NBA Week 1

lifesallover

Pretty much a regular
YTD (0-0)
Washington Wizards @ Indiana Pacers Over 204 (1 Unit)
Washington Wizards @ Indiana Pacers 1Q Over 50 (.5 Unit)

Neither of these teams play defense, Pacers have a new uptempo system (like everyone else in the league), and they have played well in it (for whatever the preseason is worth), they may be w/o O'Neal, and Murphy is definitely out, that hurts their scoring, but less time spent in half court sets with no real inside options. Also will open up the paint for Washington. Both teams will be playing hot potato with the ball tonight. Only way this game doesn't hit is if the teams all inlove with the outside shot.

Seattle Sonics @ Denver Nuggets Over 217 (.5 Unit) edit:hedge down to half unit
The Nuggets should score 120 in this game alone. Seattle plays zero defense, and Nuggets not much more then them. Should be a track meet, wish Durant hadn't hurt his ankle, but he's ready. It's already been talked about up and down this forum, so I won't waste much more on it.

Dallas Mavericks @ Cleveland Cavaliers Under 187 (.5 Unit)
Both teams will play ugly. Cleveland knows they have to slow things down to stay in this game. Dallas can play either style, and without Howard, they lose one of their versatile scorers. I see slow game tonight, Both teams should stay in 80's.

Chicago Bulls @ New Jersey Nets -2.5 (1 Unit)
Bulls frontcourt is disimated by injuries right now. Nets will have a massive advantage in this one downlow and own the painted area. Backcourts are very similar, and pretty even, give me Kristic/Magloire/Boone down low.

Goodluck tonight everyone.

Wow, never thought I'd say this in a game, but the only two players being aggressive are Mike Dunleavy and Brendan Haywood. 1Q over is looking shot, I said this would hit if they don't settle for jumpers, and everyyyyyyone is shooting jumpers. Not a good start.

Miracle cover with about 14 points in the last 1:30 of play. Should've been an easy cover is Wizards go better then 8-25, but I'll take it. 1-0 to start the season.

BTW - Wizards looked GASSED in the end of the 1st quarter. Pacers have a nice bench, good depth, and are in great shape. May be making a play on Pacers in the 2H.

Over in the Wizards game looks lost at this point, what a brutal 2nd quarter. Both teams look tired, sloppy play, poor shot selection. Wizards are supposed to be an uptempo team, and they look sluggish out their. makes me respect what the suns do all that much more. A lot of teams are trying to run and gun this year, and I think they are gonna realize it's not as easy as Phoenix makes it look.

2-0 So Far. Wizards over was a near moose, can't believe how poor a free throw shooting team those clowns are, unbelieveable how many they missed down the stretch. But a win is a win. 4th quarter is gonna be close in this Mavs/Cavs game. Nets/Bulls is too close to call too. Could be 4-0 as easy as I could be 2-2.

4-0, with Seattle/Denver over to go. A couple of nail biters in there too, Nets game and Wizards had had me cussing loud enough I think I might have scared a few trick or treaters away.

Only one play so far for today

Detroit Pistons -4.5 @ Miami Heat (1 Unit)

This play has already been talked to death and it's not even the day of the game. The stats have been stated, the cases have been made, and mine are no different. Pistons are a better team in every aspect outside of Shaq. Do they have answer for him? Will it even matter? He will own the paint for however long he is in, there's no chance in hell he's in game shape right now. I can't see more than 30 minutes from him, maybe 35 at most. On offense Pistons bigs should stretch the court and make him come outside, opening up the lane for the guards. Detroits bench is one of the best in the league, though they are a little banged up. Prince should take responsibility of blanketing the only other threat Miami has in Ricky Davis. I just can't see how the Pistons don't win this game by 10.

That's it for now, 2 Units is my max wager right now, atleast until my bankroll gets up. I do like the Suns, as everyone else should, Sonics should not be backed right now, not by anyone who has worked for their money. Suns should absolutely run these kids out of the gym, period. I may make a late play depending on what the Pistons do, assuming the line is right. I could talk myself into playing this game up to -15, Steve Nash must be sleeping well right about now, the league couldn't have gift wrapped a better season opener for him and the boys.

