I'd have to say it has something to do with Boston's 3 straight road wins and denver losing 3 of their last 5 games. I should get bet up though.

why is the nugget line so low?

They just lost by 30 and were down at half to Atl...do you think there is more then a 5 pt difference bewteen Boston & Washington...Wiz were -3 and won by 30 ...Boston being +2 say that basically Celts are 5 pts worse....food for thought and yes I like Boston...dont think they should be dogged.....

One suggestion ReNew...good work with the Discussion Threads ...have only you and Killa start them though so we dont have a cluttered forum. Also maybe have an OVERNITE Discussion thread which becomes dead (have the Mods lock it from being posted on) in the morning and then start a Gameday Discussion thread.....try to also ASK people to only make useful comments not wish GL and things of that nature....

You're so anti-Covers. haha. I agree. These threads can be awesome and all of your suggestions I agree with 100%.

That sounds good, I'll just PM Killa what you said since he usually wants to do this.

Is anyone else tempted by the -14.5 Dallas line or is that just me?
Also New York and Indiana UNDER 194.5? anyone have any thoughts on that. Now that Eddy Curry is the go to guy on NY they have been scoring much less and Indiana had their big game against Detriot, I dont expect them to be up for this like they were against Detriot. Perhaps +6.

JPicks ~

Think its more being anti-useless then anything else...I think many us of dont want to see the "Covers" mentality work its way over here(and its getting that feel past few days). Some of the newbies here dont realize I was at that place along time before them and saw it turn by slowly watching things disintergrate(Spelling??)...Its starts with useless posting and then turns into look at me...and so on...With more people here we need stricter guidelines to keep the flow the same.....

To keep this from being a useless post.......OVER 230 in Phoenix.......these are the 2 that can make it happen....However I will be more then happy to grab 10 points with the Warriors.....

renew ~

...good usage of the private Message function....all member should make better use of it.....instead of useless threads thanking people for agood nite...just PM them with a simple Thank You.....

I also like the points with the Warriors. Phoenix has NO problem giving up leads late in a game if it comes down to it. Also J-Rich and Diogu played a little 2 on 2 yesterday during practice and could potentially play. I'm pretty sure they're out tonight though. Your thoughts on the total are probably correct as well. It's almost a gurantee one of these teams will get to 120 and I wouldn't be shocked if to see a repeat of the Warriors/Nuggets game recently (140-129)/

nuggets -2 and warriors +10 jump out at me first time seeing this board

Nut- Great minds think alike. I know the owners are thrilled about the huge traffic here these last few days, and I'm happy the site has exploded. But it's come at the expense of the controlled discussion and environment we had here a week or so ago. I really hope it doesn't turn into a Covers Part 2. I know they won't tolerate the bashing and shit, but it's not all about the bashing. It's about useless threads and posts in general.

So here's how we'll at the least preserve the quality of our nightly discussion threads. I'll make one thread daily, at 3PM when the lines are released. It will be called Overnight Discussion Thread. I'll request for no useless posts in that thread. Then in the morning, I'll make a Gameday Discussion Thread. Also with that one I'll request no useless posts. We'll see how it goes.

CELTICS WILL NOT WIN 4 IN A ROW!

I will continue to say this until they prove me wrong!

Denver Big IMO...thats #2 on my 6 in a row already, locking it in ASAP

I like my home team catching 10 at Phoenix. Also kinda like the OVER 230. Thinkin it may go down to 228-229...but I still may play it...

I don't mean to press this, just wanted some opinions on the likelihood of Dallas -14.5? lol

I'm not sure why you'd ever want to lay -14.5 points in any game. Ya Dallas should roll them. It wouldn't be 14.5 otherwise, but look at last nights boxscore of the Phoenix/Miami game if you need any more reasoning as why I'd never lay that many points. Also keep in mind it's the front end of a B2B for the Mavericks. I doubt they keep their starters in for the 4th qtr much if they are up by 17 or 18 and at that point your money is squarely on Maurice Ager hitting jump shots.

I think thats the best approach to try...if we all attempt to keep things organized everyone should follow suit or worst case be forced to follow suit...I would imagine that with the increased volume we could see 4,5,6 page discussion threads that are just going to be a headache to filp through for the person actually looking at it for research purposes...

The DALLAS game:
I would actually point to the Mavs bench as key reason not to lay 14.5...they dont have one Anthony Johnson just went down...Stackhouse still hasnt returned...so they are going to have flat stretches.

Now with Philly they havent played well lately ...kept some games close and some not so close.....however there just is always going to be a huge difference bewteen beinga 4 pt dog and losing by 20 then what the outcome will be as 14pt dog...Dallas could be up 22 to start the 4th and just not play the 4th and win by 10.......unless a team is truly that bad its generally useless to lay that price...

