There is a good chance that during this calendar month, South Carolina will hire its next football coach.

Based on the latest intel, here are my personal odds on the next coach.
Tom Herman, Houston head coach: 3-1
Kirby Smart, Alabama defensive coordinator: 5-1
Justin Fuente, Memphis head coach: 6-1
Shawn Elliott, South Carolina interim head coach: 20-1
Charlie Strong, Texas head coach: 25-1
FIELD: 30-1

A few notes...
-Herman is what you would call the “leading candidate” to land the job, but that does not mean that Gamecocks athletics director Ray Tanner is going “all in” on one guy and not doing his homework or considering others.

-We’ve been told Smart remains highly-interested in the South Carolina job and that on his end, the feeling is that he’s in the thick of it.

-We hear some current Southern California assistants could be in the mix to be on the staff at South Carolina under either Herman or Smart. Trojans interim head coach Clay Helton, if he doesn’t get the permanent gig in Los Angeles, could very well be one. He coached at Houston, Duke and Memphis prior to heading to SC, so he has ties to the southeast. Helton has a phenomenal reputation in the coaching community.

-Current Houston defensive coordinator Todd Orlando is in the midst of having a banner year with the Cougars. The former Utah State and Connecticut assistant has the No. 30 ranked (total defense) in the country. Against the run, UofH is No. 11. In the American Athletics Conference, given the dynamic offensive attacks Houston faces, those are stellar numbers. It’s too early to tell if Herman would bring Orlando with him from Houston, but what is factual is that Orlando is a rising star at defensive coordinator, similar to Barry Odom at Memphis (now Missouri) last season.

-I’ve heard for about a year now that Rich Rodriguez and Chad Morris are the two names to really keep an eye on as far as the Virginia Tech job, which opened Sunday after Frank Beamer announced his retirement, is concerned.

been busy all sunday getting ready for a sale and then been slammed the beginning part of the week. I have been looking at a few plays and slow to get on the totals so will get back to the comp late today to get on that

haha a lot of people will want him for sure. that was just info from a buddy that is plugged in and he has been pretty spot on this year so we will see how it plays out. I said it before Ray Tanner should just go to the Memphis/Houston game ready to make deals happen haha. Or we just sign Kirby Smart right now, I would be perfectly fine with that.

For anyone that we get I think I will be happy. I am just excited to see us in the mix for some coaches that could have a real impact.

While I am limited on the specifics I can offer at this time, I would say I feel better today about South Carolina’s chances to land Houston head coach Tom Herman today than I have at any other point in the process. That is NOT to say it is a done deal, or anywhere close to being done, but I have spoken with more than one source in the last 24-48 hours who has told me athletic director Ray Tanner is happy with where things are headed.

bought off the 5.5 ill and may wait to see what that line does and add to ill at the lower number
 
took duke early and bought a couple points thinking the line would drop and it has but after looking at the game more there is a chance that UNC could put it on them. I am taking a couple units on UNC with -7 (b.5)

OK MARK IT CTG the only time you will catch your boy here betting on UNCC. They are terrible, but no reason FIU should be a 3 score favorite over anyone. They beat UCF by 1 pt. This line should probably be closer to a TD
