Fun times.
- Great atmosphere, (from my personal experiences) right there alongside Texas / OU in the Cotton Bowl. Electric. Makes sense when it is the sporting event in the state each year. Granted some recent basketball success but there is no pro sports, and the rivals are within the same state, unlike Michigan and ohio. Certainly not downplaying the latter, at all, just pointing out a fact that both fan bases eagerly made me aware of.
- Mostly civil interaction between fans, pretty much what you see below. Two great guys that I met. About 75 / 25 split in the stadium. Great attire all around.
- Good tailgating scene. People in Texas like to drink. Folks in Alabama seem to take it to a different level.
- Jordan-Hare is a little run down but the light show and bells / whistles were damn cool. You see the J-HS thing on television but in person it’s something else.
- I'm not a huge marching band fan but I sat immediately adjacent to the Bama band and it is good. Non-stop between plays. Just short little bursts and not the same redundancy. Impressive.
- Almost ran into Tim Cook near the Tiger Walk. Closest I'll come to $2.6 billion in my lifetime.
- Auburn fans vibe was pretty much “I just hope we can keep it close” type thing. Sans the fumble, it arguably takes the ball the remaining 30 yards and goes for two to try and win the game. But Bama made the strip and recovered. Hats off to it.
