NFL Week 2 Tidbits

nbafan88

Pretty much a regular
Exciting week one of action...

Do. Not. Overreact.

Just some notes as I look at the matchups...

Jets/Pats: The jets should love seeing the pats on short rest this early in the season. Much better after the pats figure everything out with their new pieces... line opened at 10 and its up to 12.5-13... still no way in hell im backing the jets

SD/Philly: The chargers will be traveling on a short week to the east coast for an early sunday game... definitely will be on the eagles... hoping they get romped today vs the skins and hopefully the chargers pull it off vs the texans

What number would attract Jax money ?

When the Seahawks kicked the shit outta the Niners last year, the Niners were coming off a huge SNF game at Foxboro,v hard to bet against this Seattle squad @ Qwest field,I will be,Jim and the boys wont forget that shallacking.

Hopefully Griffin doesnt get hurt tonight, hes gonna sometime this term,Packers see a dual threat QB b2b.Hoping like nba the skins smash the eagles tonight, keep that line down.

Giants 5.5 dogs at home ?,is that line gonna stay there ?

Well the line opened at -3.5 and its up to -5.5 -6 with 3/4th of action on oakland... jacksonville is abysmal, yes.. i just dont know if I could put my money on the raiders

I agree. I really really like this san fran team. Boldin adds leadership and tremendous ability/reliability for kap... dont really know much about seahawks since i didnt see their game vs carolina

The packers game planned for the niners all off season whether consciously or not... they gameplanned to contain kap and they did a pretty good job... unfortunately boldin kicked their ass... they should do well against the skins i agree... i'll probably play the gb tt over, gotta see the skins tonight

Giants 5.5 dogs at home ?,is that line gonna stay there ?

well early action is all over the broncos.... i was talking in the ingame last night and predicted the line would be -10.... but i was thinking the game would be IN DENVER... this line is bonkers imo

the broncos are coming off a huge revenge win and now they peyton gets to face his younger brother in primetime with countless options to throw to against a giants defense that is just PATHETIC.... i dont see how the giants hold peyton and crew to less than 30... the defensive line was terrible last night and romo had an eternity of time...

I havent watched the Cowboys/Giants game yet, will tomorrow but man thats a lotta pts at home, also I have to see what Coughlin does about the RB position,David Wilson cant pass block, catch out of the bfield or keep hold of the ball, apart from that hes ok.

cool... this eagles performance will make sure everyones on the eagles next week...

it would just be fitting for the chargers to lose tonight and then cover next week lol

Surprised there was a line up already seeing as how neither team has played their Week 1 game yet.

linesmakers are gonna be clueless, you gonna try to guess the correct side? you might be right, they might be wrong, everyone might be wrong

if u are guessing, you are losing

After Wilson fumbled on his first carry Sunday night and added another on the Giants’ first possession of the second half, which was returned for a touchdown, in a season-opening 36-31 loss in Dallas, Coughlin reacted by benching Wilson again. But it is unclear how he will handle the young runner this year because Bradshaw, who was released by the Giants and then signed by Indianapolis, is not around to step in.
Coughlin, in a conference call with reporters Monday, declined to say whether he viewed Wilson as his starter.
“I’m not going to get into that,” he said. “We’ll see as we get started during the week.”
Without identifying players, Coughlin confirmed that the team will offer tryouts Tuesday to some veteran running backs, among other positions. Brandon Jacobs, who put together consecutive 1,000-yard seasons for the Giants in 2007-8, confirmed he will get a look. “I can’t let the opportunity pass me by,” Jacobs, a free agent, wrote on Twitter.
Coughlin said: “We’ll see if, in fact, there is an upgrade.”
Jacobs, 31, was able to barge over tacklers in his prime, averaging 5 yards a carry in each of his 1,000-yard seasons. But he averaged only 3.8 yards a carry (152 attempts, 571 yards, 7 touchdowns) in the last of his seven seasons with the Giants in 2011. He signed with San Francisco and appeared in only two games, carrying five times for 7 yards, before he was released in December.
As they begin preparing for Sunday’s game against Denver, the Giants also are considering Willis McGahee, who reached the Pro Bowl after running for 1,199 yards in 2011. He led Denver with 731 rushing yards last season despite injuring his right knee in November. McGahee, who turns 32 in October, was released in June.

I could of bet that if I had money with 2 firms into the 1st quarter of last nights game, even tho on the advance line from the LVH was 6.5,Im confused there.

BOSTON (CBS) — With a very short week to prepare for the New York Jets on Thursday night, the Patriots may have a bit of a problem.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Danny Amendola is “almost certain” to miss Thursday night’s Patriots game against the Jets due to his groin injury.
The 27-year-old receiver was not present during the portion of Tuesday’s walkthrough practice that was open to the media

and now it's -7

Perhaps Eagles FH maybe in order? First HG + early game for SD, I can see the Eagles coming out fired up and then sputtering in the 2nd half. It took the Reds 1 half to figure out Kelly's offense. Where as in college, he basically could run that all day against lesser opponents, until he went up against athletic defenses that was discipline.

Also, San Fran and Cardinals caught my attention. Like the San Fran angle and watching them on Sunday, their offense is solid. Granted Seattle at home is tough along with that D, but not to sure about the offense...unless they didn't opened up the playbook...hmmm!

