Oh, well, I don't think you should really be going off anything I have to say. I just looked at some of the numbers against Kuroda and figured it was worth a shot (plus Buchholz has terrible numbers at the new Yankee Stadium - against much better lineups than the one he'll face tonight, I know, but still...)

If you're going to cheer for something, might as well cheer for runs.

Monday:

6/3/2013 7:10 PM MLB Baseball 956 Cincinnati Reds* -135 vs Colorado Rockies
6/3/2013 10:05 PM MLB Baseball 964 Los Angeles Angels* -1 -131 vs Houston Astros

*Let's break a few rules tonight... Rule #1: "Don't bet a team if you think the line is short". That may very well be (and, yes, I know Brandon Phillips is out), but all I know is Tyler Chatwood is nowhere near as good as his record would suggest, and Bronson Arroyo's been a stopper for the Reds the past few seasons (20-7 in Arroyo's last 27 starts following a loss their previous game, and 13-5 in Arroyo's last 18 starts as a home favorite). Rule #2: "Don't bet a team because they're due". First of all, what's the statistical likelihood of the Astros sweeping a four game series, let alone winning six in a row (on the road, no less)? Probably not that good. Second, the 'good' Erik Bedard managed to compile a record of 3-5, 4.89 ERA, 1.47 WHIP against the Angels in his career; the 'bad' Erik Bedard probably won't be quite as fortunate. And third, Joe Blanton's done a decent enough job against the Astros the past season and a half (1-1, 13.2 IP, 14 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 13 K) to make me think (hope) he can pull it off at least one more time.

Let's see what happens...

Ah, yes, but the Astros are also 6-26 when playing against a team with a winning record this season, and 2-8 in Dallas Keuchel's last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record... : )

In any event, laying road chalk is (obviously) not a long term recipe for success, but Garcia's been doin' work as of late, Keuchel's gotten hit hard both at home and overall this season (actually, he's gotten hit hard pretty much since he came up last season), and after miraculously pulling off six in a row, let's face it: Houston's due for some serious regression.

Good luck to you tonight as well tuck.

6/6/2013 8:10 PM Reduced Baseball 905 Philadelphia Phillies/Milwaukee Brewers* Over 9½ -105

*Two stud pitchers trading zeros in back to back matchups is one thing; a pitcher with a 5.75 ERA on the road and a pitcher with a 7.09 ERA at home is something different altogether...

6/7/2013 8:10 PM MLB Baseball 957 Philadelphia Phillies* -141 vs Milwaukee Brewers *2 UNITS*
*Let's see... The Brewers are 5-20 against LHP this season, 2-11 against LHP at Miller Park this season, 5-11 the last 16 against Philadelphia, 3-10 the last 13 against Philadelphia at Miller Park, 1-4 against Cliff Lee his last five starts, and the Phillies are hot while the Brewers are not.

What could possibly go wrong?

Thursday:

6/13/2013 7:05 PM MLB Baseball 961 Boston Red Sox/Baltimore Orioles* Over 9½ -110 *2 UNITS*
*Looks like relatively high humidity and a good gust of wind out to right field at Camden Yards (looks like a strong possibility of rain as well, so we'll have to wait and see on that), so those are usually strong contributing factors to overs. Throw in the fact that Felix Doubront is 7-3 O/U on the season with run support in the neighbourhood of 5.85, the Sox tearing the cover off the ball this month (6.9 RPG, .316 BA, .385 OBP) and Kevin Gausman... well, he's just been downright awful to start his career, so this one should stand a decent shot (I think, maybe...)

Monday:

MLB, Baseball
Kansas City Royals/Cleveland Indians 17-June-2013 4:05 PM PST
Total Over 7.5 for Game -130
J. Shields must start / C. Carrasco must start

*2 UNITS*

*The James Shields factor's got me down on this one a little bit, but this is a series I've been tracking for the past few seasons, and this would be why...

27 of 38 games in this series have gone OVER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons
12 of 18 games in this series have gone OVER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons

And the overall stats on the starting pitchers in this one aren't too bad either:

SHIELDS is 1-5 when starting against CLEVELAND with an ERA of 3.99 and a WHIP of 1.279.
His team's record is 3-6 (-5.4 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 3-5. (-2.8 units)

CARRASCO is 2-2 when starting against KANSAS CITY with an ERA of 6.34 and a WHIP of 1.593.
His team's record is 3-2 (+0.7 units) in these starts. The OVER is 4-1. (+3.0 units)

Of course, the way my season's been unravelling, this should end 2-1, but both teams have been hitting the ball well over the past week, so hopefully history prevails in this one...

Wednesday:

MLB Team Totals, Baseball
Kansas City Royals 19-June-2013 4:05 PM PST
Team 1 Points Over 3.5 for Game +101
L. Mendoza must start / J. Masterson must start

*5 UNITS*

*I'm about ready to declare this a lost season (see College Basketball Forum and NHL Forum for more details) so, if this is it, might as well go out with a bang. And yeah, I know, Masterson's been lights out at Progressive this season but, at the same time, he's gotten knocked around in two of his last three starts (on the road, mind you, but still), and he's also been shelled by the Royals in his three starts against them the past season and a half (18.1 IP, 25 H, 19 R, 6 BB). So between that and the fact that this series, which had been trending over for so long, has yet to produce an over, I'll take my chances with the away team (now watch it end 6-3 Indians...)
