How to make the NFL better...

I don’t know about every play reviewable. But every play should be subject to the replay assist. But that process needs to be transparent and it’s not right now.

Flopping should be a personal foul and ejectable on a second offense. And maybe like a tech rule in NBA serve a suspension after so many. See Mahomes this weekend. Embarrassing.

Offensive holding in the red zone should be similar to half the distance or only 5 yard penalties. It doesn’t make sense that the defense can commit a major penalty when the ball is on the 2 yard line and only get a 1 yard penalty, but if the offense commits a similar foul they go back the full yardage.

Something needs to change with automatic first downs too. How many times does a defense have an amazing goal line stand and then on fourth down they call a hold and the offense gets to start all over from first down. I think maybe the offense should get one down back.

In this same light, when an offensive team gets a penalty that ends in a half the distance to the goal, the first down line should be moved up in accordance with the penalty.

Example, 1st and 10 from the 10, so a fist down would be the 20. The offense is flagged for a hold, so they only move the ball back to the 5. It should STILL be 1st and 20 from the 5, and the line to gain is now the 25, no longer the 20. Why does the offense seemingly get rewarded because of where on the field they committed the penalty?

Interesting one. I like it.

5 and 15 yard running/roughing the kicker needs to be merged.

Maybe just a 10 yarder? No auto imo.

I understand that will never happen because a 4th and 20 teams will go all out and try to block....

So I guess just 10 yards and the first as a compromise...

We've talked about it for many moons...

The difference in holding on offense vs defense is glaring.

This is why you are a man of the people. Looking out for the punter seems like an agent's job. I agree, but auto first is really detracting from ever trying for a punt block. That said, you disrespect my punter..

The rules I hate the most:
Spot PI calls/fouls
Offense fumbles at 1 and goes out of bounds in end zone in no ones possession does not belong to the other team
OT Rules

agree with mostly all the ones listed already also

Agree on those 100%

The fumble in EZ in no one's possession is a great addition.

1. PI is treated like defensive holding, 5 yards and automatic first down
2. PI returns to its original intent of being for egregious situations where the defender is beaten, not for him being a half second early, hand fighting, running through the receiver on an underthrow (the dumbest of all PI calls imo), etc. ...it should be for when they make a mistake. Too many times the following happens: WR fails to get open, Defender covers him well, Quaterback makes a terrible decision to throw to him because he is covered, Quarterback makes a terrrible throw, defender barely touches receiver and they move the ball 23 yards downfield to the spot of the foul. The two offensive players who played poorly are rewarded and the defender who played wonderfully is punished.
3. Old kickoff rules
4. It is now illegal when the Chiefs hold
5. eliminate the 2 point conversion
6. incomplete pass moves the ball back one yard in addition to loss of down
7. Gloves, stickum and any other pass catching aide beyond ability is outlawed. Use your two hands, or one hand
8. FG's inside 30 yards 3 pts, All other FGs 2 pts.
9. Offensive holding on pass plays are 10 yard penalties, holding on running plays are 5 yard penalties. Bring manhood back to the sport
10. 15 yard penalty on the offensive player any time he leaves himself defenseless.

Very creative on a few.

#6 I'm guessing that is to encourage running more?

#5 why elimination of the 2pt conversion?

#8 is the FG inside 30 yards to encourage kicking more ? This would be interesting with potential review of spots.

The spot PI foul is and has been terrible. So much subjectivity involved for something so punitive.
I really like your point, but on the other hand I also think taking away the spot foul creates too much incentive for defensive backs to just tackle wide receivers if they get beat downfield or lose composure. I don’t know what the solution is.

First, the question should be asked: What don't you like about the NFL? Then you can suggestion how to solve that particular problem.

I don't like inaction, or fake action. Especially the line up and don't run a play, try to draw a free five yards shit. I also don't like teams burning a full 40 seconds off the clock just to move a punt back 5 yards. SOLUTION - delay of game results in loss of down. If you're going to have inaction or do some kind of fake play fuckery then you'd better have a timeout to burn.

I don't like penalties where the yardage gained won't result in a first down but the penalty itself results in an automatic first down. Illegal contact on 3rd and 15, etc. SOLUTION - No more automatic first downs. If the defensive penalty yardage doesn't get you the first down, chances are you've done nothing else in the series to earn it. You get the yardage and down over, that's it. Works better on the goal line too.

I don't like when facemask penalties are mistakenly called, or roughing penalties are mistakenly called, or hip drop tackles aren't called. SOLUTION - Replay assist for personal fouls. Let the refs on the field figure out the basic rules infractions, but give them some help on the more important 15 yarders.

I don't understand where the concept of "half the distance" to the goal line came from. If the ball is on the 22 and the defense commits a personal foul, what's wrong with moving the ball to the 7? Half the distance should only come into play if the penalty moves the ball inside the 2. SOLUTION: Penalties should be full distance unless the penalty moves to inside the 2 yard line. At that point move the ball to the 2.

I also agree with the post above about moving the first down marker if the offense gets a penalty where "half the distance" would typically be used. 1st and 10 on your own 1 and you false start? It's 1st and 15.

How about getting rid of penalties that have absolutely 0 bearing on the play. Or if a guys fingernail is offside. I get these idiots should just give some space but does it really matter if the crown of their helmet is 2” over the line.

Who wins. Ohio State vs Jacksonville…… just kidding 😂
We laugh this off now, but I’m telling you. The ratings for the 1st one would be through the fucking roof:

NFL has to go on the road to the college teams place 1stipulation

Who wants it? Amazon or Netflix?

3 and 15 qb rolls to the right. Throws 45 yards away from a WR on the left side of the field. Illegal contact on a receiver who wasn't even in the sight of vision of the qb. 1st down.

Drives me up the wall.

There's a hybrid in there involving 1/2 the yardage measured from the LOS and the point of the foul. That way, on what is now a 50-yard penalty, it's 25 yards - still significant but not as punitive.
