Add Umps if you like, I'll copy & paste the usual or if i'm really bored I'll go through the games and post em later tonight.

Holy Hell - We have a Sidney Ponson siting in Texas. What is this new line going to be? Scott Baker and the Twins for me please!

I'm liking

Braves, Astros, Diamondback, Tigers and Yankees Over 10.5 in the early games

Really like the Mets tmrw and probably the over.

Reason being everything I see tells me to fade Hudson. His last 2 outings have been subpar granted he said the flu drained him in the 1st outing where he was throwing like 85 MPH. Supposedly he was back to the low 90s last time out but he was so lucky to get out of so many jams. Nats worst offense in the league but they have seen him 3 times already had 10 hits , 2bbs in 6.2 innings.

Hudson in 06 5.38 away ERA and 5.33 in day starts while LHP hit 281.
5 days rest 4.82 ERA and 278BAA compared to 4.63 and 264 BAA with extended rest..

In 07 he was actaully better on the road. While the ERA doesnt reflect it batters hit 291 in day games v him compared to 252 at night ...

Huge difference in rest...

Basically I dont expect Hudson to be sharp.

On the flip we have John Maine who so much reminds me off a younger Tim Hudson. See the 1st meeting after a wonderful spring Maine's 1st start of the year was rained out and pushed back a day. Posssible disrupting his sync. Hudson who he opposed had already started the Sunday game @ Wash so he was ahead of the game so to speak having a start under his belt . Since then Maine has allowed just 5 runs in 18.2 innings. Maine doesnt have a consistent track record to go on but I feel he is the same pitcher he was in the 1st H of 2007 and his numbers were great 2.71 ERA 1.14 WHIP .214 BAA. He had some struggles then recovered to finish strong. Last year his first full season as a SP in the majors he simply could have hit the wall as he entered Aug with a 2.92 era...

No Braves really has pounded him granted Chipper went 3 for 4 the 1st meeting this year.....

Mets have now lost 5 of 6 this week and this becomes a big game for them since Figueroa opposes Smoltz on Sunday. If they dont get this one its gonna be tough to avoid a sweep...

Remember statisically the Mets have huge egde out fo the pens...1.82 ERA vs 4.73 before tonight....

After alot of mis opportunities I think we could see a strong bias to the under which since Maine doesnt have as sharp day splits and Hudson could be in for a long afternoon would lead me to believe there is more value in the over especially if we seee 8s....

Braves still just 4-7 away on the season..Nolasco , Pelfrey , Chico and Lannan are the guys they beat not exactly high quality ...Kotsay also questionable....

Curious to see how the line moves but like NYM alot right now...

Hard to pass up on an under in STL after they sat around all night and started around 10 PM and then have to play a 1 PM game....not to mention Oswalt and Wainright really good SP and have great track records vs there opponents...

Probably fade Moseley again....Tigers pissed away alot of chances at winning...woul like to see Guillen play for balance though......

“It’s one of those early season challenges for us. We’re facing some adversity,” said Wright, hitless in his last 18 at-bats. “This is where the better teams prevail and the better teams find a way to win. We need to challenge ourselves and find a way to win tomorrow.”
Notes
Atlanta SS Yunel Escobar shattered the fingernail of his right index finger when he was hit by a sinker when sacrificing in the first inning. X-rays were negative but he probably will be sidelined until at least Tuesday.

ATL could be out 2 starters but Blanco is like 11 for his last 21...also Delgado got a day off to clear his head...PH late and whiffed I believe

The Cardinals missed a chance for more in the second, loading the bases on two hits and a walk before Glaus struck out again. Glaus left the game after the at-bat, complaining of watery eyes and blurred vision.
Glaus said the problem only occurs during night games at home and believes the problem is allergies. St. Louis is well-known for its high mold content.
“We’re trying to get them under control,” Glaus said. “I’ve never had allergies before in my life, so I’m not sure what to do about them.”

something to slot away

I think the Mets will lose again today. Those guys just don't handle pressure well, and the Braves get up for New York like they do for no other opponent.

Well had the Mets games down pretty tight. Passed on the over because it was real windy here in NYC and I didnt have tim eto sit around and wait for the game to start. Said Hudson would be less then stellar and he was while Maine was again solid...Tigers up 6-4 to start the 9th as well...passed on the Cards total because it was 7.5 when I woke up...

Anyway at 7 PM...probably playing Milw but really like this over.

We have two SP who do not pitch well with MOB. Well you basically have one of the better offenses right now vs RHP in Florida against one of the better offenses vs LHP in MILW. Which the Brewers are now facing there 4th straight LH SP. Since Hamels they have struggled the past 2 games offensively but the stranded alot of guys yesterday and 5 walks to no Ks always indicate some good fortune when you dont allow a run...

