NBA ML Dogs 2/24

Pretty much a regular
Pistons +133.28

still filling it up. I'll edit the number when I get finalized.

I'm still on the Phade Foenix wagon. I watched that Celtics game, and the Cs just couldn't hit shit with open jumpers...nor could they hit many layups. It was bizarre.

I don't believe for an instant the Suns will get that lucky again. Some trends to consider...

Detroit is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games
Detroit is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing Phoenix
Detroit is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games when playing on the road against Phoenix
Pistons are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games playing on 1 days rest.
Pistons are 18-8-1 ATS in their last 27 games as a road underdog.

Suns are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite.
Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite of 0.5-4.5.
Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win.
Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest.

Road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Pistons are 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Phoenix.
Pistons are 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

anyway, I wish for 2:1 on this, but I think having 30 cents over even is just fine.

GL today gentlemen...

before this game, Bill Walton made an absolute ass of himself [again] with the comment about how great the Suns defense has become. Now, okay, if you didn't watch their last game (but saw the score), and you completely ignore the 130 they gave up to the Lakers, I can see where one might get that idea.

But as a professional NBA analyst, that's got to be the height of jackassery. Here's the suns defense during February:

02/04/2008 vs Charlotte W 118 - 104 P (-14) O (219½)
02/06/2008 vs New Orleans L 132 - 130 L (-5) O (213½)
02/08/2008 vs Seattle W 103 - 99 L (-11½) U (217)
02/10/2008 vs Washington W 108 - 107 L (-11) O (210)
02/13/2008 at Golden State L 120 - 118 W (3) O (234½)
02/14/2008 vs Dallas W 109 - 97 W (-7½) O (203½)
02/20/2008 vs LA Lakers L 130 - 124 L (-2½) O (224)
02/22/2008 vs Boston W 85 - 77 W (-1) U (216½)

That's an average of 108.25

.....obviously today's going to make that worse.

I'm not saying the Suns are a lousy team, but they are certainly a lousy defensive team.

But since Shaq started playing, their defense has been worse. Much worse. Yes, they got a few blocks. Yet their style is going to be: allow wide-open jumpers and hope they miss (Celtics on the 22nd).

I want to see the next Wizards/Suns game. Or the Nuggets/Suns game. Teams that have quality outside shooting are going to shred this bunch. Hell, an opportunistic team like philly would absolutely crush the Suns right now.

Hey Bill Walton, have you enjoyed the great defensive effort today? That was 90pts in 3 quarters they allowed.

What the fuck happened to this guy? Shouldn't he know a little something about defense in the NBA...?

this is, btw, my favorite sort of game. approaching a 40pt lead in the 3rd Q, and I have the ML dog UP.

it was real nice of the pistons to dick around, not run an offense, and still manage 24 fucking points on this shit-ass defense in the 4th Q.

Thanks Red, I forgot all about the 2:30 start messing around with NCAA. Jumped in w/o capping and just tailed ya.
