Tiger pen is main reason for losing division.
Skubal may hold for first 5 but Cleveland can beat them in 9 innings.
Willimas has been lights out since all star break. ERA under 2.50.
2-0 vs Detroit also last 2.


CUBS 1H ML -130. SD. 10 units.
This series gives a huge advamtage to Milwaukee. Both teams had winning record vs MIL. one of them get eliminated here.
The Pivetta that picthed in April is not the same Pivetta that pitched in September.
Padres only avg 3.8 runs/gm vs lefty's starters.
Boyd has also faded lately.

Boston +115. over NYY. 10 units
Crocket is 3-0 vs NYY this year. I doubt any other starter has done that vs NYY.
He allowed only 4 erned runs in 18 innings.
More important all three games were played June 15 or later.
Bos is 2-1 vs Fried this year.


Dodgers -190 over Reds. 10 units
Snell was 3-0 last 3 starts in September with allowing 1 run in 19 innings. era under 1.00.
Green PIP was high vs Dodgers. he was blown out 7-0 last game between thse two.
 
You're right on Detroit pen...

But they were gonna push Scooby as long as possible.

Detroit not scoring in the top of the inning with the men on base made me think they would blow it.

Tribe pen is all available again today. Hard to lose a game without giving up any earned runs. Very Rare!.

Bibee has been solid in September. He gave up 4 total runs in 4 starts going long innings which is critical for today.
Tigers are batting .160. against him in his last three starts
His era is under 2.00. Last three .089. More insane is, his whip is 0.79!

Mize is a good starter but Cleve wins vs Rightys; Not much against Lefty's.
Mize pitched well vs C.le in his starts. But Cle is hitting over ..265 against him. And over 400 in his last game.

SD +101 over Cubs 5 units
Cease can be dominatng. He has picthed far better lsately than his season long pathetic era of 4.50.+

Cubs ctually starting Imanaga, but not until they let Kittredge do the first inning or two. Imanga has trouble in first innings all year.

SD pen has to win this. Iamanaga has a 1.70 era vs SD this year. He usually can only go 5 uinnings. Pads have to score on Kittredge.
SD on road games this year is below .500 at 38-43.
Both starters are 2-0 vs each team.
The loser in the last 10 games between them has scored over 2 runs in only 2 of the last 10 games.

NYY -185. 10 units
Boston's last 3 wins over NYY were only when Crochet started.
Boston did win five straight games before that - but that was in July/Aug when Yankees were struggling at the plate.

CLE -126 over Detroit. 10 units
Flaherty is less than half of who he was last year. His era was 2.95 and this year its 4.64.
Worse yet - is he hasn't done well after the Alllstar break and he's a main component of the Tigers collapse. Tigers are 2-8 SU in his last 10 starts. His actual record is 2-5 and 3 no decisions.
His best outing was against the Yanks Sept 10 - and Houston Aug 18 - going 5 innings in NY and no runs allowed. Detroit won that game 11-1.
Flaherty went 7 innings in Houston no runs allowed. He's on 8 days rest today. His era last 5 starts is good. 3.33. - But Detroit went 1-4 SU.

Cleveland Statrter Ciccone haasn't pitched in10 days. He has been pitching well last 5 with 3.90 era - but was rocked by Texas ten days ago, going only 4 innings and allowing 4 runs.
CLEVELAND TRADED JOSH NAYLOR FOR HIM TO ARIZONA
Games with 3rd string starters, or later in the rottation, are always unprediectable. if the starters themselves are going that way.

Both guys are improved in the last 5 starts - so this one will be owned by two things. The Bullpen and who hits homers.
Cleveland likley won't have their closer Smith availabe today, as he pitched in both games in the series. Closers usually dont go 3 straight games. Maybe Cle won't need him today.

Since Cleveland has allowed only 1 earned run in this series, they get my bet.


Cubs -110 over SD. 10 units
Darvish has been much better last 5 games, but he pitched against 4 losers. Only the Reds were a winning team. And we know they arent all that good. Thank You Dodgers!

There is no way to fade Taillon. He was the best starter for Cubs in the last 5 starts,. His era is 1.59! He was beat by SD back in April.
His problem early this year was always giving up HR's. But in his last 6 games, he allowed only ONE!
He also is another good follow-up play, as he only allowed 1 run in his last game going 7 innings and the Cubs were shut out.


