to the entire Arbour family.”

Said Islanders great Bryan Trottier in an interview with the New York Daily News last summer.
“He was probably our father figure in the fact that we all respected him so much," Trottier said. "He had a great command of the room and at the same time he had a big man's presence. He had won a lot of Stanley Cups as a player with several different teams, he played with great players, so he always brought that credibility with him. For us to sit down with him one-on-one or when he was in front of us as a team, he had a great presence and we loved the man…we all love Al for all of the great times we had together and his leadership."
Arbour was named Islanders coach in 1973-74. With the Islanders, he amassed a 740-537-223 record over 19 seasons. He won 119 career playoff games which is an NHL record for most with one club. Arbour ranks second in wins and games coached behind Scotty Bowman. He also coached 107 games with the St. Louis Blues, posting a 42-40-25 record. His final full season came in 1993-94 at the age of 65. He was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1996.
When Arbour left the Islanders, he had coached 1,499 games with New York, and returned to coach one in 2007-08 in order to hit the magical 1,500 mark.
He was adored by Islanders fans and players alike. During his tenure he coached legends like Mike Bossy, Trottier and Denis Potvin.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario on Nov. 1, 1932, Arbour played 626 games as an NHL defenseman. He had 12 goals, 58 assists and 70 points between stints with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues from 1953-54 through 1970-71.

Edmonton under screams out at first, that's expecting a 26 point difference

Talbot is unproven in net, the defense after the top 2 is still really poor (maybe top 3 if Nurse can be good in year 1)

I get the McDavid effect but people forget in Sid's first season the Pens got 58 points, even with him scoring 102 points

Montreal under as well, even if Price regresses from being the best goalie int he league to the 5th best goalie they drop a bunch of points, not a lot of offense there

Agree on Edmonton under, McDavid is a stud but they are still a couple of years away from being real contenders.

I don't think they addressed their goal scoring woes this offseason? Price is due for regression.

Leafs can win 34 games this year
regarding this comment...Babcock brings alot of organization to this team and accountability...the goalies were told that he will only look to one goalie and that's it...No more see-saws, you win the job..don't know how many games the leafs blew last year cause of defensive lapses but Babcock will make that D core wayyy better...Dion's minutes should be down, Gardiner and Reilly will be much better under his tutelage..they can still score and i'm expecting some progress from Nazem as well.

Anyone think Halak will have the same type of year as last year? He's probably going to regress a bit this year.

lawyer for the victim in the Kane case is going all in

rape kit was tampered with, then dropped off at the vic's mothers house anonymously (guessing whistleblower), demanding that a department outside the Buffalo PD look in to it

Quick update here....the attorney has now removed himself from the case, because the bag that was found was a hoax (which many suspected all along)...the victim's mother is the one who had the bag all along. The bag had nothing to do with the rape kit, and was given to the mother when they went to the hospital to put the victim's clothing into. The attorney is literally just a fucking moron though, and basically got "catfished" by the victim's mother when she told the lie about the bag being dropped off on her doorstep and her having no idea who dropped it off.

Today, the Erie County DA held a press conference, in which they showed the chain of custody of the actual evidence through witness statements, documentary evidence, and....video evidence. Why the victim's attorney didn't simply do even the smallest amount of investigating to see if that bag was part of the evidence for the case is beyond me, and the DA (and everyone else) who asked as much in the press conference. When the attorney initially held the press conference about the evidence bag, he said a bunch of times that no one he spoke with (police officials, maybe crime lab personnel, etc) "disputed the authenticity of the bag," ad referenced the date and time on the label, as well as the birth date of the victim, and even the attending nurses' initials on the bad.

Sooooooo...you simply asked them if that bag looked like a bag that is used, realized the initials matched the nurses, date, time, etc....at no point did he bother to ask if that bag was missing from the evidence storage? At no time did he ask for the chain of custody of the evidence, at no time did he ask for any possible videos that may exist, ask to speak with people from the crime lab holding the evidence, etc??

He thought the best course of action was to call a press conference in the middle of the evening, to show this supposed smoking gun that was "left on the doorstep of the victim's mother by some cruel person," that was somehow going to show that what, exactly...one of Kane's "friends" in the police dept, crime lab, wherever was trying to fuck up the case and have it thrown out or something? Not even 2 days later he quits the case and basically admits that the mother catfished him.

I don't even understand wtf the mother possibly thought that what she tried to pull would actually do for her daughter and the case. If that was an actual piece of evidence, how would that have helped her daughter? The argument would have been that all of the evidence is now in question and the case would be pretty much shot. Which one is the bigger idiot....the mother or the attorney?

what do you guys think of the Caps this year? I haven't really studied NHL due to lack of time, but they seemingly had a good offseason. Thoughts?

I think their offense will be one of he better ones, but it's the D that scares me...Can holtby repeat what he did last year? if not Dan Ellis and Justin Peters are your backup... No Mike Green who was more an offensively + than a defensive +
