A friend of mine asked me if I had seen something about MLB wanting to make a new rule that a pitcher has to go 6 innings to get a win. He wondered what I thought. I said I heard something about it, but it was so stupid I didn't give it a second thought. Pitchers are groomed/trained/made to only throw 100 pitches or less in the minors. Having them have to go 6 innings to get a win in the majors is impossible. Maybe 1 in 5 starts actually goes 6 innings and most don't complete the 6th in any start all year. So, what do I think? I have actually been waiting for MLB to make it just 4 innings to qualify for a win, but this is an even better idea to make today's pitchers go 6 innings as long as you make marathon races 200 miles long instead of just 26.
