Thanks Pirate. Sorry the Yanks lost. GL

That game went exactly as I planned last night right up to the Yanks bringing in Cortes, who hadn't pitched in a month, and as he always does, he threw a first pitch fastball that still hasn't landed yet. What is the impact of that? Nothing really as far as the fundamentals of the series. The Yanks only need to split the first two games to take the home field advantage back to NY. And as I have always said emotions don't play into the actual performance of the game. You play ice cold if you want to perform at your peak.

But there can be a psychological impact from a game like that. It is in Judge's mind that he didn't come through when they walked Soto to pitch to him with the game on the line. It's certainly on Cortes's mind that he gave up a moon ball fast ball on his first pitch. It is on the Dodgers mind that they can come back from any deficit at any time, and it is also on the Yankees mind that no matter what they do they can't beat those guys. These things can have an impact on the series, but it was just the first game, so this is more something to watch for than it is to ring alarm bells. And for the record, I was laughing my ass off that they walked Soto to pitch to Judge which I thought was the dumbest move I have ever seen. Dumbest right up until it worked. Cudos to Roberts for that move.

NYY ML +120 -50/+60 - I see both starters as being relatively equal, and I am counting on the Yankee bats to come alive, but I am willing to change my mind about this series if LA hammers Rodon and proves they are invincible.

As for the total, runs should be scored again today. GL

Wire---tough game for us on the yanks but that swing cashed my over so i was ok in the end, and seeing my childhood friend/teammate from Babe ruth to ECU celebrate (Clayton McCullough 1st base coach for Dodgers---played LL with him thru ECU where he was the standout catcher--he will be a manager this off season, His dad Howard was a super MLB scout--signed Nomar, Pedro, Big Papi to Boston and later built the dbacks team).
I was chatting with my neighbor and friend thru the game---he played his high school ball with Nasty Nestor Cortez in Miami (along with Nick Castellanos, Kyle Tucker and other MLB players) before he went to NC state....he said Nestor could never be a reliever---as you know being a catcher, it takes a certain personality and Nestor is too firey and emotional. I texted him "game over" when Nestor was brought in, and he said, "watch him give up a homer." Well, they walk Betts stupidly and rest is history.

I have been on the fence with the yanks play today, so far i went big on the over again (and we have Andy fletcher--the overs Ump god--always 13 runs a game, and 26-8 over), and played Dodgers F5 due to Yamamota but weighing a yankees game play or may just sit with what i have as I'm already emotionally vested as a suffering yanks fan HA!

Good luck tonight, and GO yankees!

Really think this the only day lad will have the starting pitcher edge and I’ve thought all along lad will be hitting yanks pen. Think they going back to Ny 2-0, dodgers lineup Is just so deep, Stanton playing like a beast helps but if judge doesn’t figure out how to hit in big spots in postseason im not sure this series goes much longer than 5, although I did say lad in 6 going in. The problem is yanks have a starting pitcher edge but it isn’t massive enough to overcome lad lineup depth and superior pen imo. Have to ride with lad again tonight. At least one of us cash, gl brother

LAD offense just better than the Yanks offense, it’s that simple. Cole pitched great game and yanks lost, Yanks in deep shit in my opinion. More overs this post season than ever before….. mediocre pitching at best by all teams. GL on the action w2w and thank you for sharing your thoughts over the years, always look forward to and appreciate your thoughts

I think Roberts might have extended the series an extra game by overexposing his pen when Yamamoto was pitching so amazing game 2. I know he hasn’t been back from injury real long but he was still well under 90 pitches and stress free dominating yanks, I woulda let him pitch the entire 7th, in grand scheme prob not a huge deal but he did give yanks hitters extra at bats vs key pen guys lad gonna need next few games now that they have used their only 2 real viable starters. Just means to me maybe it goes 6 instead of 5? Still nothing has changed in the fact yanks pen isn’t good enough to close out lad lineup even days they do have a starting pitcher edge. And judge just ain’t big time like Ohtani, Soto, Betts, even Stanton, judge shrinks in the moments and without him it’s a total mismatch. Think the marine layer at Chavez kept some balls in the yard gm1 and 2, without even capping pitchers (I still don’t even know who starting tonight, bout to look now, lol) I instantly played over 8 for tonight when it came out, figure if anything it have to go up cause makes no sense in this bandbox, gonna actually cap now and see how I want to go bout it all tonight.

Im with you, @Wiretowire mlb thread is one my fav things bout this place, love talking and getting his thoughts on bases!