Boston +136 over NYY. 5 units
BOS 1H +0.5. -110. 5 units
Rookie starter is, Connelly Early, for Sox. He faced 4 teams. Detroit and 3 losers. A's twice, and Tampa.
The only good thing for him is he's a lefty which helps against the Yanks, with short right field home runs. .
Sox choked several times yesterday with bases loaded and no runs? Boston overall has the better team pitching but their bats with out Anthony are struggling .Theyre hitting .219 in the series. I expact that to change today.
Sleeper stats.
Early has two stats that are solid. His strikouts are higher than Innings pitched. he has 29 in only 19 innings (which is a Yankees killer) - and better yet - he hasn't allowed a home run in any of his starts.

Yanks starter Schlitter has faced 1 winning team in his laat 5 starts. > Detroit, who we all know was fading badly all of september. He also faced Toronto. A team that can hit and pitch. He llost 7-1 giving up 4 runs.. Thats what he is facing today. A winning team.

RedSox used 8 pitchers yesterday. In the first game only 2. But it shouldn't matter as most can go two days in a row. They also have Chapman fresh today.
Yanks used 4 yesterday.

In The Divison - Boston is the best team with an aoutstanding 32-20 record - while NYY was only 27-25.

Rookie starter Yesavage is a ground ball pitcher. Thats good vs Home run hitters. He allowed zero HR' in his three starts this year.


Detroit -151 over Seattle. 10 units

Looks like Tigers are starting to play, like when they had a 15 game lead in August. The only problem is they are striking out at a high rate. They struck out 16 timnes yesterday!

Kubal is 0-2 this year when pitching against Castillo.
Good part for Tigers is Castillo gave up 2 runs and 4 runs in the starts.

Skubal wasm't his usual dominating self, in those 2 games.
If he pitches today like he did in Cleveland in his last start They win this.

Castillo has been killing it . BUT he beat 5 straight non-playoff teams in his last 5 starts.
Lets see how he does today against Detroit...
 
Couple things.
Tigers hitters. yesterday with a 2-2 game in the 8th and man on 2nd with one out, took back-to-back strikeouts "LOOKING" and never swung. No reason to stand there and give up a chance to win the game.

If they thought they were going to get a walk, the manager is to blame as Seattle walked 1 batter in the entire game.
Again, they left 15 men on base and struck out 10 times.

They need to win the 4th game with Mize.
Flaherty likely wont beat them on Tuesday. He isnt facing the .219 hitting lineup he faced in Cleveland...

If they split those 2, Skubal gets one more shot in game 5.

Ohtani is the new whiffer this playoff season. He has struck out 10 times in 23 at bats?
If he hits today like he is supposed to, they win this big. He's hitting .279 vs leftys this year.
He is 1 for 14 with 7 strikeouts in this series!
Unfortuately this year - he is only hitting 1 for 6 with 1 single and FIVE Strike outs vs C. Sanchez for a .167 BA.

Glasnow when healthy can dominate. He had serious shoulder issues most of the year and only has pitched 5 games in September since he came back. Dodgers won all 5 games he pitched in.
The Phllies pounded him for 5 runs early this year in 2 innings abck in April..

His short rest when forced to pitch a game vs MIL wasn't his regular result. Today he has his normal rest.
In home starts TY , His era is outstanding @2.49. More impressive is the WHIP @ 0.91. Boyd is also 12-1 SU!

Peralta Last year his era in oost season was 0-0.w/5.41 era..
Peralta has been dominating this year. But in road starts his era goes up to 3.71. Thats DOUBLE what his home era is. The WHIP revals he's less effective @1.17.

Tigers held Seattle to 3 runs or less in three of the four games. The only bad game was when Flaherty pitched.
Tigers are holding Seattle to 4 runs /game in the series.
It could be that the Tiger bats have woke up.
Beating Skubal again is slim, although he is 0-3 last three vs Seattle.
Kirby was beat by Detroit in 2 of last 3 times he faced them.

Overall in the last three games with these two pitchers - Skubal has given up 3.0 runs on average, while Kirby has given up 4.0 runs.
Going with the team that ruled the league back in mid-season. Tigers!

