G-Man's Bowl Playoffs Games Dec 30-Jan 9th

G-Man

Pretty much a regular
Bowls Overall. 17-12. +4,330.00

Tuesday. 2PM
Louisana Tech -10 over Coastal Carolina, 5 units

C.C. QB Collier likelywont play. If he does then CC wins this SU. Without him CC will striggle to reach 17pts.

LT has a QB that runs well.
Backup QB Kukuk ran for 172 yds last game vs Missouri State.

CC was the worst of all Bowlers as they were outscored by Bowlers by 28pts gm. Two games were against J.Madisn and S,Carolina but even against other teams they were terrible on defnse and allowed 40pts/gm.

5:30PM
illinois +3 over Tennessee. 10 units

Big 10 teams ahave won and covered every game so far.
Tenn is a negative scoring team vs Bowlers and went 1-4 SU also allowed 39pts/gm.
Illini is battle test after facing Ohio State, USC and Indiana and still managed to be ourtscored by Bowlers by only 2 points overall. Tenneesee isnt in thaty group.

9PM
USC -5.5 over TCU 10 units
USC came to win.
TCU starting QB went Portal.
Backup QB's vs Big 10 teams dont do well.
Backup QB Ken Seals who started 22 games when he was with Vandy will get the start for TCU. But dont expect much.

New Years Eve!
Coaching lost the USC game.
USC went to Zone -deep with the Prevent. Once they got the FG to go up by 10pts. It was obvious as they allowed TCU a 17play drive to score the TD with under 4 minutes to play which blew the cover. They clearly shut down TCU in the entire second half, playing close man coverage the whole time untill the last few minutes in the 4th. It was another typical loser Coaching move - thinking - we'll use up the clock...They beat thenselves and deserved it,,,
That makes 5 losses with spread covering leads in waining last minutes - that coaches gave up with the prevent defenses on my bowl sides -killing what would have been a great Bowl season so far.

Thru Dec 30. Bowls Overall. 18-14. +3,860.00

Wednesday 12 NOON.
Iowa +3 over Vanderbilt. 15 units

Iowa stayed within 2 pts of beating Oregon. They also held all bowlers to 18pts/gm average. Also held Indiana to second lowest score on the season in a loss 15-20.
Vandy was held to scoring lows by Alabama (14pts) ans Missouri (17pts).
Neither of those teams play defense like Iowa, who is ranked #8 defensively in the nation.

Duke -2.5 (-120) over Arizona State. 10 units
Duke faced 10 bowlers..The toughest schedule in their Conference.
ASU is without Statring QB (Transfer portal). They were only a 20pt offense with him and now are hardly a threat r score more than that with a backup.
Duke seemed to get better late in the season after losing to Virginia. They came back in the playoff game and beat Virginia SU 27-20 and played thier best defensive game of the year.
Virginia was a very good team who faced 9 bowlers and went 6-2 SU untill they were beat by Duke.
ASU wasnt all that good with thier starting QB as they wre only 3-4 SU vs Bowlers.

Texas -7.over Michigan. 10 units
Better QB better results.
Most of Michigan defenders opted out.

Utah -14 over Nebraska, 15 unts
Nebraska scores less on offense vs Bowlers than Utah gives up. The 18 pt defense will shut down the Corn-Heads.
Common opponent was UCLA. Utah won 43-10. Nebraska won 28-21.

Nebraska lost it last 2 regular season games by allwoing 40pts to Iowa and 37 to Penn State.
Utah has a better offense ands defense vs bowlers than those two teams.
Nebraska is negative in Rushing, passing and total yds per play., One of the worst of all bowlers.
Utah is plus in every category,

Ohio State/Miami Fla.
Back later with that game.

Top three ranked BIG 10 teams are all here again facing opponents who are way under rated.

Miami,fla holds a top 10 defense with a top 20 offense. ranked #10

Texas Tech also better with a #2 offense and #3 defense0 Ranked #4

Alabama could be under rated beacuse they played erratically all year.
But when facing winners, like Missouri, Georgia (first game), Oklahoma, they were 3-1 SU.