Anyway look at the splits first...

Trends seem to back this up as well...
Fla 5-0 Over and 9-2-2 over last 5 & 11 games after allowing 2 or less runs..
Fla 8-3 Over L 11 away vs RHP
38-15-2 Over in Game 2 of series Fla
15-6 Over after a Win
19-8 Over Saturdays

Milw 14-6 L 20 over home vs LHP and 39-17 -1 L57 over at home vs LHP

ML trends Milw 22-6 :28 at home laying 151 to 200
48-21 at home vs LHP
37-18 in game 2 of series

Marlins 135-432 vs RHP 24Hrs 71 Rbi starting lineup

Brewers 61 -197 vs LHP 11hrs 34 RBI

Hendrickson success has been mostly vs Pitt and Wash two struggling offenses and due mainly in his ability to get LHB out..156 vs LHB and 282 vs RHB which the only LH is Fiedler and despite his slow start he still is now ordinary lefty...

Villanueva is better at home but really both are converted relievers..Carlois is 341 vs RHB so far and 229 vs LH....granted I do no expect thatto keep up. It simply shows he is struggling vs RH and the Marlins are crushing RHs a bade recipe...

So over 9.5 -125 for a few units 2-3...plus Fla pen tends to struggle more vs RHs and Milw is struggling and overworked...again looking Milw -1.5 and possible ML..

BOL:cheers:

Also gonna to have some faith and play the Under 10 in Pittsburgh.

The only team Morris has had any success against lately seems to be Philly as he has been borderline exceptional past 3 times he faced them including twice last year. Kendrick I look at his starts and see he was screwed by bad defense @ Shea , faced some tough lineups @ Colorado and @ Cincy while he didnt pitch well he wasnt beaten up that badly. Both teams have solid pens looking at Phillys road stats and Pirates at home...looking for a close game decided late 5-4 type..

Philly 264 vs RHP , 257 away 251 at nite
Pitt 234 vs RHP , 235 home , 233 at nite

yesterday 11 runs on just 18 hits so thinking that was somewhat lucky to go over...

Right now Matt Morris just isnt a ML pitcher and while he was in decline since he came to Pitt he has made Mike Mussina look like Bob Gibson...

Anyway going with another unconventional under in SFG...Belisle got smoked last game mostly due to his inability to get any LHB out and here not as many to worry about. Belisle said he just felt they hit good pitches and he was doing really well in his rehab stint prior to that. I expect a bounce back effort. I look at Cincy and they struggle on offense when they play at SF . in 06 at SF 3 games only 2 runs total scored. They scored 17 in a 4 game set last year but they had 9 in an extra inning game otherwise 4,4,2. The xtra affair was 3-1 after 5 then the pens sem to blow it up. The SF SP were Cain , Correia , Blackley and Misch in teh xtra inning game. So it wasnt even there top end guys really. Last 10 games SF scored more then just twice and 8 spot and 4 spot..in cincys past 10 they actually scored more then 3 just 3 times and twice were vs LHP suprisingly and the other was a 4 spot...

So struggling offenses..both pens with solid splits so far and fairly well rested outside of Wilson the SFG closer..Under 12-4-1 l17 meetings as well...also like SFG..

At 1st look LAD seems easy play but I question thier efficiency w/o Garciaparra, Abreu, Laroche, and now Jones who is day to day. I know they don't score alots this season so far and penny is 12-2 vs Col which makes him a havy fav. He's picthed to SD twicxe this year and got rocked both times. He only pitched well to teams like Cinn, Pitt and SF. Nothing special at all. LAD is only 2-3 vs Lefty's. To me I see value with colorodo at + 167.

Well I have been terrible inconsistent due mainly to plying to many games. Trying to find the edge in every game is impossible when you have time constraints. Seems whatever Iposts backfires and what I dont post tends to do well...easiet play I ever hit was 1st 5 inning over @ LAD and Over LAD game 9 ...as it was 10-2 after 1 inning...naturally didnt make up for the other crap I had at night and pissed another good start away...

Sorry I want around TB but I was abit aggravated at myself again...

Anyway for Sunday ...

Interested in the game @ Pittsburgh.

Philly ends a hectic week that started with the Sunday nighter vs NY then travled to COl , Milw and Pitt with Monday off I think they might rest some players. Then again they dont have much depth and just gave Howard 2 days off. Pitt hasnt played that badly at home and is trying to avoid the sweep before heading on a trip starting @ Shea. One would think they emphasize getting a WIN before traveling since they got there asses handed to them last trip. Ya know the one were they were outscored 48-12 over 5 games after stealing the 1st game in LAD.

