Kobe Bryant is about to...

the more Kobe scores the less likely it is that the Lakers win/cover. Every WC contender could only hope that Kobe would go on a selfish streak and try to score 60+ in every game.

thats hustle mans theory - but its a backwards theory - its more like, because nearly every other Laker is sucking cock on offense (look at their shooting stats: 3-7/1-7/1-4/3-8 from other starters), Kobe has to put the whole load on his shoulders, and hes shooting great: over 50%, unreal from 3 point land.

the real fact goes: the more the rest of the Lakers suck as a totality, the less likely it is Kobe can cover/win by himself

I'd honestly rather not be associated with Hustle Man but if that's his theory I somewhat agree with him. The problem to me with Kobe scoring so much is that there is ZERO ball movement and ZERO defense by the supporting cast. Everybody on the Lakers team just stands around watching on the offensive end and they do the exact same thing on defense. Memphis has just been dunking the ball all night while the Lakers stand and watch.

and phil the man but da fuck is he bringing odom in for to spot up for 3's. uve got radman as a specialist fucking use him. god damnit.

fuckin garbage

how the fuck do you lose to 2 shit ass teams at home ?

and how the fuck do the Grizz have 20 more ft attempts ?

lakers need Bynum and Gasol back soon

wow i fell for the Lakers -13.5, i guess too many expected them to bounce back, wow twice in a row losing as 13+ favorites

lakeshow on the verge of yet another 2nd half collapse?
(although this year would be later then usual)

I will give them that theyve been without bynum and Yag-sol,
and ariza was an excellent fit for them and he got injured shortly after he arrived. is he going to return for the playoffs?

HUSTLE_MAN IS DANCIN IN THE STREETS SOMEWHERE WITH A RUDY Yag JERSEY ON.....
:smiley_abvm:
(sorry throwback, but ive always been a lakeshow/kobe hater..)

lakers dominate stats and lose. How the fuck did the Grizz get so many ft's ? thats the only thing that stands out

ariza should be back for the playoffs.

grizz drove to the hoop. lakers settled for 3's. 45 motherfucking 3's. jesus christ. vujacic can go fuck himself.

If after this game the league doesn't get why Kobe is the only MVP candidate this season, I think the league should be shut down!

WHY? just because kobe put up 50 points

end result, they lost the game.

MVP's find ways to win games for their team, and not only by scoring points.
and they sure as hell dont lose to 3rd rate teams like memphis at home

Because it shows what kind of a team he took game and a half away from the top spot in the West.

kobe got Odom a wide open look at a 3 late in the game down 2, i think under 1 min and Odom being as clutch as he is missed it.

what? come on. Now the Lakers are a bad team? Ok if the Lakers (even without Kobe) are a bad team then I don't know what a good team is. I'm not the biggest fan of Luke Walton but take a look at their roster, especially when Pau and Bynum are both healthy. Top 3 in the league for sure. The Lakers are not just Kobe and the cast this season. Love it how they lose whenever he tries to take over like this though.

But they're THE shit this season, still number one candidates to win it all if you ask me.

I think this shows what one player trying to do everything himself does to the team. I mean he had 32 pts with time left in the 4th, meaning he wasn't watching as his team missed everything, then came in to help. he tried to do it, probably in revenge for getting teched out last game- and his selfishness threw off the team. For all the skill he has he should've gotten to the FT line a lot more. I'll admit I didn't watch the game, so this is based on stats, but with 17 3pt attempts, he likely just stood around and shot 3s instead of taking it to the hoop all game. I agree with JP... and hustleman... Kobe taking lotta shots/getting lotta pts- =lakers worse team. I think the lakers are one of the best teams in the league- they are fuckin stacked in every position. when 1 player tries to take over- it'll throw off team chemistry- which can effect the team defense. if they don't feel involved/rewarded on offense, it makes it less inspirational on defense

imo this was a game that kobe was saying fuck you for teching me out- so imma show you that i'm mad. and it ende dup[ hurting the team

I'm a Lakers fan ever since the Magic time, so it is very hard to accuse me of being Lakers hater or anything, but to be honest, as much as I love this team, the only reason we are candidates for the title is Kobe. If you put T-Mac instead or AI or most of the other superstars, they won't even make it to play off with their roster, even with Gasol and Bynum healthy. I mean I love Farmar and Radmanovich and of course Fisher, but they all play great when everything is good, as soon as there is some heat, it's Kobe's time. Against Dallas, at Staples Center he carried the team to the victory. In Dallas he kept the things together in the first half, till his teammates gained some confidence.
Lakers players aren't like the Pistons, that every time some else is hot. It is every player suddenly can't miss or the whole supporting cast suddenly can't hit a shot no matter how many open looks they got. I mean Kobe ended this game with one assist!!! If it was Kobe passing to Kobe, he would have got a triple double and maybe even 20 assists. I just fail to see how any other player can even be compared this season with Kobe. Even with the injured finger he still the most valuable player in the league. To give Garnett the title is a joke, just like Nowitzki was last year and the same joke to years in a row stops being funny.
LeBron? Why?! Because he lead Cavs to the fourth position in the East? I bet you that a team from this forum readers can do the same. Kobe leading a solid team, not a great team to one of the first places in the toughest conference I remember in ages. How limited his squad? Well we saw that against Memphis, not the best defending team in the league. They aren't Pistons, Spurs!!!
That what I meant and that is why he is MVP.