I love it. One day after saying the Grizzlies shouldn't be 6.5 point favs to anybody they're back as 6.5 point favs over the Hawks. I think Gasol is coming back Saturday according to his website so that shouldn't be an issue. JJ "could" be back tomorrow, but it's looking more like Saturday for him as well.

Joe Johnson will miss Tuesday's game against the Nuggets and Wednesday's date with the Knicks due to his calf injury.

Hawks coach Mike Woodson also said Johnson might miss Friday’s game against the Grizzlies in Memphis. "My hope is that he’ll be ready to go in time for the [Memphis] game," Woodson said after the Hawks’ shootaround practice Tuesday morning. "But we’re not going to rush him at all. We can’t afford to do anything else."

Joe Johnson said during Tuesday's telecast that he has a plan to be back from a calf injury for Saturday's game against the Bulls.
Mike Woodson said earlier today that he was hoping for Friday vs. Memphis, but it's looking likely that Johnson will miss the entire week, or at least three out of four games.

The Denver line popped out at me too. Even though the Celts have been doing well, they really are not a good team! Yep, they beat up on Philly, d'oh. My initial reaction was to jump on the Nuggets, but looking at the numbers, I am not so sure. Not that familiar with the Nugs, could use some help there!

Memphis being -6.5 faves????? What's wrong with this picture?

Don't think I really want to lay 14 and a half with Dallas!

Golden State? Hmmmm, if Miami could hang with the Suns, why can't the Warriors? Will wait to see what happens to them tonite first. Slight lean towards the Suns though. Still happy about the middle I was able to catch on the Miami game!

Utah? Looks yummy...

These are initial thoughts..... Not playing anything, yet! Want to see what the lines will do. Will the public really hammer the Celts, so I can get the Nugs at a pick? lol

I think two angles you have left out in Denver and boston are the teams level of play. The games are played today , not on paper , not next month or last month...( I know thats obvious..)

Is Denver playing good basketball lately...?? I dont think so....Is Boston playing good basketball...?? the philly game isnt overly impressive but what about the fact DEN trailed at half to ATL after losing to ATL at home...Celts just went to NJ , NJ and Philly and won all 3....so they are playing well

You wont see the public backing Boston ...you will see people thinking Denver is cheap and buying it up...so I can get a better price on Boston....

To me the bottomline is one team is playing well and one isnt. The way I see it this game is basically more of a PKem then one that should have Denver favored....whats really so good about DEN outside of Carmelo...JR Smith is all or nothing , Millers a solid point guard but if people arent hitting shots, then what..?? I think Denver is overhyped.....We dont know about Boston cause they are a young team and we dont how good or even bad they can be...both Pierce and Melo can take over a game...while Den has slightily better talent the celts have home court...

From a value standpoint the Celtics IMO are the play.....Thats just on first glimpse...Celts are 4-1 L5 hosting Denver the loss was by 1 point....basically these same teams at the endof last season matched up with Boston being 3 pt favs and won 106-101....what has changed outside of perception to make you feel they shouldnow be +2.5 instead of -3........??

One thing that has changed since last season is that Al Jefferson has become a beast in the middle for Boston. I think he makes them a much better team than they were a weak ago and has been a big part of their latest winning streak.

Definetly agree...my question was more or less trying to say what has made Denver widen the gap for a 5 pt line change....In reality Boston is actually better now...as you can see I really like Boston.....

I think I've got this Pacers team figured out: win easily at home, lose pathetically on the road. The Knicks meanwhile, have a road game sandwiched in between two long home stints at MSG. I think this is a great spot for Indiana and I'm probably willing to lay the 6.

Nuggets will be a popular play, but I don't trust them on the road right now. Rockets will probably be a popular play too with the quick revenge factor, I'm interested to see where that line is at.

I don't recommend any of those road dogs tomorrow, I think anyone who bets them is going to be praying for a back-door cover. Do you really expect Golden State, Sacramento, Milwaukee, Miami or Seattle to win outright? Ask yourself that before taking the points with any of those teams.

agree with the logic of understanding you really shouldnt be grabbing points if your ONLY hoping for some sort of backdoor cover...I do think when you start talking about 10pts in GS case its abit different. GS has been horrible on the road but these teams matchup with similiar styles..GS lost on a Nash 3 at home w/o Baron Davis. Also you will have Suns returning home after a 5game in 7 day road trip...GS has the offensive firepower to compete with them...and I would hope the line drifted higher say if Houston won SU tonite...I also think Milw can give CHI some trouble.. generally speaking those areto me right now the only attractive road dogs...

I am lining up for Celts and the ML....

Not sure I would agree with your 'handle' on Indy...Pacers have played well at times on the road. I think recently they starting looking bad when the road trip caught up to them so to speak...they came home were undervalued to Orl and Det and won accordingly...actually the most recent road games cant count they were shorthanded with injuries...still havent really looked at much..

it scares me to back up the celtics tomorrow since denver is coming off their biggest loss of the season despite anthony's 37pt effort. the celtics have yet to win a home game since they beat portland. celtics have lost 4 straight at home already. denver is obviously the popular pick here. but i like it how celtics put up a good fight against good offensive teams. momentum is on celtics side, however motivation on the nuggs.

im on the celtics myself, i believe they can pull this off.

any other thoughts on the indy/knicks game? indy-6 sounds good to me. curry has been great the past few games. will he be an effective offensive presence in indy? do the pacers have enough bodies to cover curry? public is all over indy at 70%. trap maybe? could nyk pull of the win? thoughts? insights?

driver, i posted earlier that I liked the under in that game because the Knicks do use Curry and are able to control the clock longer also getting better shots. Pacers shouldnt be as motivated as they were against the Pistons because they feel its a rivalry so I could see them coming out a little flat. I think +6 could be a good play.

Celtics BIG tomorrow IMO. Denver looks flat... and I mean on paper pre-season I didn't think this team was amazing... since when are they dominant or worthy of being a great team? Celtics probably been eyeing this one for awhile... and need to really re-establish their homecourt. They are right back in the thick of things in the east.

Since Wade is confirmed out does anyone think Wiz -10 is solid. I have to like Arenas -10 at home. Plus its the same number Phx was layign in Miami.

I posted this in another thread but I will post it here too:

The UNDER 202 in the Bucks/Bulls game is very appealing. Look what the Bulls have done defensively at home on this current homestand:

12/2/2006 Home W 112-94 vs. #18 Washington
12/4/2006 Home W 100-82 vs. #25 Boston
12/6/2006 Home W 121-94 vs. #30 Philadelphia
12/8/2006 Home W 93-90 vs. #22 Toronto
12/9/2006 Home L 81-91 vs. #8 Minnesota
12/11/2006 Home W 106-91 vs. #17 Indiana
12/13/2006 Home W 99-84 vs. #19 Seattle

Really strong points made on the Celtics and thats the way I lean as well in that one.
One total I am looking at hard is Seattle/Cleveland over 191....The last two for Cleveland have gone over against New Orleans and Charlotte while Seattle has played under their last two on the road where the numbers were 207 and 198. This appears to be a little overreaction imo as Seattle has gone under in 4 of its last 5 without Ray Ray and now we have Seattle's 2nd lowest total of the year @ 191. I think this one approaches 100 for both teams as neither team plays great D, Seattle should push the pace and Lebron will do his thing.

Seattle is 9-2 O/U in a road game when the total is between 190 and 194

I've lined up behind the Celts for the last several days. The most important aspect of their recent improved play are the Wally and Perkins injuries. One of the biggest problems with this team was establishing any consistent play because of River's line-ups and substitution patterns with so many "equal" parts available.

With the # of available bodies being lessened, Jefferson, Gomes and Green have been allowed more court time and assumed more responsibility at both ends of the floor.

That said, Boston at home is just a different animal. I attend a lot of games and they often seem lethargic and soft thru the first two quarters.

I do like the idea of them coming home after a few strong road showings attempting to halt a home court losing streak - should be some good motivation there to start strong and maintain a focused level of play.

I also like Melo dropping 37 in Denver's loss the other night. That falls into my "Superstar complacency" theory which basically is "ok, we lossed, but I had a hell of a game". That equals less motivation in the next game to make up for that loss. If Melo shoots 4 for 17 and scores 18, he probably throws some guff around the locker room and both he and teammates are a little more inspired in the next outing.

I'll take the Celts again tonight and also look for a Boston 2H wager if they're down at the half.

I've already played a unit on the 76ers at +15...... Just too many points, if the 76ers dont cover, how big will the spread on a b2b on the road against the spurs tommorrow???

Knicks have been scoring alot of points lately and giving up alot as well, the Pacers are now healthy and should score atleast 95-100 points against the knicks so i've already played a unit on the over @ 194

Bucks are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and have no players on the bench that can score, their last game on weds all of their starts played atleast 34mins, the bucks are tired and will come out of the gates flat. Chicago hasnt allowed more than 94 pts at home this month.... i see a 95-87 win for the bulls. I've already got 1 unit on the under @ 202

I do think Boston is playing alot better ball right now and Denver has looked flat last few games.. however i think this could be a bad spot on the schedule to back boston.... they just had a 3 game road trip now return home for one game and have to go back on the road to charlotte 2maro...