Bottomline is Maholm started turning his season around in June of last year . His past 10 starts at home Pitt is 8-2 and 6-4 under losing 1 game by a run as well. In those 10 starts Pitts staff allowed 3 runs or less in 7 and 4 runs or less in 8. Outside of the game he left this year due the rain delay he went at least 6 innings every time and mostly 7 innnings. The last 8 starts at home in 2007 he went 56.2 Inn 54 H 22 R 21 ER 17 BB 36 K 4 Hrs on top of the 11.1 Inn 10 H 1 R/ ER 3BB 8 K in 2008 so far.

10 starts 68inn 64 H 23 R 22 ER 20 BB 44 Ks 4Hrs allowed 2.91 ERA 1.24 WHIP

Now his worst strat in this 10 game stretch happened to be vs Philly . It was one where struggled early allowing 2 big Hrs and after 2 innings had allowed 6 runs but settled down to shutout Philly over the next 5 innings. So not weighing that negatively since he did some good things.

This series both Pens have lived up to the early season reputations as Philly's has produced a real solid road ERA and Pitts has been fantastic at home. SO far in 2 games 17.2 Inn just 4 runs and 3 earned. Clearly SP has sucked in this series.

Myers back in the rotation has now thrown 100+ pitches 3 straight games and I wonder if that has any effect. His track record is sound vs Pitt as he lost both starts there 2-1 and 3-1. Granted they were from 06 and 05 but Pirates arent hitting much so doubt they could have fielded a worse lineup. Career wise 9 runs in 34 innings and 5 in 12 away. Pirates are hitting below 240 vs RHP and Philly just below 250 vs LHP.

The total The way I see it is I doubt we see that 9.5 tmrw but Morris vs Kendrick was 10 and this SP matchup is significantly better and it took sloppy play in consecutive ganes to see DD runs even today there was just 17,18 hits which isnt that many when you see 12 runs..Hallion behind the plate cant hurt . Like I said the other day dont go cray looking at ums but hey if you think you have a fat number and you see an UMP who in 6 games has 5 unders and 3 shutouts it cant be a bad thing. The only over for him was his last game when Arroyo allowed 7 in 1 inning still just a 9-3 game. He has had some solid SP but they guys are just as good if not better then most of those.

Myers like most hard throwers seems to enjoy pitching in day games. Malhoms splits arent very solid but I doubt many of those starts were at home. Funny that Mayers @ Coors vs Franics the total was only 9 this week...

So want to see the lineups but with good pens and good SP Ilike the Under here as well as Pitt to avoid the Sweep....Philly lineup 47-205 vs LH but alot of Hrs with 13 but as I said Malhom allowed only 4 last 10 at home although 2 were to Philly..Maholm just 8 runs of support in 4 starts thinking Pitt wins 4-3

Also at Shea probably like the over for the exact reasons I like the under here. Lower scoring series @ Shea keeps the number lower. I think Smoltz faced Santana at home and saw an 8.5 total while Figuerora was getting 9,9.5 versus Wash and Milw much weaker offensive teams. Figuerora labored through 5 @ Wrigley 7 hits and 5 walks. Think Chi left like 33 MOB on that game...both pens a bit taxed of late ..Hudson went 3 and Maine left after 5 innings...want to see if Chipper starts but if its get to 8 have to look at that hard want to see the weather as well....also Smoltz 1st start he lasted 100 pitches as well but really more interested in the fact he has faced weak lineups. Mets hit the ball alot better today and ATL made some real good defensive plays to keep the game close. Wright got a hit finally and I think Delgado hit one deep that got held up by the wind. So positive signs there and Smoltz was always solid @ Shea seems to always allow about 3 runs...I expect Figuerora to get hit and he did allow 2 runs in a earlier outing vs ATL earlier.. same total as Hudson vs Maine...?? to big then IMO..

At the Jake...tough since neither SP has a good track record vs opponent and Wang looked shaky vs WSox but battled ...Yanks dont hit much vs LHP on the road and that trend continues so far going 3-0 Under so far. Sabathis supposedly looked like the CC of old last start. Yanks have a ton of LH hitters and with Jeters offensive decline at least IMO it falls heavily on ARods streaky shoulders vs LHs. So far 136 abs vs LHP and just 6 extra base hits ...2 of each.. Huge issues since wlost Sheff and even Bernie Williams with Damon and Abreu replacing them . There was a stretch really till late in the year probably when Duncan arrived when NYY just dodnt score vs LHP away..think at one point NYY was 2-14 SU away vs LHP and then won its last 3 in Sept...8-5-2 Under in the 1st 15...8,4,0,1,3,2,7,1,2,0,4,10,5 is what they scored in those games started by LHP..so basically thinking about an under depending on Joba's status...Cle doesnt have many LH to worry about and if Wang is solid he is tough on RHB...

Possible interested in Boston but need to catch up on Beckett ...also Texas and STL look intersting.....

off to sleep..
