Kyler murray vs his dad kevin

majent

Oklahoma Sooners
Someone on this site back in the summer thought his dad kevin Murray was the chit back at Texas a&m in the mid 80s and kyler wouldn't touch his legacy, but leme tell you, his son kyler is on a totally different level as a college player than his old man was. It is not even close

Boomer!!!

Dude has a cannon for an arm. Saw him hit a TE tonight. Had to be a 40 yard throw. The camera couldn’t keep up. Freaking laser.

So quick.

If he can learn to put his head down and get a yard when needed (not often or he might get hurt but in key spots) he will be that much better.

Any chance he can play safety for OU?

Great player and a great offense .. I mean they are solid at every position on that side of the ball.

Their games are just hard to watch though as a fan of football. Much preferred watching wishbone.

If you could switch Ehlinger and Murray, imagine what the line for the Texas v OU game would be...

Kyler couldn't be any worse than #20 for OU. Hate to bag on the kids, but that dude straight up quit last night.

I saw his dad play.
He carried a team farther than it should go.
Kevin took off a long run and went to tightrope the sideline the last few yards. Got hit , the outside of his foot touched his ankle.
Against Rice if I remember right. Ankle didn't break.
For some reason , I remember that play more than any others. That could say something about dad not pulling as many memorable plays as son.

Kyler plays in the land of no defense. When you score 59 to win by 3, that's not saying much. He faced tougher D's in high school.
Two years removed and a lot of growth , but he didn't run like that vs. the SEC.

i also saw Kevin Murray play in college, it was his senior season 1986 at A&M. he was smart, poised, in control, a very good game manager and just enough athleticism in jackie sherrill's offense to allow for some option plays to extend the D east and west before hitting them upfield. you might recall that the year after he left (1987) the aggies won 10 games which is one more than kevin won in 1986, albeit the 87 season had lesser qb play.

in terms of sheer athletic ability and arm strength, kyler is in a class way above his old man. kevin did not have heisman type ability even if he played in this current era of no defense and all offense. kyler will be sitting in the heisman presentation as either the winner or the runner up.

Oklahoma has as bad a defense as any elite program has ever had. It's amazing to watch just how bad they are. And, unlike most bad defenses, they are equally bad against the run and the pass. If Texas is smart they will just run the ball every play, average about 8 yards a play, and keep Murray on the bench for long periods. On that one QB sneak by WV on the one-yard line every OU D-lineman and linebacker were blasted flat on their backs.

Murray makes playing QB look easier than any player I have ever seen. He's doing unbelievable things, and yet he makes it looks like it's easy for him. I am so used to seeing him just do whatever he wants with what seems to be no effort I was shocked for a minute last night when it showed a closeup and he was breathing hard and trying to get his wind back.

And he's doing it with the first 3 RBs out with injury. He should win the Heisman. Don't know if he will, but he's in a class by himself. He knows he has to score every possession or his team is going to lose, so he just goes out and scores.

Tahoe you are so right. The dichotomy between our O and D is remarkable. That said I think we avenge the Texas loss. Somewhere mike stoops deep down inside is giggling but we'll get the last laugh.

We need ohio state to win this game right now to clear a path......

He's benefited from conditioning or growth, one or maybe both. He didn't quite have the zip on the long ball, two years ago that he has now.
I loved to watch him at ALLEN high. A lot of fun, great band too. Their games were highlights.
The drama ruined it for me.

OU, and sometimes Tx , were the only teams that had defenses in that conference for the longest time.
Bama now scores in the 50's.
Signs of the apocalypse.

A lot of guys are much stronger at age 20/21 than they were at 18/19. Late bloomers. Very common. I grew an inch after HS graduation to touch 6'2" but in my old age I'm back down to 6'1" lol
