Interesting cuts & moves on roster day

Gabibbo's Finest
The Giants cut Will Demps.

Buster Davis from FSU was cut by the Cardinals.

The Cleveland Browns cut QB Ken Dorsey (leaving their QB roster as, Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson, and Brady Quinn.)

The Raiders cut Donovan Darius (S). (Very interesting) They also cut Zack Crockett (FB).

The Eagles not only cut Jeremy Bloom, but Rashad Barksdale (DB)--which may mean nothing to most of you, but he had at least two good preseason games from what I saw, so it's surprising that they felt they couldn't keep a guy who looked liked he had some potential in not the deepest part of the team.

Wade Wilson
, the Cowboys' QB coach got busted for buying HGH. He's been suspended for five games. Here's my question, what happens to the guys he bought the stuff for?

The Rams traded Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB) to the Bengals.

Michael Boulware from the Seahawks went to the Texans for a D-lineman. This is interesting because it's not like the Texans have much to work with on the D-line to begin with.

The Bengals cut Edge Hartwell (LB), and Reggie McNeal, the second year former QB who Corey Chavious said would be a starting QB in the league at some point. This makes me feel better about knowing nothing about scouting talent. It doesn't make me feel any better about still not cashing an NFL-starter sized paycheck.

The Jets admitted what we all knew last year, they overpaid for Kimo Von Oelhoffen (sp?) by cutting him.

The Pats cut Chad Brown (LB).

The Broncos cut Quincy Morgan (former Brown, I mean, KR/WR) and FB Kyle Johnson.

Tyler Palko (QB) didn't make the Saints roster.

Bhawoh Jue (S - SD), Marquand Manuel (S - GB), and Aaron Glenn (CB - Dal) are all out of a job.

Atlanta
's purge continues, they trade Alan Rossum (KR) to Pittsburgh.

The Redskins cut Brian Westbrook's brother, Byron.

what did the steelers trade to pittsburgh in return?

Also, Buster Davis should be able to find a spot somewhere i just think he is too talented.

Also, this is just for you joe and other browns fans, but the browns cut demario minter which what i thought was a up and commer interms of a DB. I was very surprised when he was cut.

Pittsburgh sent the Falcons, I believe, $1.65 and a carton of Marlboro reds.

Either that or a draft pick to be named later.

I saw the Browns cuts, I wasn't overly shocked by any of them. Minter, yeah, but the reality is that secondary is slowly becoming pretty solid, especially if that second rounder this year works out.

The problem really is the D-line, which could be remarkably bad.

I agree with that, i mean next years draft (whats left of the picks we have), will have to be defensive line players as we need those badly. Glenn Dorsey fro LSU would be a great fit. I didn't think chase pittman was doing that bad and thought he was solid, but i guess i should leave the coaches up to deciding who makes the team as they are better informed than i am.

I almost think that free agency next year will be as important as the draft.

If they're smart they'll basically use the entire draft on line players on both sides of the ball. Maybe a kicker to come in and compete with Phil Dawson, who I love, but who's starting to look a bit shaky.

But if they could attract just one D-line talent it would go a long ways.

- Will Demps sucks. He's too slow, and reacts slow, I hated it when the Giant signed him to a not so cheap deal.

- I wonder if donovan darious has anything left?

- Jermey bloom was an over hyped white player with a nice smile.

- Reggie Mcneal is a huge piece of shit thug who the bengals could do without. He was the mobile quarterback who said at the combine that the Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys of the league are dinosaurs and that mobile quarterbacks ( like himself) are going to take over. This guy is out of touch with reality. Vick is in jail, the other mobile guys stink ( minus vince young).

- Ryan Fitzpatrick is an interesting prospect. I wouldn't expect him to ever be more than a backup, but he looks like he can be a pretty good backup.

- Allan Rossum is a huge move IMO. He is so underrated as a return man. Didn't the saints cut Michael Lewis also? I am not sure teams understand how valued a Dante Hall, Michael Lewis, Allan Rossum is.

GM C-Gold would seriously consider having...
- a designated return man who only returns Ps/ks
- if your field goal kickers leg isn't strong enough, a 2nd kicker with a strong leg that only kicks off...

In the old days, teams used to have their punter/kicker double up. I guess somewhere along the way, a GM decided that instead of having a 7th linebacker to play coverage units on special teams, that having a guy that could actually make PATs and kicks would help them from losing by 1 or 3 points

The field position you can gain from a good return man, a strong legged kicker is very underrated. These 52nd, or 53rd guys on the roster, can't contribute as much as a kickoff specialist, or a designated return man.

Dante Hall, Devin Hester, Brian Mitchell, or some of these other guys in their prime are worth so much.

You really do have to wonder that. I mean, he didn't get a ton of interest when Jax let him walk, then he ends up out in Oakland, which has a decent defense, but isn't stacked by any stretch of the imagination. Something weird seems to be going on there, but maybe it's just as simple as him not having it any more.

I agree. I think Atlanta is packing it in this year, angling for next. Tennessee was doing this same thing last year, and their season under was coming along nicely until VY f**ked it all up. And the goddamn Giants didn't help either.

What's interesting about this on the other end of it is that it could really help the Steelers allowing them to keep their WRs healthy and off the kick team.

Didn't the saints cut Michael Lewis also?

I don't know if they even had him back in camp this year, I saw none of their games. I know they cut him at the end of training camp last year because they decided Reggie Bush would return punts. Something I thought was asinine, something I kind of still do, actually. The guy earns too much money to have his head taken off or his leg snapped in half on a punt return.

The other thing I didn't mention above:

NE put Richard Seymour on the PUP list. He's out at least six weeks.

yeah I think he got cut becuase it looked as he didnt have much left. He didnt show a damn thing in pre season. He got hurt and sat a game out. also BJ WARD showing up and making big hits and plays took his spot.

The big cuts for the Raiders imo were Moses a 3rd rd pick this year. The cardnials picked him up, that was a huge shock but the 5th rd pick Jay Richardson really out performed him and he is huge a monster and he is a whole lot better at stopping the run. I also liked Hawthorne a DT and Boothe a RG he got picked up by the Gmen.