Indiana and Ohio State along with Oregon all had very soft schedules. In games between the three teams they were all close games. No one dominated.
I think one or two of the dogs vs these three teams could win SU and all three will cover.

Texas Tech will beat Oregon SU so will possibly Miami, Fla over Ohio state..
Miami returns many starters from last year.

Ohio state only returns 3 on defense and 6 on offense and a new starting QB who is not NFL grade. That fact makes it hard to repeat as National Champions when the cimpetition is more seasoned with returning many from last year.
Their numbers are not as good as last year and being a softer schedule makes it more obvious that they arent as good as last year.

Mendoza will be hard to beat but Alabama still had dominating lines on both side of offense and defense. That should keep the scoring down.
Ohio state held Indiana to only 17 first downs in a 13-10 game. I think Bama can do the same.
With Miami they did lose to weak Louisville amd also to SMU - but in the last 3 games of the season facing three bowlers - no one scored over 7 points against Miami. That makes their 13pt defense impressive for this game.

Miami like Ohio State held bowlers to under 100 yds rushing pergame. But Miami is #!.

If they hold down the Buckeyes run game, then this gets real close.
FWIW Only Texas and Indiana had more than 100 yds rushing vs Ohio State. And they both held OSU to 77 yds or less.
Take the points

Mia,i Fla. +9.5 over Ohio State 10 units.

Going for a middle .

Live. Ohio State +6.5. for game. Even +100. 5 Units
I think Miami startsto play conservative and try to hold lead.

Wednesday. 5-1 +5500.00

Thru Dec 31st. Bowls Overall. 22-15. +9,180.00

Happy New Year!

Thursday Jan 1st.

Texas Tech +2.5 over Oregon 5 units
An amazing 20 starters with QB - return from last year for Texas Tech. Thats a great advantage for becoming a National Champion.
Oregon returns 14 so called starters from last year but looking at who left for the NFL , Oregon had 13 true starters get drafted. So the "14"returnees werent really full time starters. The Ducks also lost NFL grade QB Gabriel to Browns. That drop off shows ip in games like this.

This was my writeups yesterday for the games today and the Miami play yesterday.

Top three ranked BIG 10 teams are all here again facing opponents who are way under rated.

Miami,fla holds a top 10 defense with a top 20 offense. ranked #10

Texas Tech also better with a #2 offense and #3 defense0 Ranked #4

Take the points

Alabama +7.5 over Indiana. 5 units
As noted Big 10 teams had soft schedules.
Indiana has dominated in the passing game since gettig transfer player Mendoza. But today he is facing the number #1 passing defense in the SEC - which is known for having better QB's. When Indiana played Ohio State they were held to only 17 first downs, which was one of their weakest offensive games.
Bama has the players on defense to hold Mendoza to reduced success. This gane should be close.

Back later.

WOW, Two good teams held to a total of 3 points!

Georgia -6 over Ole Miss. 5 units

Georgia played far better defense from game 4 out.
Even though Ole Miss scored 35pts on Georgia on week six - the Bulldihs out gained o'Miss by 150yds. That game was in Georgia and the line was Georgia-7.
The Georgia defense held the last 3 bowlers at the end of the season to 10 pts or less. Thats the defense that should show up today for the rematch with Ole Miss today.

Texas State -16.5 (-138) 5 units
Most points that Rice put ip on any Bowler this year was 24. .
They also were minus 23pts gm average.
Tex St won all of their last three games by more than 17 pts.

Navy -7 over Cincy 10 units.
Navy QB is superior.

SMU +1.5 over Arizoana. 10 units
SMU faced far superior bowlers and are a plus 7 scoring team.
They battled Mia, fl and won 26-20.

Wake +3 over Miss St. 10 units
Wake outgained Duke in the season final but had four tutnovers in the loss.
Wake feld 3 of last 4 opponenst to 14pts or less.
SM did face much harder bowlers but went 1-6 SU. They hsouldnt be favored here.

