MNF -- Ravens vs Lions Discussion

Well, this is my home team on the road at Baltimore for a MNF clash, so I might as well start a discussion thread!

We'll start with the obvious here --

The Lions STRUGGLE generally vs running QBs. Lamar destroyed them two years at this same venue.

The score was 28-0 at halftime and 35-0 after three quarters.

Lamar accounted for 4 TDs (one rushing). He had 9 carries for 36 yards but the threat to run opened up the air game all first half.

That game did feature the first career TD for Jah Gibbs.

Anyways, if you know the Lions, you know the struggles vs running QBs. This dates back years but has been an issue even during these last few success seasons.

Now, a big topic around the league is the QB injury issue early this season. They are dropping like flies! The Ravens certainly are mindful of that with LJ at the helm...

GOOD READ ON LAMAR AND STAYING HEALTHY

Within that link is this tweet which I think many will find useful for all NFL handicapping...

Now, enough about Baltimore, let's talk DETROIT LIONS!

Week one wasn't pretty. The OL was terrible and frankly the new OCs play calling wasn't all that inspiring. Now, I'd say the Detroit offense hums because they have had a damn good OL for the past 3-4 years. Goff feeds off protection. The Ben Johnson/Morton offensive system needs good protection. Bottom line is, they played a GREAT DL in week #1 and that team will be in the hunt all year...

Which brings us to last week ..

At home, vs a division rival, Detroit looked the part again on offense. Was there an extra motivational factor? Absolutely. They wanted to destroy that team/coach. Either way, they looked like themselves with the OL looking much better.

Tonight is a good litmus test vs another SB contender. Win or lose, we'll come out of this week with an idea of what this team can accomplish moving forward. Big test for a defense that's been inconsistent so far.

Back to the Ravens, no team knows heartbreak quite like the Baltimore Ravens! We saw many games last year turn from wins to losses. Well, week #1 may have trumped them all! This is a matchup with a SB contender (maybe) that can slightly make up for that Buffalo game. National TV, at home. I think they will be juiced up!

So, let's spend the afternoon breaking this one down. I expect to see the prop gang chiming in @2daBank @ScopeY @CJG @Lexington 125 .

Go Lions, and let's have a great night cashing some bets!

Ravens do very well at home vs NFC teams.

Yeah, it's something like 24-2 over the last 26.

And it's the regular season for Jackson so you can pretty much expect an extraordinary performance.

Ravens and the total. Which should mean good things for your team, B.A.R.

When Goff was with the Rams, on the road vs a high caliber D was not a good combination. I think he’s going to suffer without Ben Johnson.

Still, to me, comes down to the OL performance.

That's Goff in a nutshell to me -- good to great OL play he does well. Pressure and limited time, he REALLY struggles.

Sure, most QBs do, but with Jared I believe it's much worse.

Still to be determined about Ben Johnson. Morton was a big part of those concepts initially. Week #1 bad OL and shaky play calling. Week #2 both had found remedies.

Goff's work on the road has been much better the last two years. We'll see how tonight goes.

ASB receiving o71.5 and Gibbs rush o54.5

ASB staked a bit higher.

Gibbs is super low right now and I understand game flow could be an issue if Baltimore starts out hot. Still, I think he passes this relatively easy.

ASB in prime form and should cook. Especially good bet if Detroit playing from behind.

Better lucky than good.

Especially on ASB prop.
