I was on toronto as well.....it's just one of those frustrating games...they had great opprotunities in the 11th with men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and could not get a run across.

The Jays game was frutsrating and we still had a chace 1st and 2nd 1 out down 3-2 but Hill grounds into a DP ! MFer !

The one thing with CIncy and Pitt is not real key on the Reds vs LHP and to have a young guy like Volquez be favored away seems a bit much. Pitt didnt play well today but they also dont match up well vs LH SP and had lost B2B games in XInnings. Thats why I lean to Pitt.

Also Maquis is definetly being skipped from what I read and I would assume Zambrano gets the start.


Happy I stayed off STL. Right now the crazy travel schedules seem to create nice opportunities. Most of these teams are making there first road trips and when they are of some disrance it definetly has an effect. Especially if they play at night and travel then play in the new city. Which makes me wonder about Seat tmrw. TB to SEA is a nice distance and they have to host LAA at 7 PM there time. STL was in a terrible spot flying out after the game in Jouston only to lose a couple of hours on top of it while SF was home...same shit happened to MN in the opener @ KC traveling after a night gane to play a day game...

good stuff sportsnut....pittsburgh is one of those tricky teams to bet on. They need a short stop that dosen't specialize in making errors. Too many of their pitchers are headcases and think that when the fielding isn't gonig well they have to pitch a roger clemens esk type game. If the starting 5 pitches within themselves then they are going to be alright...i think.

Philly's Myers says he will bring the heat against Cubs

Philadelphia Phillies ace Brett Myers hasn't been himself in his first two starts this season. He hasn't shown his fastball as much. He hasn't been his aggressive self the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
"I'm closing for nine innings tomorrow," said Myers, who will start Friday against the Chicago Cubs at Citizens Bank Park. In other words, he's going to let it all hang out. He hasn't so far, which explains his 0-1 record and 6.30 ERA. Myers said he had nothing on the mound in the March 31 season opener against Washington, but he thought that his stuff improved Sunday in Cincinnati. Manager Charlie Manuel thought otherwise, noting that Myers had thrown mostly off-speed pitches against the Reds.
"I've just been flipping crap up there," Myers said. "It wasn't working. I've got to put some type of aggression behind it.''

Definetly playing Pitt tonight.

In years past Cincy has had some nice RHB to platoon but this year that is not the case. Plus Ross and Gonzo who hit well vs Maholm are out and both were RH. Granted keppinger is everyday offensive upgrade hard to believe he can match or outdo what Gonzo did vs Maholm. Bako is a LH filling in for Ross as I believe valentin is still questionable. He played that got a day off regardless Javy is a 222 career hitter with a 593 OPS vs Lefties. They dont have a Conine or Aurilia at 1st base to platoon its either LH Hatteberg or LH Votto. Phillips and Encaracion have enjoed success against him. Dunn is only 2-20 though. Patterson just 0-3 in 1 game and JR is 5 / 15 .

In 4 career starts at home vs Cincy 8 inn 0 runs , 7.1 inn 2 runs , 4 inn 6 runs and 7 inn 2 runs. So 2 very good starts vs 1 poor one which most of those hitters are not present.

Mix in Cincy is 0-3 opening game of series so far and Pitt in a need of a win after a tough Chi series. Last year Maholm was favored about -110 in both games which he split but faced Arroyo and Harang significant upgrades from Volquez. Who despite pitching well and a nice strikeout total needed 95 pitches to navigate 5.1 innings. Maholm 's ERA was 2 runs lower at home and he pitched fairly well @ Fla but got hurt by a sloppy 5th inning where he allwoed a 2 out grand slam to Jacobs after loading teh bases with 2 gone on a HBP and walk. based on his few career starts on the road Vozquez seems to be limited to 6 innings at best. For various reasons IMO.

Think Cincy just 12-19 away vs LHP last year and Pitt still looking for that 1st home win...dont see how Cincy could be favored here....with the better SP matchup...

Undecided in the game in Philly. Not sure they deserve to be favored in Philly vs Myers who is still adjusting to being a SP. Rollins is OUT and he appears to be the heart and soul of there team. Lean Philly if anything they need this game and neither SP has seen much of the other team but when they did Myers fared better in Philly then Zambrano did @ Philly. Both teams abit taxed from previous series with some extra inning affairs.

Already spoke of how I feel about Pitt ...

Leaning towards MILW but what concerns me is the fact even though its Figueroa they have not done much vs RHP which I mentioned before the played Harang who they hit fairly well previously . They have only 2 LHs in Gross and Fielder . Mets I dont like much vs LHP but they did hit Miller and Hendrickson. So gonna stay away...

In the AL its hard to not like NYY here. Bucholz gets his 1st start in the rivalry and he probably will have soem nerves as he never experienced it before. Take away his games vs Balt and has about 16 innings 19 hits 10runs 7 earned and 7 bbs to 17Ks. Nice but nothing to get all excited about. Truth is NY doesnt seem to hit well vs power pitchers and you could see it vs Halladay and Burnett already. Wang throwing well needs to show consistency away...might take a small stab with NYY. Last year when they got swept in April we had Pettitte working his way back like this year and Karstens and Wright still lost 2 games by 1 run and the other by 2. Boston isnt hitting much better then NYY if you take away the last few innings yesterday...Thought DET should be favored @ Boston when it was Bonderman vs Lester so I dont see why this number should be any different NYY -120 makes sense to me...

The other game is hard to not like CLE. Sabathia just lost to OAK and he pitches better at home vs them then he does in Oakland. 4.50 career ERA vs 7.12 ERA. Three of his last 4 home starts vs them have been very good. Cle should feel better seeing Blanton again so quickly although he has fared well vs them. Factor in Oak off xtra innings in tor then had to fly to Cle and play what is a rested Cle team. Strong lean to Cle and lean to Under 8.5 ...or 1st 5 Inn Under..

Really like TB but concerned because I hate when the same SP meet in twice in a weeks time. Tough to beat the same team twice let alone the same SP. The Os though had to deal with a DH yesterday in Texas and maybe they start to cool down now. Guthrie was much better on the road and that is what concerns me here. Shields was solid in his 1st 2 starts both on the road but has struggled some vs LHs which Balt is full of. Really not sure what I like the fact the game opened at 165makes sense to me the fact its been bet down makes me feel like TB is now cheap..and an under seems sensible but prefer to have 9 ...