Thanks for all the ;ike guys. I appreciate it.

Ole Miss +3 over Miami, Fla. 10 units

Canes played only 6 bowlers overall. Five (5) during the regular season
Beating Ohio State was no big surprise as the Buckeyes had a first year starting qb. He was picked for a TD early that lost the game. but no excuses, they also didnt have a big running back which which stopped the Buckeyes from getting first downs. OSU had 18 first downs but only 45 total yds rushing. You lost many starters this year to the NFL it shows up.

Beck was seasoned and played years with a better team in Georgia so he was careful. Maybe too carefull. He actually had a season 2nd low in passing yds. A Pathetic 138 yards.
He also was shut down by A&M and only had 103 ids in the prior game.
If anyone thinks they can get away with those poor passing numbers for three straight games and come out a winner - it wont happen.

That won't cut it against Ole Miss. Ole Miss runs the ball way better than OSU and although they also have a first year QB in Chambliss - he can run also. Thats a solid dynamic especially considering the Rebels also ran the ball well vs Bowlers this year.
They avergaed 171 ads/gm (Ranked 29th in the nation) while Miam run game is ranked 77th..
They also averaged 300 yds passing Ranked #3 inthe nation, while Miam was ranked #18th/ .
But when considereing that Miami played 5 bowlers and Ole miss played seven (7) bowlers who also has a win percentage of .909! and we have a significant better team with Ole Miss.
Compare that with the Buckeyes and we have a far better team playing against Miami now.

One last note. I had SMU win over Arizona in their bowl game last week based on the win they had over Miami Fla this year. I haven't forgot it. I believe that SMU would never beat Ole Miss. Neither will Miami.

I mentioned last week that the Big 10 teams played soft schedules. It showed up against Miami.
Two (2) of those play each other next. Oregon/Indiana/

Note from yesterdays loss. Another coach who went prevent with 7 minutes t go. They pressured Beck for the entire 2nd half and shut Miami out until the last 7 minutes, They never blitzed Beck on either of the last two drives. He had all kinds of time to look for receivers especially on the last drive. Another coach who lost a game.

Jan 9th

Indiana -3.(-130) over Oregon 15 units
T
he Hoosiers beat the Ducks in Oregon and a neutral site rematch wont help the Ducks today.
One thing that Oregon struggled with in the first matchup was that they were held to a season-low 14 first downs in the 30-20 ooss to Indiana.
The Ducks were also shut down on the run with only 81 rushing yds. Those factors caused pressure on QB Moore and it caused him 2 ints. None were scored on.
BUT Oregon did get a pick 6 early in the 4th qtr off Mendoza to make the score 20-20.
But that was the last score for the Ducks, After that - Indiana went on to score two more times to ice the game.

The game really wasn't as close as the score. Many wont recall that Indiana sacked Moore 6 times. The Hoosiers defense is just to fierce. It will likely hapen again.
Oregon scoring in road games vs winning bowlers falls to only 25pts/gm on offense andd 18 on deense.. Where as overall vs bowlers on the season hey were at 32-19. This is a road game today for them.
Indiana also dropped to 25pts/gm in road games. Defensively they allow 18. Indiana was 34-13.
The main differense is that one of Indiana road games was in Oregon.
I dont see them holding Indiana to 30 points as in the first game. Hooseiers should score more being in a neutral site as opposed to ther last match in Oregon.
Lastly, - the Ducks 23-0 win over Texas tech was greatly influenced by FOUR (4) TT turnovers. Just the fact that Oregon only scored two(2) field goals in the first half, showed that offensively vs bowlers their offense was reduced.

Indiana beat Alabama worse than the 38-3 score. It was that they outgained Alabama by over 200 total yards.

So far in these playoff games the team with the most experienced QB have won them all.
Yesterday Beck was the difference over first year starter, Chambliss.

Today its Mendoza over Moore...
