Wiretowire

Pretty much a regular
YTD 0 First bets and really stupid to do so.

New season and why is it stupid to make bets today? Simple. I don't know shit, you don't know shit, the books don't know shit. Seriously we all know nothing about these pitchers or teams. You should never really bet until the pitchers have had 3 starts. Then at least you have some, but not much, info to work with.

If someone says a team or pitcher did this or not in the spring ignore them. Pitchers use spring to work on new pitches. Hitters use spring to try out hitting to other fields or new stances or who knows what as they don't really give a shit more than getting some timing down and even that is worthless because they are going against minor league arms in most cases. Throw in that every other player won't make the big club and you or "they" are quoting info for the sole purpose of listening to themselves talk or because you have to make shit up to sound smart because that's what they pay you for. And the worst possible info is "That pitcher or hitter did this or that LAST YEAR." Oh lord please run from these talking head morons. Players are not the same from last August to this March let alone from year to year. You have to watch them this year, look at their stats, and cap their teams offensive performance from this year only. Please seriously listen to me on this point it will save you tons of money in the long run.

Finally, never, never, never look at team names or player names. Look at cold hard stats not what you expect a team or player to do. Yes, on paper LA has a monster team this year. But paper never won shit in all the years I have been playing or betting baseball and since that comes to around 65 years betting and or playing, I think I know what I am talking about.

Finally, if you don't like MLB because you never bet odds higher than -150 then please walk away. You won't and undoubtedly have never made any money betting MLB with that restriction so don't try again this year if high odds scare you. Every year I bet ridiculous odds through the course of the season and every year people tell me that I can never win doing that and every year I win money over the course of the year. Now I agree you can't just bet a team that is -240 just because they are a big favorite but there are tricks to betting those games and coming out ahead. You will learn some of those after we have some stats to work with. Until then I am guessing. Everyone is guessing. So bet low to start the season until we have enough information to go after the books.

All this being said I don't expect people to agree with me or anything I say. I am here to share my perspective and make some money in the long run. I happen to be working for the next 7 1/2 weeks but I am on spring break this week so I can take the time to post and probably piss you off with my opinions. After this week I will post what I can when I can. Now some general tips for betting MLB this year.

1. I already said this, but I can't stress it enough, bet low until we have almost every starter with 3 starts this year.
2. Never bet MLB through a local bookie. Get an online account because the local books will see what your betting tendency is and jack the lines in his favor. Online can't do that very easily.
3. If you get an online account BetMGM is the best for MLB lines. You will see why in a moment, but they give the best buying runs on and off opportunities.
4. This is supposed to be fun. If it gets to be stressful stop betting and gambling right away and walk away. You will be richer in the long run. It's entertainment folks not a living.

I will say this once, all overs are -140 because I probably bought 1/2 run off the total and all unders are -130 because I probably bought 1/2 run on the total or I will tell you if it's a straight total with nothing bought then the odds are -110. By the way, I don't bet in units. If I say all x50 each it means all x$50 each. The YTD total is what I am + or - in dollars. I will go into how I cap totals after we have enough stats. (3 pitcher starts)

In the meantime, let's piss away some money............

All x50 each

MLW/Mets over 7
Ana/Balt over 7
Atl/Phil over 7
Tor/TB over 7
NYY/Hou over 8
StL/LA over 8

Parlay: (MGM) To get these totals over 3 1/2 go to each game hit "all wagers" then "totals" then scroll down to all the posted totals the first one is over 3 1/2.

MLW/Mets over 3 1/2 -1000
Ana/Balt over 3 1/2 -1000
Atl/Phil over 3 1/2 -900
Wash/Cinn over 3 1/2 -1600
Tor/TB over 3 1/2 -900
Minn/KC over 3 1/2 -1000
Det/CHW over 3 1/2 -1000
NYY/Hou over 3 1/2 -1400
SF/SD over 3 1/2 -900
STL/LA over 3 1/2 -1600
Cubs/Tex over 3 1/2 -1200

-100/+160

I make this kind of bet a lot during the season, but I don't post it in here because not everyone has BetMGM and I strongly suggest you get it, but I also realize a lot of states don't allow MGM. If it's not allowed in your state, then move! I put it in here today to show the versatility of offers MGM has. Oh, and if you think this bet is wacky wait until you see what I do parlaying +runs.

Here's to another great MLB season. GL

And my first rant of the year.....

MLB go fuck yourself. Attendance is down and has been for years and you have the first games of the season played in fucking Korea???? Yeah, that will get the American fans excited about a new year. And why the Dodgers? You wanted to showcase what is expected to be the best team in baseball to Korean fans who couldn't give a shit? Nice. Oh, and did I mention that LA is one of the few if only teams that sell out every year? Nice job morons. You just cost LA two games sell outs by going over there. GL

I agree that a person can get a better idea of who is who after 3 starts. Ive started looking at late season results to show how a team finsised the season and if they are going to be better than last year. I/E. Detroit, Oakland and Most improved should be Kansas City.
Im alos willing to fade teams with new managers because they usually made enough roster changes because they arent sure what they have either. I.E. Cleveland.

Youre right, in the first 40 games of the season we start seeing who is who?

You've been at this 65years! Even if you started gambling at age 15 that makes you 80 years old...LOL No wonder you still have to work. LOL. <<<just kidding

Seriously - many good points Wire. BOL to you all season.

I agree on the shit games in Korea. Im tired of searching for games on different networks every damn day.
If MLB or NFL likes that shit so much - then fucking MOVE there!

Thanks Gman. Good points about the teams with new managers. Especially if they made no moves in the off season. Cle is a great example. The age thing kind of came out wrong. Should have been more specific. Started playing at 8 and betting at 14. Not quite 80 but well into the 70's. Yes, I'm fucking old but kind of amazed and happy I made it this long. More amazed. GL

That working thing. A new teacher I helped 15 years ago who was just starting out just went on maternity leave for the second time and asked me to be her long term sub for 4 months. I wouldn't have done it for anyone else but she is in admin and the pay is ridiculously good even for a sub so I stupidly said ok. My wife is happy mostly because she gets to call me Janice all the time. GL