Wow, not even playoffs? I have to disagree here, and unlike you, I AM a Laker 'hater' :D, as a long time Spurs fan now I have to dislike them right? :D

Fish for pres my ass :D

It's safe to say we disagree on this one Divol, I think the Lakers are well coached, deep, talented bunch + they have Kobe. This is by no means a Kobe show team. Once it turns out to be one (see last night's boxscore) they start sucking.

One of the first places? Buddy, the Hornets are number one :D, does it mean Paul is even better? And remember, they have no bench, they have no backup PG of his caliber (or even NEAR), this is CP3's team and he makes them play like contenders.

Sorry but even though I like reading your writeups per usual, I don't like what you wrote here. Underestimating LeBron is unnecessary. He took them to the finals last year. He scored 29 of 31 against Detroit at one point, beating the best D in the league singlehandedly.

I really don't understand your reasoning here. So you're saying the Lakers are exposed now for what they really are and THAT'S WHY Kobe is MVP, because DESPITE them being an under par team, he still brought them here?

Who is better then I ask you? Who has better coaching, a deeper team, better inside scoring, trio of Odom/Bynum/Pau, etc...

You can say what you said about Radmanovic/Farmar/Fisher (btw Fisher is as clutch as they get, trust me I know ;)) could be said of 95% of the players.

I also think Kobe should have got the MVP award by now but this hype now is unneeded. They lost to a sucky team at home, Kobe dropped 53, wow so what? He dropped 50 in what, 5 consecutive games or something last season yet they were shaky.

Zen Master got himself a team this season, and the Lakers are one tough bunch this year.

imo this was a game that kobe was saying fuck you for teching me out- so imma show you that i'm mad. and it ende dup[ hurting the team

I agree. No reason whatsoever to praise him after this game. Not this one.

LeBron will be a great player, but right now, he is not of Kobe's level. Is he as good? Is he better? The history will judge. NBA Finals? Give me a break! He won Wizards without Arenas or Butler, than the Nets and than Pistons lost and they would have lost to any team in that series. They just were a no show. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing LeBron. But I honestly can't see any other candidate for the title. I'm not talking about the 53 points Kobe scored, but I believe that today's game showed how limited Lakers atill are despite everyone making them in to a dream team.

First of all, Bynum and Pau haven't played a single game together yet and probably won't play in regular season, so this duo as such is irrelevant to the MVP race as the best supporting cast award :).
Who is better than Odom and Bynum??? I really don't like Odom, so you ask that the wrong guy. CP3 got better big guys with Chandler and West, that are better than Odom and Bynum. LeBron plays with Ilgauskas a great Center that continues to get overlooked. He is a decent defender with soft hand, decent passes. Gooden/ Big Ben/ Joe Smith all decent players as well. I'm not talking about the Spurs with Kurt + Timmy, Suns with their monsters in the paint, Magic or the Pistons.
Radmanovich by the way missed almost half a season as well with lots of injuries.

This should be archived. Never in my life have I seen a post dedicated to making so many role players in the league into All-Stars. :36_11_6:

Ilgauskas is a great center? Holy shit that's funny. Loved the soft hands reference. You're talking about a guy that plays 30 mins and doesn't average 15 points or 10 rebounds a game. I'd hold off on the great label for a bit. Servicable? Yes.

The linesmakers have already finished the argument about who's more valuable to their team from a gambling perspective. Not sure why some fans refuse to see it.

As far as the MVP goes they might as well give it to Kobe as he's never won it. I'd really like to see KG grab the award, but that stetch of games he missed might hurt him. I don't see any way they give it to CP3 as he's just to young. Is it right? No, but it's the way that shit goes. Also not sure how they give it to THE most valuable player as the Cavs will come in 4th in the East. I'd much rather see Kobe get it as the best player on a team at the top of the west than LBJ.

Lebron is 23....Lebron has dominated Kobe...Lebron can guard Kobe, Kobe cant guard Lebron BOTTOM LINE>....Let alone Cleveland have dominated this series also. Cavs could have beat Detroit the year before also....quit hating. Put Lebron in Kobes place and put Kobe in Cleveland. Kobe is one of the best ever but Lebron has already past him. Lebron took a team with a terrible coach and shit players to the Finals. Mike Brown is a fucking disgrace.

Soft hands got nothing to do with rebounding. It goes mostly for the mid range shots and nice under the rims lay ups. Ilgauskas isn't a great Center, but he is a good Center. Second best in the East, after Howard (maybe third after Bogut).
Is Bynum an All Star right now? Is Gasol given the fact that he missed more games the past two seasons than he played? Bynum will be a great Center, but right now he is far from being one of the best in the league.

As far as the MVP "give it to Kobe, because he never won it"! That is fucking dumb.... I hear it all the time ...That is what they did to Shaq also...he should have should have a couple more MVPs....Kobe might be deserving, dont get me wrong, but the thought that he should get the MVP because he never got was is dumb

I agree but that's the way the voters work. It's been that way forever. I think there is enough +'s for the voters to give it to Kobe barring a Lakers collapse down the stretch.

Theres no way Lebron could've lead that team last year to the finals had they played in the West. My Warriors would've went to the finals if they played in the East.

kobe cant guard lebron. :36_11_6:

Seriously he cant, Lebron has forced him to very tough jumpers every 4th but Lebron has bullied him. He is too small to guard him. I know Kobe is a lot better defender at this point in their careers BUT size, strength, and speed are making it up for Lebron right now.
