The Padres are set to promote Odrisamer Despaigne, MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes tweets. They’ll need to clear a spot on their 40-man roster to make space for him. Despaigne, a Cuban pitcher who the Padres signed to a minor league deal in May, had two good starts for Double-A San Antonio before posting a 7.61 ERA in five starts for Triple-A El Paso. He did, however, post 11.0 K/9 and 4.9 BB/9 in 23 2/3 innings there. Despaigne will start in place of Andrew Cashner on Monday, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman suggests (via Twitter). (The Padres are merely being “conservative” in scratching Cashner, Heyman says, although he does not give an exact reason why Cashner won’t be starting.)

Cokin's free play is Toronto. Seems reasonable. Problem is his free plays almost always lose. Yankees this season on the road after 2 losses Win at Houston game 3 4-2 Win at Tampa 5-1 Nuno Win at Anaheim 4-3 Kuroda Win at Mets 4-0 Tanaka Win at Cubs Whitney Win at WS 4-3 Nuno Win at Seattle Nuno 7-0 in spot???
 
The word as things currently stand is Cashner isn't injured or traded but instead that the club is just being conservative with him. Since 2011, he's been on the DL with shoulder or elbow injuries three different times, spanning over 200 games.

Bautista may be out with the knee, Reyes missed Sunday after fouling a ball off his knee and Lawrie just hit the DL. Not a good time for the Jays...

Volquez 4-2 at night 3.75 ERA on 4 days 4-2 3.16 ERA Last 8 has been rotating wins and losses and is up for a win Cobb 1-3 at night 5.64 ERA Cobb on 4 days rest 0-3 5.01 ERA Pitt 7-3 last 10 away Tampa 5-5 last 10 at home More angles but that is enough to get money out of my pocket