EDIT: Hedged down from 2 Units to 1(Miami +5.5), the loss of Rip is big, to many factors to make me confident in a large wager, espacially this early. Goodluck all.

A lot of leans, but only two plays tonight, for now.

Portland Trailblazers +8 @ New Orleans Hornets (2 Units)
Portland Trailblazers +2.5 @ New Orleans Hornets 1Q (.5 Unit)

8 is a lot of points to be laying for a team absolutely no bench productivity. NO has a great starting lineup, one of the best in the league, IMO. But their bench play is bad, is this Hornets team really good enough to be laying 8 points to a scrappy team? Yeah they covered 9 against the Kings, w/o Artest or Bibby, and ingeneral a team that is incomplete disarray. Both teams starting lineups are eerily similar. Chandler and Pryzbilla are similar players, both very quitely anchor the paint, and don't have plays run through them. Pryzbilla has quietly been forgotten about because a terrible year last year. But this a guy who is good for 10 rebounds and a couple blocks a game and solid weak side defense. Lamarcus Aldridge vs. David West is going to be a really fun match, and again, both players are very similar, both posses solid outside jumpers for PF's, I think Aldridge is has the edge when it comes to interior offense, and West gives up a couple inches and height and a few more in wingspan, and Aldridge should be able to exploit that length downlow tonight. At SF Peja and Martell Webster are carbon copies. Peja obviously a more seasoned veteran, but both love to sit out on the outside and shoot the three ball, and aren't that great creating for themselves. Webster is the XFactor, he needs to have a good game tonight and keep the defense honest by spreading the floor. A repeat of the opener is unlikely, but the Blazers will need him to be on. At SG Brandon Roy and Mo Pete face off, Peterson is an underrated defender, and he knows his role for the team is try and lock down on defense. Roy is coming off his worst performance as a professional, and will be eager to bounce back. And I think he will, Bowen locked down Roy, Peterson won't be able to. Expect Roy to have a good game tonight, he should be able to get past Peterson when he wants to, he is decipetively quick with the ball, and can penetrate at will against anyone not named Bowen. Paul vs. Jack is a miss match, Jack is still not a strong defender, and may find himself not playing much tonight if Paul has a game like he did against the Kings. I think we'll see a lot more Steve Blake tonight, and very little of Jack. Blake is pesky, and is a smart player, not the most gifted, very few teams will match up with Paul, Blazers are no exception. They major disaparity between the two is the depth.

After the Hornets starting rotation, they significantly drop off, whereas Portland will throw Outlaw/Frye/Blake/Jones into the 2nd unit. Hornets depth could be their downfall, and Coach Scott addressed the issue yesterday, saying he was disappointed with his bench play. The question is can they do anything about it, Jackson is not the player he once was, Butler can provide a spark, but is feast or famine.

If the Blazers try to go to a zone defense, it will be their downfall. They simply are not productive in it, giving up numerous easy buckets to the Spurs (granted their offense is very smooth, and didn't miss a beat opening night), but if they go to Zone, expect Paul to exploit it with penetration and finding Peja and Mo Pete outside.

I truly think Blazers can win this one straight up, however, I am not a ballsy enough gambler to play MLs. This Blazers team is a scrappy bunch who will scratch and crawl their through every game, -8 points for a team w/o an bench productivity, is hard to cover against a team like the Blazers.

That's it for now, goodluck tonight everyone, lets make some $$

Adding Golden State +2.5 @ LA Clippers.

Blazers game was a trainwreck. 1st quarter sealed their fate, NO shoots about 67%, nobody could miss, and Portland hung their heads. NO couldn't miss, I'd still take the +8, if the rim wasn't the size of the the Gulf Coast in that first quarter, this game is different. I don't care what this final box score says. And I'll be going large next week on Portland when they face NO in their home opener. NO's starters are solid, they are everything I thought they were, still think they need to address their bench before the deadline if they won't be serious come playoff time.

Congrats NO backers:bow:

As for the Golden State game.. alcohol.. anger.. and philly and bar said so. If it loses, I appologize to the both of you for bringing my smelly ass on the play.:tiphat:
