New Orleans Pelicans 2013-2014

rumors are

Pelicans are in discussions with the Mavs to acquire the 13th pick + Shawn Marion and send a future pick in return. The Mavs are apparently trying to make a run at Dwight Howard or Chris Paul.

Pelicans also going to make a run at Chris Copeland

yea, Id hope to keep him. what do we do with the number 1 pick? Nerlens? pass..Burke? no that high

I say stay pat, have a shit year....next year is LOADED

i dont get pierre jackson unless we mean to move brian roberts to SG?

itll be interesting to see how we get minutes for all the guards

The Times-Picayune suggests Greivis Vasquez could play some small forward in 2013-14.

The Pelicans have an absolute logjam at point guard following Thursday night's stunning trade. Jrue Holiday, Vasquez, Brian Roberts, Austin Rivers and Pierre Jackson are all on the roster and used to playing with the ball in their hands. Vasquez has reasonable small forward height at 6-foot-6, but he's really a playmaker at heart. He doesn't have the strength to guard the league's more aggressive wings. It's hard to see him sustaining consistent minutes this season unless the Pelicans have more trades up their sleeve.

I think Benson's antsiness brough this team's ceiling down significantly on Thursday night. Jrue is a good player on a good deal, but now they've ensured that they're not acquiring the additional young A+ talent they needed to actually set up a championship roster for years to come. Also, dealing a top 5 protected pick in a draft as loaded as next year's, when you are probably going to be picking somewhere between 6 and 13, it's all very foolish to me.

They still have the pieces of a potential 2nd round team for years to come, but I think they limited their potential. Getting Jrue now isn't even CLOSE to worth it when you consider who they could've gotten by being patient and just drafting wisely. Unfortunate when you consider how good a job Demps had done up until this point.

I think you guys either don't understand or are just not valuing next year's draft appropriately. There is a first ballot hall of famer and at least a few additional all stars in that draft, a few of whom can materialize into All NBA talents. Not a draft you want to be giving away picks in, there's a reason the Pelicans were the ONE AND ONLY team who gave away 2014 lottery picks on Thursday night.

ideally I think ben mclemore was the pick there.

keeping noel wouldve allowed us to tank though. i think he has bust written all over him.

either way, demps usually isnt wrong. i pretty much just blindly follow/trust his decisions and montys ability to get the most of players except that POS Gordon.

raems everyone knows next year is gold

what were they to do though? I like the move

Sends a message to the fans

i dont care if we take a discount on him.

hes baron davis 2.0. gonna magically be healthy the second he is gone.

A first ballot HOFer who hasn't even played in college yet. Let's temper the enthusiasm just a bit. The list of "can't miss" prospects that haven't panned out to anything has seemingly grown exponentially in the past 10 years or so. I know the draft is stacked, but really with a 1st ballot HOFer on a 17 yr old kid? Do you work for ESPN by chance? lol

Lol lareux is there anything u don't know?
Scrub ass message board hero.

i just saw a couple rumors. dont know if there is any credit to them at all

reportedly we are after Iggy, Tyreke, or Kevin Martin.

to hell with tyreke. that doesnt eem like the type of guy the pelicans would go after.
of course we are apparently meeting with him tomorrow @ noon so there ya go.

lol right i know we need to get something for him.

Chase Budinger apparently on the radar, but it seems quite a few teams are interested. That seems more like a Dell Demps move.

First glance I.thought u guys raped Philly now after I think the Philly GM won.. best make playoffs kids. I'm sure Eric Gordon will be injured to not let that happen. Thanks for the lottery pick

Philly fans get a maybe

we get a definite

top 5 protected..what is Philly gonna do? Not field a team and draft both twins haha

maybe Benson is thinking "Screw the luxury tax, I'll use my profits from my NFL team to make my NBA team good"

looking like Grevais wil be traded in order to acquire a bigger name. his value will never be higher, especially for a team looking for a PG.

I hope we dont have to give up any more future 1st rounders to fill a hole now.

I guess were serious about Tyreke and he's considering

Tyreke Evans could agree to an offer sheet with the Pelicans as soon as Monday evening, with the deal believed to be worth $44 million over four years.

Bear in mind that Evans is scheduled to meet with the Pistons and Kings on Monday, the Kings have the right to match any offer for their restricted FA, and nothing can be signed until July 10. We'll let you know if subsequent reports confirm Evans' willingness to accept an offer sheet from the Pelicans.

4:45 p.m. ET
USA Today Sports: “The New Orleans Pelicans made a lucrative, four-year offer to Tyreke Evans in last night’s meeting. … I’ve been told 4 years, approx $48 million on Evans’ offer. @daldridgetnt has it at $44 million. Either way, doubt Kings would match either.”

i heard he wouldnt consider it at all if he was playing the 3 so somethings gotta give. all speculation at this point.

The Sacramento Bee does not expect the Kings to match the four-year, $44 million deal the Pelicans have offered restricted free agent Tyreke Evans.

Evans isn't done traveling the free agent circuit yet, but the Kings appear prepared to let him move on. They've been linked to unrestricted free agent Andre Iguodala, who would fill more of the classic small forward hole they have. Evans, meanwhile, has already met with the Pistons, Pelicans, Kings and Hawks. He'll meet with more teams, but we doubt he'll find a better deal than the one New Orleans has offered.

well. things should get interesting here.

I don't get it. I think that Evans is a terrible player and I can understand that even less with Gordon already on board.
Gordon, Evans, Vasquez, Jrue for three positions only (and Evans is not a SF btw and so is Vasquez).
On top of that, they got Rivers that should still be some factor and get minutes.

I realize that NO need an upgrade in SF position, but why on earth Evans?

Maybe Pelicans can trade EG to Suns...where he wanted to play last season?

I like Tyreke...lot of talent, but certainly a headcase. Jrue and him would make for a nice back court and Tyreke has to be a prime candidate to benefit from a change of scenery.

EG is very underrated...when healthy. How much will the summer off help him being able to play? I certainly understand the frustration with last year, he caused a lot of discension, but he was hurt, couldn't play b2b...almost feels like they rushed him back. His value has to be low though because he seems to always be injured. What about trading him to Suns where he wanted to play last year?
