Good day yesterday with Pavano absolutely shitting the bed for the Indians. Still shaking my head that Carpenter gives up one hit and I still lose my RL play on the Cardinals.
Lot of chalk today but I love the match-ups...
Tigers -145 (2 UNITS)
Kris Benson had a decent spring for Texas but still won a spot in this rotation by default. Texas doesn't really have anyone else to go to as Scott Feldman last years #4 had to be moved to the bullpen since its in shambles. Eric Hurley the other projected #4 starter was lost for the season with a rotatar cuff injury. That left Benson and JAson Jennings battling it out for the job. Benson hasn't pitched in the majors in 2 1/2 years.
Galarraga goes for the Tigers and he should be pitching with a chip on his shoulder vs the team that waived him at the beginning of last year. Gerald Laird catching him vs his former longtime team might feel the same way. If anything Laird knows these Texas batters better then anyone.
Texas has lost 5 in a row at Comerica Park and got swept in last years April series giving up 38 runs in a 3 game set.
Cubs -147 (4 UNITS)
You have to question how effective Looper will be today since he battled with a rib cage injury much of the spring. He didn't get his first start of the spring until 2 weeks ago. In two starts he gave up seven earned runs on 14 hits in six innings.
Give me Harden and the Cubbies here.
Braves RL -105 (3 UNITS)
The Braves send Lowe to the mound who is 5-1 with a 2.41 ERA in six career starts versus the worst team in baseball. He faces that dude from the Netherlands Shairon Martis who won a spot on this awful rotation in the spring.
Chipper returns to the Braves and they have to win this by two right?
Reds -140 (3 UNITS)
The 23 year-old Johnny Cueto the former prized Reds prospect looks like he may have a breakout season in year #2. He was fantastic this spring posting a 1.57 ERA in five spring starts, with six walks and 13 strikeouts over 23 innings.
He faces the Pirates #5 starter Jeff Karstens who allowed 11 earned runs in his final 13 2/3 spring innings.