Game has changed so much. I found the game boring. Every pitcher throws 100 now and every hitter tries for HR. Never seen more guys on 2nd no out that don't score. Can't or won't bunt sacrifice. I like watching Judge and that's about it.

MLB is as bad as the NFL.

The mandatory 3 batter rules sucks. The gift on 2nd base in extra innings sucks. The pitching clock sucks. The Batter clock sucks.
And the strike zone used to be betwen the letters and the knees. Which makes the center-field illuminated batters box strike zone on camera favors taller hitters. Wonder when that was killed off?. Which means the strike zone for a midget is from his head his to his knees.

And they also made the ball 1 ounce heavier at some point? < I heard that from announcers during one of the playoff games?? Have no clue when that was done or if its even true?...Fuck 'em all!

Jays bats should come alive tonight. Theyre not striking out much, even though they lost first two games. Contact swings should prevail.
Seattle has struck out 25 times in the 2 games. That stat will likely catch up to them today.
Road teams in both Pennant series are 4-0. No reason to think it wont continue today.

Dodgers -165. 5 units.

Toronto +105. 5 units
Don't be mislead by Scherzers era. His last start was solid after allowing a 3 run HR in the first inning vs Boston, He gave up 1 more run in the last 5 innings. He also has had a long rest over two weeks.

Castillo faced all weak hitting teams in his last 5 starts. He relies on strikeouts, but he is facing the best team in the league with the lowest strikeouts.
Also - his last start was against Detroit who collapsed -and his PIP was 18! That wont beat the Jays if he gets his PIP high again! .He walked more batters than strikeouts in his last start.
 
FRIDAY OCT 17TH
Toronto -115 over Seattle. 10 units
First game where the favorite wins this.
This rematch will be the opposite of the first game in Toronto
Gausman is just too solid to pass on.
He is 100% reliable and hard to beat two games in a row/In his 34 starts 23 games were against WINNERS!
More important is the fact that when he loses, it was mostly because the Jays didn't score over 3 runs in 14 of the 15 games that the Jays lost when he started..
He gave up 53 total runs in those 15 games. It averages about 3.5 runs/game.
But in this last 10 starts he gave up 2 runs or less in seven of them.
Last fact. His road era is better than his home era over all. His WHIP is outstanding @0.99!

Miller is also a solid pitcher but he over-achieved in the first gane IMO.
His 5 of 6 games before the Jays game, was against soft hitting teams when he won.
He beat Detroit, KC, Colorado and Angels. He lost to the Dodgers. He also gave up 4 runs in 4 of the last 10 starts.
I dont think he will go long because the Jays should be able to hit hin in this rematch.
His season long era was over 5 runs!. He should come back to that level in the second game with Jays.

Dodgers 195 over Milwaukee. 10 units
Ohtani was solid in his last 5 starts with an era of 1.40! He gave up 3 runs to Philly in the third inning - but pitched 5 scoreless in that win,.

Brewers will have to use the entire slate of pitchers including starters to avoild the sweep. NONE of them are fresh except Megill and Preister.

Ohtani is fresh .He last pitched on OCT 4th. In home starts this year his era is 1.71 with a rediculous WHIP pf 0.79!!

Small play because a healthy Springer would make the play on Toronto instead - if he was healthy. I Cant trust an injured top player to be 100% tonight

Not happy with rookie starter for Jays tonight. This is a rematch with Gilbert and Yesavage.
Also not sure if Springer can play? His bat is crucial.
The right knee was smashed but xrays are negative. Problem is - he pivots off the back leg when hitting. If he's out its a bad thing.

Only advantage for Toronto is that Seattle is only hitting .190 last five games vs right handers during playoffs.

Jays Mgr left the rookie in too long in last start when the game was tied 3-3.
Also as I noted (Jays Pen is weak) the next four relivers that came in all gave up earned runs!
Im also skeptic because the Jays almost folded in the last moth barely winning the division over the Yankees.. They collapsed much like Detroit.

I would be much more in favor of Toronto if They had Bieber or Gausman pitching.

He also strck out 10 batters vs Toronto in 5 innings in his last start in August.
His recent PIP was only 12.9 vs Milwaukee which is outstanding!
