In town media is wondering why it happened now. The answer is quite simple. They lost to the Browns. The Steelers have considered the Browns their personal bitch for over 30 years. They haven't finished behind them in the standings since Kosar was QB. When your bitch starts slapping you around its time to take some personal stock. This is not the first time in recent years that this has happened.
Last year in Week 3 the Browns beat Watt-less Pittsburgh 29-17. At halftime of the next game Trubisky's leash was pulled and the Pickett era began.
In 2019 Big Ben was out and Mason Rudolph was QB. In week 10 the Browns literally clubbed the Steelers over the head 21-7 (the Garrett swinging helmet game). It dropped Rudolph's record as a starter to 4-3. The next week they trailed the Bengals 7-3 at half. On the first drive of the 2nd half Rudolph went 3 & out, and on their next drive the Duck Hodges legend became a thing.

Getting rid of the second worst OC in the league is the right move but I don't think Pickett is talented enough to be the long term answer for the Steelers.
