Figured I'd share some baseball stats, feel free to contribute as well or comment. 18 games into the season a little over 10% of games played. Here are some stats to consider..

Pirates pitching has been solid
2.92 FIP, 2.68 xERA, 1.17 WHIP. Solid thus far.

Astros pitching has been great, look at these #'s
1.08 WHIP- 3.05xERA -OBP .279

Top 3 teams FIP
Pirates 2.92 (2.68 x ERA)
Cubs 2.94
Cards 3.02
(all in same division)

Twins pitching has been terrible and it could be worse.
4.58 FIP, 4.29 XERA, 1.38 WHIP. Only 79 strikeouts.

^^^^^^^^^
Safe to say these numbers could be a lot worse.

Rangers pitching has been really bad
Rangers overall WHIP is 1.49 with a Xera of 3.96. . OBP .342. OUCH

Let's take a look at bullpens, these can change pretty quick but I thought I'd share a few.

Reds BP has been terrible
ERA 5.36
FIP 4.52
WHIP 1.48

Royals ERA has been great
ERA 0.52
FIP 2.26
WHIP 0.73

Some other teams with solid BP production
Cards 1.6 ERA
Yanks 2 ERA
ASTROS 2.44 ERA
Dodgers 2.5 ERA
Mets 2.58 ERA, 2.01 xERA

Mariners BP has been lucky
3.61 ERA but 3.70xERA and 1.51 WHIP.

Watch The A's BP closely, might get better but so far.
9 HR's given up, 4.42 ERA, 1.29 WHIP.

Royals hitting has been fantastic
.301 BA, .364 OBP

^^^
Something tells me these #'s will be very different at seasons end.

Rangers offense has been terrible
.208 BA, .627 OPS

Phillies can't hit
.214 BA .596 OPS

^^^^^^
This won't change, team has nothing.

Angels
.216 BA, .281 OBP.

^^^^^
This has to improve, right?

Brewers
.217, .585 OPS OUCH

Injuries big factor, but ouch.

Let's look at some 3-4-5 hitter stats..

3-4-5 hitters on Astros
.195 BA, .270 OBP, .600 OPS

WOW

3-4-5 hitters on Angels
.205 BA, .256 OBP

WOW..

Here are some good ones.
3-4-5 hitters on Royals
.345 BA, .425 OBP.

They are doing everything good ^

3-4-5 hitters on Cubs
.318 BA, .429 OBP

6-7-8-9 batters on Rangers
.174 BA

6-7-8 batters on Cubs
.183 BA .243 OBP

6-7-8 batters on Rockies
.275 BA

6-7-8-9 batters on A's
BA.272

Phillies 3-4-5 hitters
.166 BA

Phillies pitching has been lucky.
3.66 ERA looks good on the surface, but 3.77xERA and 1.41 WHIP. Team is terrible top to bottom but we all know this. lol

Mets are 14-4 yet Team BA is .239 27th in all of MLB
Padres worst team BA .226

Oakland A's committed 19 errors as a team lead MLB
Nats have 18
Brewers & Phillies both have 17

O's have worst team ERA 4.98
Brewers 4.78
Blue Jays 4.75

good stuff...you can add red sox to teams that have had bad pitching so far....starters have highest era in bases as of a few days ago....pen has been servicable

Padres worst team BA .226

Yet they're 11-7-1 to Over.

12 of their 18 games have totaled at least 9 runs (4 of 8 home games): last year 3 of their first 18 games totaled at least 9 runs (1 of 10 home games).

Think what it would be without Martinez' 0.45 ERA and 1.00 WHIP so far.

Great stuff Gabe!

here's a few interesting stats (after 19 games) -

(1) Seattle is the only team this a season not have recorded a win by a 3+ run margin. Even the hopeless Brewers have managed the feat twice.

(2) Oakland has only won games by 3+ run margins. The A's are 0-4 SU in 1 run games & 0-4 SU in 2 run games.

(3) Milwaukee is the only team whose highest score in a loss (10 runs) is greater than its highest score in a win (6 runs).

(4) San Fran & Milwaukee are the two teams to own the lowest highest-winning-scores (6 runs).
