While looking over the futures odds to win each division at BetOnline i noticed an interesting futures option.
World series winning state:
California +175
Any other state +250
Conversley they also offer
World series winner
Dodgers +250
Detroit +700
Padres +2800
Giants +2500
Angles +50000
Oakland +100000
So, if i were to lock in any other state +250 and lad +250....am i thinking correctly that the only way it doesnt cash is if one of these other california teams would win the world series:
Angels
Padres
Giants
Oakland
The 2 biggest question marks are obviously the padres and giants. Fairly doubtful the angels dont make the postseason (lack of quality pitching and sustained offensive production issues) and oakland is oakland.
Id favor the padres over the giants, although the books dont.
The padres could get King back before the postseason, darvish has loomed sharp in his return, and their remaining schedule is favorable. Can they score more runs. The month of august will be their season defining time. 3 @ ariz, 3 vs boston, 3 @sfg, 3 @ lad, 4 vs sfg, 3 vs lad 3 @ seattle, and 3 @ minn. Brutal month. They do have 7 against colorado 3 @ wash, 3 @ minn, and 3 against cws. Their remaining foes in yhe 2nd half are about 500 or better.
Same goes for the giants about scoring runs. The devers trade hasnt paid off as much as they hoped. And their starting pitchers dont stack up as well vs what the padres have to offer. The giants brutal minth will be in sept. They do have 6 against pitt and 6 against colorado which should help.
