The NFL is planning to expand the regular season to 17 games in 2021 -- a historic move that would generate new revenue and could at least slightly soften an anticipated drop in the salary cap next year, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport report.

Yep, I thought maybe they would add another bye week, but doesn’t look like that’s happening. Was surprised to see this get announced today.

They want the Super Bowl to land on that 3 day weekend.

Isn't Daytona 500 on Sunday of Prez Day weekend? If so, NFL would put on that power play to make them move.

Also extra game AND lower salary cap will not make the NFLPA happy, too many on IR as it is and they've already added the extra playoff game for each conference, could get messy.
