basically the thread title is self explanatory. this is pretty much a thread for everyone to put in their thoughts on the nfl upcoming season in one place.

If Vick tanks this year, will Petrino go after Brian Brohm with a trade up or someother type of action to get his guy his scouted from college.
 
Basically took today off from the association to go back and put in some time to begin researching last year’s nfl numbers. I went back and looked for trends that teams fell into. I only included those teams that will be returning the same head coach (as teams take on the identity of their head coach). So I had to throw out all of those Bill Cowher/Pittsburgh Steelers trends. It was painful but it had to be done. Teams that will be lead by a rookie coach next year and, therefore, not researched were: Miami, Pittsburgh, san diego, and oakland in the Afc and dallas, Atlanta, and Arizona in the NFC.

Im well aware its just the middle of april and the NFl draft is yet to take place but I thought I get to reading up on last years numbers.

Great thread!

Actually played my first full NFL season last year. It was profitable but my Bears was short in the Superbowl.

Looking forward to this season. May it be more profitable than the last.

I'd lay fat odds that no Matt Millen run team will EVER win a title... I don't care of Bill Polian GIVES him Peyton Manning... It's not going to happen.
 
i don't know about the falcons b/c vick just throws the ball too damn hard and the recievers hands just aren't good enough for the velocity that he throws.

The guy is as dumb as rocks and can't even post average passing statistics. He had 3 first round draft picks at WR, a pro bowl tight end, a pro bowl running back, and the #1 rushing attack and he still couldn't post average passing stats.

The guy is a fraud. It's only a matter of time before he gets locked up for good

I knew this was coming in sooner or later.. and my money was on 'sooner'.. lol...

but regardless, I must say I do agree 100%....

as sad as it is to say, even with his running ability, he is still almost worthless to even fantasy leagues... so I won't bother getting into details what value he is to the real league...

he is definitely hype... but that's mostly it....

everyone always talks about how he runs for half as much yardage as he passes... but that's more because he sucks at passing...


he is not a good enough runner to be an NFL starting running back... and if he would not run like he does, then his passing ability alone would not be enough to secure him an NFL starting quarterback job either....

It's like no one really knows what the fuck to do with him....

Instead of him adjusting to the team needs and abilities, they want the entire team to play around his playing style...

how the fuck does a talented receiver play to the style of a quarterback who runs alot and can't pass for shit...

if you want a team to adjust to a quarterbacks' playing style, then give me a name like Favre or Brady... those guys can make a team adjust to their style...

the funny thing is, if Vick has one (and I do stress ONE) good passing game, everyone seems to think he has proven his point about being able to be a passing quarterback... they need to look at his passer rating for the year... when it includes his games against defenses like Baltimore and Pittsburgh... not just on one game against a crap defense... just way over fucking rated.
 
Before this thread turns into another ignorable Vick sucks vs. Vick's OK thread, let me add something.

Both the Raiders and the Panthers will be switching to a zone blocking scheme this year in the hopes of improving both their line play and their running game.

2 seasons ago we had both superbowl contendents Pats and Eagles
last season we had Steelers and Seahawks

This season Colts and Bears.

Brady will have someone to throw to in Donte Stallworth and Adalius Thomas is going to improve a already solid defense. The Pats were one 1st down away from going to and winning the S.B. in 07 and have improved greatly in the off season.:cheers:
 
i agree chancedog, pats have to be the odds on favorites to win it all this year, i know they are in my book. If they can get a saftey and LB in the first round they will be the team to beat this year.

this was my list for who is the most physical smash mouth football team at the line of scrimmage from last year. these rankings deal only with the running games of a certain teams rb/fb and their defenses at stopping the overall run.

couple things ... giants should fall, balt improve at running it a tad but their OL is still stuff i throw into a trash bin, zona is changing the scheme on the defensive side of the ball and got a new OL coach so they should get out of the cellar, jets improve with Thomas Jones, and everybody else stay about the same.