I know AZ at home was good and now they have a decent offense that can move the ball. On paper, Detroit looks like money, but NFC West > NFC North. AZ with new HC, QB & RB makes it look good!

Chip Kelly's NFL debut: 77 plays, 443 yards, 33 points. Spurrier's NFL debut: 73 plays, 442 yards, 31 points.

Ok,maybe our books fucked up with that Packer line, cause summat doesnt add up there, anyhow

These lines were available for week 2 before all of week 1 had been played, when exactly?. I dont know. But anyway

Week 2 in the 2013 NFL season could be filled with nailbiters.
The LVH SuperBook in Las Vegas is the first to release “look-ahead” point spreads before the current week’s games have been played, and nine of the 16 Week 2 games are lined within a field goal or less, including seven that are exactly a field goal. (Compare that to just three Week 1 matchups that currently have spreads within a field goal.)
The closest of those matchups? The Cowboys at Chiefs is listed at a pick ‘em, while the Saints are 2.5-point road favorites at Tampa Bay. The only double-digit favorite on the board is the Patriots -12.5 against the Jets on Thursday Night Football.

Pats -11 -110 for me

geno's first roadie... pats first home game after the tough off season.... id be surprised if the jets score more than 10

Well that was not the way I wanted to start the week. The game went the way I feared if the pats didnt cover so I guess that's a plus?

this is kind of funny to me. Shows how prevalent fantasy football is to the players....

"White revealed he was supposed to be on a snap count of 10-15 plays against the Saints, but wound up with about 30 because the coaching staff "wanted me in certain areas to do certain things so that they couldn't just bracket guys." It could be a week or three until White is a fantasy asset. Roddy cautioned his Twitter followers this week to bench him for now.

Not RJ`s number 1 fan but w/e
theres some great stuff in there, even if you take any notice of it or not

The Eagles home opener oppo won SB last 4 years

thanks for posting p2w :shake: same again next week please

gonna reread it

yeah, not exactly fan of his either...just a good shortcut to some good info...I will try to post it every week if its available :shake:

Per PJ Walsh in ESPN Insider, here are records against the spread of 0-1 teams in week #2 since 2005:

All 0-1 teams in week #2: 58-64 ATS 47.5%

0-1 dogs in week #2: 40-31 ATS 56.3%

0-1 Home dogs in week #2: 21-10 ATS 67.7%

Four teams are 0-1 and home dogs this week: Bills +3; Bucs +3; Cards +2 & Gmen +4

FWIW

current leans:

Eagles 1H... prime spot i think, eagles offense will take some time to prepare for and the chargers body clock will be at 10 am on a short week... dont really trust the eagles d at all so I dont feel like playing the full game

Miami +1... not entirely sure about this one but miami has solid pieces

Rams +5...

Broncos/Gmen Over 54.5.... i dont care that 80%+ are on the over... i dont think the number can be made high enough. Two very good offenses through the air against two less than stellar secondaries.. i don't know how the giants plan on stopping all these weapons that peyton has... and eli is gonna answer, over is the safest bet for me

Doug Martin Yards Over

Jags +5, who the hell is oakland to be laying pts to anyone? I know the jags qb situation is horrid... but mjd can still do damage, hopefully

Alright if you took the other side on spreads/totals where 80%> were on one side then you went 3-0 last week.

By this criteria this week you play Cleveland+6, Washington/GB under, Chicago/Minnesota under, Detroit/Arizona under, Denver NYG under.

EDIT:Tampa Bay +3, NO/TB under 47 also fit the criteria.

This is just one tool. If you want to blindly use that strategy you'll most likely be up at the end of the season pretty nicely. I just can't go against the ravens.

But I won't be betting on the ravens.

I don't know what you expect them to make the total in the manning bowl. It can't be much higher

Agreed I'm not going to play the manning bowl under. If it were lower then sure.

The reticence to bet Cleveland and fade Baltimore is totally understandable. I figure there is a reason Baltimore isn't favored by 9.5 to 11. The line is about as low as they could make it.

I don't know. I suppose that's true. But the ravens were close to DD in Denver and played like absolute shit... Expectedly. I don't know much about the browns

Gonna go another route on Philly.

Eagles 1H TT over 16 -115...

Waiting on the rest. Hoping Miami somehow goes to 3 otherwise I might be buying the hook at -135 :(

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there's "some real tension" and a "growing disconnect" between Bucs coach Greg Schiano and Josh Freeman.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora adds that Freeman is expected to request a trade prior to October's trade deadline. Per Rapoport, Freeman's frustration comes from Schiano revealing to the media that Freeman was late to a team meeting and has "been late for things before." Dating back to 2012, Freeman has completed barely over 50 percent of his passes with a 3:10 TD:INT ratio over his last four games. Freeman is barely on the fantasy radar. It wouldn't be a shock if third-round rookie Mike Glennon made year-one starts.

Final card for the early games

Eagles 1H TT o16 -115
Dolphins ML +120
KC -3 -105
Rams +5.5 -110

Bol and enjoy :)

Looking like an 0-5 start to the day. Just fabulous.

Took Doug Martin over 90.5 yards rushing -115 and the over 52.5 in the manning bowl
