Series: Offenses being equal, I like NY better than LA because NY can throw Cole, Cortes, Rodon, and Scmidt while LA can throw Flaherty, Yamamoto, Buehler, and Knack. I never thought I would say these words during my lifetime, but the Yankees have the pitching advantage in this series. Their starters have simply been more solid overall than the Dodgers starters.
As for those offenses, I think the key for NY is getting Rizzo back. If LA wants to win this series Freeman must be healthy and Ohtani needs to hit leadoff HR's which he probably won't because they will never throw to him, so I still think he is wasted at leadoff. All the other hitters on both sides come out basically even. Runs will be scored in this series. I can't see how they won't because even though I gave the pitching nod to NY, they really aren't that great.
My bet?
NYY ML +100 -50/+50 - Cole has been very solid and Flaherty got crushed in his last allowing 8 runs in just 3 innings to the light hitting Mets. The key to that performance is Flaherty threw 75 pitches in just 3 innings. He obviously couldn't find the strike zone. Now Bill Miller was behind the plate for that game and he's a notorious over umpire, but it still doesn't bode well.
Total lean over 8 1/2 but I'm not betting it because both offenses have been sitting on their ass for the last week not seeing game condition pitching. Two best offenses in MLB could have trouble scoring out of the box in game #1 but you can't bet under either with these two, so I pass.
