Couldn't disagree with you more. He turned down Pacers offer to sign the sign salary per year deal, but with 2 more years in to his contract, so he made a choice, to get paid less - but to have his freedom back.

I don't think it's the ego. I think it's the expectation for players, to do the same thing that they did themselves. It's hard to understand sometimes, that something that was so easy for them, others simply can't do.
Also, they are use to bail their team out of trouble if needed, themselves. Here, they can't do it.
