Houston played 5 games and three were against ranked top #25 teams. The fact that they have held 5 teams, including three ranked teams to an average of 20 points per game is the quality of better players.
They do lack scoring - but NOW are facing a pathetic defense of TCU who played NO ranked teams and is allowing 31 points per game.
Houston returns 16 starters from a year ago with the QB . Playing this game against a very soft defense puts all the numbers in Houston's favor.

5th ranked Oregon is giving the same points that MSU got last game vs Ohio State . IM not sold on Oregon being in the same capacity of OSU just yet.
MSU had 7 turnovers in the last 2 games which tilted the scoreboard significantly. A clean game here is important.
Oregon barely beat Boise and did it with FOUR (4) Boise turnovers. Other wise they would,have lost. Boise is the only ranked team Oregon faced. Boise out-gained Oregon by 140 yds in that game. FYI- Boise defense isn't as good as MSU.
MSU plays defense and isn't facing a power house like Ohio State . MSU won their first 3 games.
In spite of losing their last 2 games, they are still Plus in total yards/gm including a better rush avg and a better pass completion avg. including a big advantage in yards per play. Remove the 7 turnovers and those starts are magnified into wins.
Defensively MSU and Oregon are only 4 points apart. Both teams are under 20 points allowed.
Those numbers give MSU a good chance here.

Wrong team favored.
UNLV buried Fresno State and Fresno had Four (4) Turnovers.Final game score would have much closer.
Cuse returns 16 starters including the starting QB who has a QB rating of 153.25 while holding down oppents QB's to a low rating of 116.91 .
